The true brilliance of this album is the guitar work. That guitar is amazing.

One of the all time American greats! I was in a band from Vegas called subterfuge..we got to play with Fang in 83'. I'm kind'a proud of that.

Thanx Bradley! . . ..us guys in the band hate it. Mystic, Doug Moody..Philco did a horrible job on it. We were young and stupid and thought they would do us justice...sadly they let us down. Our demo we did in Vegas smoked the LP. But hey...it was punk rock right. Still..a very nice thing to hear. God Bless!

They put on a great show in S.F. last fall w/MDC & DK's. Hadn't seen/spoken to ST since Fang played my hometown early-80's, when bartending WV roomie brought them home for weekend-long afterparty. Amazing thing was, he rememered it! Was cool, having chance to intro adult offspring, as MDC/Dag Nasty, who played Berkeley's Gilman St. circa-87/88, was 1st show he ever attended, in a stroller!

I saw them back then also, in the Bay Area can't remember where (On Broadway? Probably). I remember one time was at an outdoor show with I think Reagan Youth, in Berkeley. Angry Samoans saw in '83 they were so great; not so great later on.

well i mean, Kurt did list the 'landshark/where the wild thing are album' as his no. 5 inspiration to create music, so id doubt it'd be too much of a stretch to say he was inspired by them- I mean he has covered 'the money will roll right in'

okay..did someone whos name i will shorten describe FANG as a "grunge" band or did i read that wrong? Maybe somebody needs to be sent to PUnK RoCk ScH00L to learn how each geographical location with any kind of music scene at all between 1967 and sometime around 1992 had a punk rock sound that kind of identified the local..FANG is classic East Bay Punk (east SanFrancisco Bay area).. or to generalize..early 80s hardcore.. no disrespect intended and excuse me if i missed a part of the dialogue..but nobody with a history of nights where they drunkenly flailed in circles for hours enclosed by societies outcasts (self induced or otherwise) to the sound of the world rotting around them would refrain from making that correction.. or im just an ass...hole..

Nervana covered some Fang songs is most likely why people called them "grunge" and ignored the fact they started years before there was a Seattle sound.
@replecon1408
@replecon1408 4 жыл бұрын
Mudhoney covered em first then Nirvana, but they did do shows in Seattle when the Seattle boys were cutting their punk teeth. They were a influence on Seattle hardcore. They played shows with Tales of Terror, Malfunkshun, Mr Epp(Mark Arms first band). That's why some airheads lump them in with grunge. Nowadays it's mainly Kurt C. Fanboys that slip up and call them the dreaded g word.

In the early 80s they, like Flipper were considered hardcore punk, except slower and more druggy inspired lyrics. Hence the 90s saw these bands as opposed to bands trying to play fast as possible became a more accessible sound for the mainstream. Shit happens!
