I've been to the Nashville Short track, I think that's the same as the current layout, if you look at the smaller circle, that's what they run the legends cars on

I finally made it the Fairgrounds last year...it was on my bucket list. When someone puts a track on their bucket list, it means it's special...as is. It currently has this huge roof that protects the fans from the glaring sun, keeping them cooler, and has no columns holding it up. Don't know why they would shorten it up, it's perfect the way it is.

At least one car catches fire from crud getting into / onto the exhaust at Chicago. Eh, it's not too likely if NASCAR did their homework, yet it is not zero risk either. ;)

hmm they want to replace the origional raceway? I like superspeedways as much as the next, but the nashvill was one of the first auto tracks in the usa second to host racing only to the milwalki mile, the third was as far as I know the indy state fair but was the first to have someone do a sub minute mile, the size of the track was fine it was still big enough for nascar, and silver crown racing but small enough for smaller cars to race and not compleatly rip their equiptment up, 1/2 mile is still big track and they want to change that, it would limit who or what could race there if they make it a super speedway, it would be tragic as when they limestoned the hoosier mile at the indiana state fair trading tradition and history for money and gambling money at that. though at least nashvill can still be raced on with cars if they do this and dont keep the origional raceway as part of it.

I hope the Architects and Engineers have been paid already for their work on the Nashville re-design. The locals are pushing the city government to squash the project. The NIMBYs are resisting strongly.

When Larson wins, the money is not his. It' belongs to Paul Silva, Kevin Rumley, Hendrick Motorsports or whoever else owns the car he is driving. (btw he's driving for Dale Jr @ Caraway on 6/28 in the CARS tour). The car owners pay Larson to drive for them.

Just started watching the Cup Practice I recorded this morning, add I just realized Kyle Petty is going to be on my Television every weekend. As someone who has actually raced at the Fairgrounds, I really wish that they would leave the track alone. Put down new asphalt, sure but leave the layout alone. From the looks of the diagram, the 1/4 mile track is toast. I was under the impression that they were still going to run the local program in addition to the big races. That was one of the things that made the Fairgrounds Speedway special. What about the limited late models, street stocks and four cyl, etc that have supported this track for decades? For those that don't know, those divisions ran the 1/4 mile, the late models run the big track.

I don’t disagree with the Kyle Larson issue but when one of the series owners is winning when they show up,there will be some conflicts of interest,it’s just going to happen.

Why reconfigure Nashville Fairgrounds? We need less reconfigurations, return to old tracks (Fairgrounds, Wilkesboro, Rockingham, etc), and go to new tracks (Iowa, Milwaukee (for Cup), etc.)

I've never been to Nashville Fairgrounds track, but have followed NASCAR for years when they ran there. So I can't say what's the difference between the "old" layout and the "new" layout. According to Wikipedia, it was built in 1904 and has been reconfigured several times over the years including being a 1-1/8 mile dirt oval. So I guess "old" is what ever you remembered when you were going there on a regular basis.

Horrible take...If other drivers want the money, beat Larson... The Nashville Fairgrounds proposal is weird all around. Speedway Motorsports already owns the Nashville Superspeedway which just got it's first NASCAR Cup dates and put on horrible IRL races back when they ran there. And Speedway Motorsports is the one behind this proposal. Are they wanting to close Nashville Speedway? Have their event alternate between the two facilities? Will the track be suitable for IndyCars? What distance, surface, and banking are they proposing? The stupid picture doesn't really explain anything other than it is larger than the current 1/2 mile track. The IndyCar street race in Nashville is pathetic, but popular. It already has to move due to construction, and the series is desperate for ovals. And most of those street races struggle to maintain after 2-3 years. Not everything turns into Long Beach or St. Pete....
