Aquarium Fantail Goldfish growth and full size. The growth rate of these fish is very dependent on the variables in which you care for it. Food, water quality, and just general care. On average, Fantail goldfish grow to a full size of 5-8 inches long.
Additional Random Aquarium Topics:
Wild night at the fair. While my friend and I were waiting for our boyfriends to get off one of the fair rides, she pointed out a bag near the fence. Neither of us thought it would actually have a fish in it let alone two. We waited for two rounds of the ride to see if anyone would claim it but no one came around and I couldn't leave them there. So now I have two baby comets in a 5 gallon quarantine tank.
A nice 75 gallon in the future would be a good permanent home for these guys. Best of luck with them! Do you have a tank size in mind,for when they are done in quarantine? They will be good in that 40 gallon breeder for a long time. Sounds like you got a good plan going on and I wish you the best of luck! (I also have fair fish and it took,them a week to eat due to being stressed. They also bottom sat a lot but were just used to doing that in the bin.
Goldfish Died Suddenly Overnight? Water change? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r99lesx30dKyiac.html
Good luck! Hoping for success with yours!
I won 4 at a fair last year. They were so bad off health wise they all ended up dying.
I have come to utterly hate the practice of this. As the people handing them out don’t even care. They remind me of backyard breeders.
Arriving home from work I almost cried. We're finally showing some progress! Sure he still gets all wonky, but a week ago he was side floaty 24/7! Thank you to everyone who gave me their suggestions on previous posts. He'll probably be in his hospital tank for several more weeks but I wanted to share this happy news. Also, I'm a huge fan of Repashy for sure! Its so easy on his gut that he has an easier time pooping.
About two weeks ago I posted a photo of my tank to A different goldfish group here on Facebook. A lady commented on my photo saying that my tank looked “disgusting” and that she thought I was going through “a bacterial Bloom”. Well my house has filtered pond water, so it’s never clear. There is always a hue to my tank water. She didn’t know what she was talking about.
But her words didn’t sit right with me, she called my tank disgusting! I caved. Long story short I cleaned my filter, media, and did a 50% water change and these are now my water parameters. Not good! I had perfect water before her comments and before I cleaned everything. 0 ppm if ammonia, 0 ppm of nitrite, and 10ppm of nitrate. And now I’m scared to post this. But I really need help.
I’ve used almost a whole 16 ounce bottle of ammo lock, And nothing has changed. Please try not to leave anything rude in the comments, or anything mean. It’s mean comments Got me in this situation in the first place.
A quick background about me, I do understand how the water cycle works.
I’m pretty sure I stripped my tank of all good bacteria when I cleaned my filter and media. Please please please don’t leave hate. I’m searching for good honest people who can help me.
First off, ease up on the AmmoLock. It will lower your pH and doesn't eliminate ammonia. The only way to eliminate or control ammonia is through frequent and large water changes. It looks like you're starting your cycle again, so with fish-in, I would do water changes daily, or at least every other day, monitor your levels daily, and add Prime and Stability. Prime add every other day. Again, Prime will NOT get rid of your ammonia, but it will bind them to make it harmless to your fish. Also, I like Prime because it doesn't interrupt your cycle. Stability and StressCoat will help your fish deal with the fluctuations in parameters until you've completed your cycle. I've passed this around before, but it might be helpful.
Do a BIG water change to clear out all that ammonia, and start dosing with stability. Use the whole bottle, It doesn't matter if it says to only use it for a day. Dose with prime every other day.
First So sorry u crashed ur cycle from overcleaning because of an uneducated comment. Fish in general don’t live in crystal clear water anyway so if ur fish r healthy and parameters are on point with a strong cycle keep up what u were doing before. The less cleaning the better. Algae is good for our piggies and a healthy environment. Once in a while a bacteria bloom happens from disrupting the colony with a new fish or overfeeding or disturbing substrate or media ect ect.

Such a shame to hear that some folks get concerned with the growth rate of their fish instead of just sitting back and enjoying them as they are every day. If they are going to grow they will...just don't get hung up on it. Thanks for this!

Hey had a question about decor about my 80gal... It's mainly stocked with angelfish buuuut I also have quite a few plecos... My smallest is about 9.5 inches and have destroyed just about everything that I've put in the tank. I bought some spider wood pieces and with there massive sizes they just tore it apart. But I'm too scared to put dragon stone or really any kind of stone decor due to there sensitive mouths... Any recommendations on decor?

Love these fish. Thinking about getting a Black Moor and Calico Fantail. Maybe in a 20 or 30 gallon. Do goldfish need a lid? Can't find a definite answer online.
@henpeckedlizard9873
@henpeckedlizard9873 3 жыл бұрын
they won't need a lid if you provide the necessary things that they need (adequate filtration, enough food, etc) if a fish gets stressed they may want to jump out of the tank. especially if the tank is too small, which is most likely a reason as to why they would want to jump.

Hi I got 6 fantail goldfish June 2021. 3 were little 1 inch fishies, 3 were 2.5 inches or so. The 3 larger fishies spent the summer outside in a half whiskey barrel pond and were brought in in the fall. They all lived in a 90 gallon unheated aquarium with some corydoras and live plants that they distroy and I replace lol. I do 35% water change every 5 days. Filtration with eheim 2217 canister. I feed them a variety of foods. Here is my confusion and I hope you can help me understand...One of my tiny 1 inch fishies has grown to be a big 6 inch fatty in just over a year. I had to remove her from the 90 gallon and put her in a 36 gallon by herself because she was trying to bite the eyes out of one of the other goldfish. I didn't know goldfish could be aggressive. She is double the size of the goldfish that were more than twice her size last year. Is this genetics? Growth hormones? If she is this big already is she going to be a monster?
