This is going to help me tremendously. I'm a noob with no idea what I'm doing and the losing trophy has a big dildo on the top that my brother is displaying at his house. I'm not looking to keep this thing in the family. I just need to come up with and/or copy some sort of safe drafting list so I can scratch guys off as they are taken and move on to the next. Any recommendations there?

Time for a refresher.

The biggest problem with fantasy tackle football is (I call it that because I follow REAL football now, which you dolts call soccer) is that the whole scoring format isn’t geared to beginners, period. In 1994 I had a Home Game Fantasy Football board game that demonstrated how it SHOULD be done. Instead of players, you drafted team units. Scoring then only required a basic ability to do mental math, since all fractions were dropped: * QBs earned a point for every 20 yards of total offense * RBs and WRs earned a point for every 10 yards their respective units earned * Kickers scored whatever was gained through field goals and extra points * Team score was simply points scored in the game, and team defense deducted any points conceded regardless of means (so pick-6s still counted against you even though the defense was never on the field). That was all that was REALLY needed, and had the format stayed I wouldn’t have given up on the NFL after the 2-point conversion was introduced. At the time I said it looked much like the college game. I still feel that way about it.

So many comments, sorry if it's been asked ... BUT two questions: Q1. What happens in the playoffs/finals when your player's teams start dropping out? (i.e. Do only still-active players contribute? or is there a different set of rules for FF? Q2. Does *every* FF season start with a draft from scratch? IF SO, when is it conducted relative to the regular season/what dates are important?

FC: if you had the 1st overall pick, who would you take?

My problem with sports video games and now that I've researched it, Fantasy Football is that sports celebrity hero fandom takes up so much of the energy. Where are the variables in this game people play for an immersive experience? It sounds like "my guy had 19 touchdowns his entire career (in real life) VS your guy only had 17 (in real life)... I win". I would prefer stats representing the various aspects of athletic prowess in a given football player, like speed/agility. Roll a D20 dice and add it to that speed/agility stat. Then we can determine if he succeeds in moving a specified distance on the field without being tackled. Something like that. Or in a video game, building a football player from scratch like Skyrim or Mass Effect, pick his position, allot a limited number of points to his abilities. Let's say you choose a Receiver! Your goal is to follow the direction of your Quarterback buddy and fight through interceptors in visceral 1st or 3rd person game play. Win the the game and go home and celebrate with your teammates and wife and kids. The hardships and resistance of training can be represented in fun little mini-games to level up your player. Your diet choices can give you various buffs for training and major games in the league. I like sports, but I'm desperate for more imagination. Has anyone else thought of this? Just regular guys like me, fantasy football, table top, or video game developers? (Other than 2K sports...)
