I remember when I worked at GameStop, I had a customer with autism looking for the Fallout 4 strategy guide forever. He was getting frustrated in his search (once broke down in the store because he was so upset) and one day while cleaning the back room I found a bunch of them sitting in field destroy where they hadn't been touched in months, possibly a year or so. I knew he liked Pokemon as well, and I found some in there too. I remembered his name, and called his mom/caregiver the next day and let her know I had one for him. He was a regular and we ended up putting together some strat guides for games we knew he liked, and old preorder bonuses to give to him, since we also found out his birthday was the week before. They came in and he was so happy, and two days after that he brought us a thank you card and some cookies for all of us. I know it was against the rules, and our DM was a little mad when she found out, but I didn't care because it made his day. One of the things I actually miss about working there.

Wether the store was dead or not, an employee of a game store should be able to play games lol. I remember I took my switch back to GameStop because my left joycon would ghost alot. The sales rep said she wanted to test it and started playing Smash. It was the best moment of my life, she was enjoying herself and I was laughing so hard. She swapped my joycon for free. Companies need to let their employees live.

I became good friends with the workers of the good gamestop. They gave me alot of the display pieces like posters, standees and what not when they had to throw them out. I still have the skyrim dovakin statue that they had displayed for a while because none of the employees wanted to log it home. So the manager asked if I wanted it, I looked funny walking down the street with a statue bigger than my self

As I return from a rather long hospital stay, bringing my large cloud of medicinal cannabis billowing behind me I must say that I'll never tire of any of your content, Fanta. From Tales fom Retail to reviews and Back to the Futon - plus all the hard work, dedication & a loyal friendship with your fans, subs and even the rare detractor or "hater". I rarely see any trolling comments and I think that's great. Us FantaVision fans have more maturity and show respect, dignity and a constant ear to ear smile when the humor begins. I've said it before and I'll say it again - This channel is literal GOLD! Thanks so much for a great video that made me belly laugh in a few places and hurt my stitches LOL! I'm on pain medication but I'm dying and I'm quite sick so I am in enough pain that my doctor advises me to take the meds but I'm taking Tylenol w codeine rather than Percocet or Vicodin. That stuff makes me sickly feeling and I'm going to have a Fanta-Tastic Day and I hope all of you do too! Much love from Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada!

Jesus christ. I could tell you some stories from a particular Hollywood Video/GameCrazy I used to work at from back in the day. From my boss showing up still rolling like a beast on E one day, cocaine in the back room, to the employee freakouts, the general thefts... or that time we suspect we accidentally got the place robbed at night during the early PS3 era... Something about those places made them a cesspool of humanity..

I worked at Gamestop for 4 1/2 years. Had a manager that would let us buy Original Game Boy games because we wouldn't take them on trade ins. I got a copy of Yellow for $3 from someone that way. I've got my share of stories, I should probably share them... Edit: I had an ASM get written up because they had too many preorder cancellations in a week. Yeah, it actually led to corrective action...

Having friends preorder crap tons of games just to have your numbers high, and then having them pick up the games without paying for them, and return them at another GS 1 city over and giving me the money to put into the register so were not negative. no one ever caught on. also taking home every single penny item we could find in the system.

It's kinda funny, seeing these moral upstanding employees, admitting work around to help you. For example I wanted a Limited Edition Smash Bros switch. So I put a little money on a preorder for a long distant game. Luigi mansion 3. So that I could come back and move that money to the Limited Switch. Unfortunately this agreement got lost in staff switch or something and I had to settle for an ordinary Switch. But still, I appreciate the employee letting me invest money on a preorder I didn't want for later use.

I’ve had a weird experience at my work “Levis” where I was told not to tell people how to get hired there and lie to them, a time to note was when a girl came in and asked to leave her resume with me and I grabbed it and asked if she went online and filled out a application in which she didn’t so now she can actually have a chance at working here. After my conversation with her my supervisor came over and asked why I would help her out and I said “I was looking for a job in the past here and if I wasn’t told what to do I wouldn’t be here” he just scoffed at me and said don’t help people. 2 months later he was let go because he was not a good fit for the store anymore because of his mood towards staff and customers

You are right, that is stupid. They can play the demo at home, but then there is a greater chance that they will just purchase the full game digitally. It's right there.. Gamestop needs to get people in store, being hands on with things to make them appreciate physical copies of things. Also, I hate that they don't alphabetize the used games anymore or at least where I live

1. There are stores in the area that utilize ebay. Meaning whenever there are massive price drop discounts they'll take the item (without purchasing it) make a listing and sell it and collect the extra money, or they give a certain amount of time and if it doesn't sell magically reapears in the store. 2. Stores in the area are able to disregard the 48 hr preorder pickup window and have said they are able to hold collectors editions for a month even if they never received word from the buyer that they will be picking it up later. In the mean time the "buyer" is able to make an ebay listing and try to sell the item at a marked up price. If the item sells at all.

I understand if you dont get up when the walk in but if you are sitting down and up to help them and they still get mad. Love the videos man. Been binge watching them. BUT I gotta say I think it's kinda crappy you guys would smash stuff that could easily be donated or reused by someone else. Plenty of collectors out there! I get though that your job might depend on it too, but then again I wouldn't work for a company that allows such blatant destruction. No wonder GameStop is going down and has declined for so long now. I used to love GameStop in the early to mid 2000s. Better simpler times for sure. I dumpster dived at GameStop and other videogame and electronic stores local to me at that time and I am SO HAPPY I was able to save so much from being taken to the land fills and destroyed. Was a fun thrill and I got alot of cool stuff to take with me home and have fun with. Stay safe brother!

I'm a retail manager and HEAVILY disagree with a lot of policies that head office seeks to impose from their ivory tower. For a lot of companies now, they take away more and more from the employee (AND the customer experience!) and expect the workers to give double the effort for nothing in return. The suits are demanding more from us but not offering anything in return - just complaints and grumbling. Predictably, that demoralizes everyone at store level. My company (jewellery store) announced a change in direction - focusing more on smaller, less expensive pieces that people might be more of at a time (instead of buying more expensive pieces that might take a bit longer to sell - but makes more in the long run). Problem: that strategy is working for locations in larger cities with much a younger population as their regular customers... ... not for my store. For my store, the regular clientele in my blue-collar mid-size town are older women (50+) who ONLY buy the more expensive and bigger pieces... but since the company is no longer acquiring them, these customers are getting frustrated and taking their business elsewhere... and I DON'T BLAME THEM. In the past month, the store's sales have fallen off a cliff. How so? First half of this quarter... sales 35% above projection (when the company still had the bigger pieces to distribute). Coming to the end of last week of this quarter - and my sales are now 5% BELOW projection. In the past 6 six weeks, the store's sales have PLUMMETED. Last week was the worst week ever - we reached 51% of our weekly goal (missed by 49%!!). In the six months that I've been a manager, I only had two other "off" weeks (ie. less than 90%)... and the past FOUR weeks have all been underwhelming with the "best" being a -27% like omg. At this rate, I'm convinced that my location is a lame duck... these dropping numbers are not sustainable and I predict Head Office is going to squeeze what they can from us over the holidays and REALLY tighten the leash in January. Everyone is looking for other in case the axe somehow falls early (but I doubt it because the busy season is coming). Long story short... Myself and the employees I've hired have given EVERYTHING AND MORE to rescue our location from extinct (oh you should've the accounting ledgers from before I took over omg lol)... and now Head Office expects us to do more while giving us less and less each week to work with; trust, me sending the last our decent stock BACK to the warehouse because other stores want it is a huge kick in the nuts as my location is just left with chintzy little pieces... It's becoming a HUGE problem - and this video is only one example.

@@oldjedi9689 In general, game hunting is dying because everyone can check eBay and Amazon and price accordingly. Good luck finding a deal when 99% of sellers know the supply/demand of an item and price it as such and will not negotiate down... it isn't fun anymore. I'd rather have my prostate examined. I remember when flea markets used to be enjoyable because you could potentially find a STEAL of a deal! Not just video games but ANYTHING. My best find was a little solid mahogany decorative box for $1. Pretty sure it was an old cigar box at one point since it's as long as a typical cigar... and while I don't know it's exact value now, I can tell you it's more than a buck lol. And now I see similar wooden boxes - that are nowhere near as nice the one I found and are made of lesser wood - selling for like $30! Second-hand! At a fucking FLEA MARKET! Hunting for games (and similar items) in person is such a chore now with very little payoff and enjoyment. And it sucks it turned out this way - I used to love flea markets. Now all I see are "mom-trepreneurs" re-selling bargain-basement Chinese wholesale jewellery at absurd marked-up prices hoping to turn a quick buck on those not aware they paid pennies for their stock. Sorry, but seeing tables of stuff I can find on Wish for $10+ when it's sold for only $1... like, fuck off.

I never really got upset at workers who were on their DS while on their shift...I'd do it to. But it really is unprofessional to be dicking around on your phone in front of customers when you are an employee--no matter where you work. Y'all need to cut that shit out.

Idk about you, but I've never cared about the professionalism of retail workers as long as they were nice and helpful.
