Yes, the double-take scene, so to speak, with Spike in the basement is quite well-done in general and does help give the viewer a chance to at least somewhat figure out the situation. I share the enjoyment and appreciation of the Willow and Anya scenes, and noticed Kyle visibly being moved by the ending with Buffy and Willow. Another really good one!

No spoilers for what is yet to come, but jumping back to S4/E21, it was cemented that the Scoobs are metaphorically part of Buffy. Xander is the heart, Giles is the mind, and Willow is the spirit. There was more going on here than a monster of the week episode, and now shutting up. Thanks, you two!

Props for a very timely and well-worded disclaimer at the beginning of this video. We all love this show and so many shows and properties created, at least in part, by Whedon. Love this Season! Fun early episode before the big bad takes hold of the narrative. Gnarl is so friggin' creepy and the writing is just excellent. I love the way Willow gets ironically punished the way she wants to be, by being slowly tortured and skinned, the same way she killed Warren. And the ending with Buffy's and her scene, where they re-establish their friendship feels so rooted in their long history. Just great.

I always enjoy this episode. Gnarl is one of my favorite villains. When I saw this episode initially I was confused until Spike talked to Buffy and Xander and Willow at the same time because I hadn't been putting it together. I felt a little stupid once I realized. I never liked that Willow wasn't afraid of coming home with talking/confronting Anya the way she was the others considering she made characters and audience members believe she killed Anya. On the upside this episode is the first time Willow treats Anya with any kind of friendship. Willow just now realizing Anya was insightful felt in character and yet wrong that she is only now realizing it. I'm glad Xander and Buffy don't just say Willow wouldn't do it. She hasn't earned that yet. Spike, while insane, getting one up on Xander is one of my favorite little moments of the series.

This interview basically sums up my opinion: Interview with Harry Lennix (Joss Whedon section) The reason there’s a Snyder Cut is because Zack was replaced by Joss Whedon on the movie. As you know, Ray Fisher has alleged that Joss engaged in misconduct during the shoot. You worked with Joss on two seasons of “Dollhouse,” so I wanted to ask if you had any thoughts on the matter? I wasn’t there during the time in question. I am sorry that anybody had to experience what it was that was described. Obviously, there’s one side of the story that we’ve heard. I don’t know that Joss has made any comments. As you point out, I worked with Joss fairly closely for a couple of years there. I didn’t see that behavior, and at the same time, as an actor, my heart goes out to anybody that had to endure that kind of treatment. We get treated as a second-class citizens frequently. But I did not see it, and I would be curious as to what [Joss’s] response to this has been. I just hope everybody can move on with their lives, to be honest with you. As a former seminarian, and as somebody who has made mistakes, I’ve been on either side of that equation. Directors sometimes are insensitive to the needs or the feelings of actors, and sometimes actors are needy, and sometimes they are oversensitive. I know I can be. So that said, I hope whatever it was that happened, that people could move on, and - outside of some unforgivable thing - that people can forgive, not just each other, but forgive themselves. To say, “Look, I may have made this mistake in the past, now I know better, and I’m going to do better.” This was a different time. What was tolerable, five years ago, a year ago, is no longer, and we have to adapt to that. I think there’s some of that going on, that this is generational in some way. I know that Ray has it in himself to be better because of this, to be stronger, to have survived it. And I also hope that Joss can, too, that he can survive it, be the writer and creator that that he is and we can all be better because of it. You’re looking at this with more empathy than I would say many observers have in light of what Ray has alleged, and what actors on “Angel” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”alleged about Joss on Wednesday. Were you experiences with Joss purely professional? Yes. Utterly professional. I didn’t see any of that kind of behavior that I’m hearing about. But I’m in a different place. That kind of thing is not likely to happen to me, just cause I’m a big Black guy from the South Side of Chicago, that people are a little more circumspect in however they might think about treating me or talking to me. I think maybe we should give [Joss] another chance to respond, to see what his side of the story is. Not minimizing anybody’s story, not minimizing the experiences others had in any way. But I believe that we must learn to reconcile. And we must learn to move on. We wouldn’t be able to take this into a court, per se, not really. What I’ve learned over the years is that two people could be telling the absolute truth from their point of view, and disagree on what those salient points are. Whatever those salient points are, I think that everything that I have heard so far - and that’s not everything - is recoverable. And so to the extent that it’s recoverable, let’s recover from it and keep moving. Joss hasn’t commented, Ray hasn’t gone public with almost any details about what he says happened on “Justice League,” and WarnerMedia hasn’t revealed what the company learned in its investigation. So figuring out how to move forward is complicated in the absence of detail. I agree, 100%. What I’ve been able to glean from the stories and the back and forth, such as it is - mostly the forth - is that nasty things were said, mean, insensitive things were said, that made certain people uncomfortable. That’s certainly something I’m familiar with actors having to endure. Indeed, that’s part of the process. People say “no” to us for any number of reasons, or tell us to lose weight or gain it or get taller or shorter or younger. That’s just the nature of the business - it’s a personal business. I am of the opinion that this is entirely fixable, and that really what needs to happen is a dialogue. I mean, the old standard in American jurisprudence is you have a right to face your accuser and to respond. I think that people have the right to present both sides of the case. In fact, it’s not just a right, I think it’s an obligation. I wonder what’s going to happen.

That interview seems a balanced reading of the situation, also most of the comments from ex-Buffy/Angel actors seem to have been along the lines of "I am sorry Charisma experienced that" whilst avoiding actually saying that it happened, they have mostly skirted around the actual allegations. Only two people know what actually happened nearly 30 years ago on set, and I can see Joss being pissed that a star of a show he has planned has just announced that she's pregnant and is not going to be able do an amount of the action scenes and you are going to have to re-write the who season around the fact, I also expect that he let his feelings be known on these facts. Do I think that Joss is rude and abrasive sometimes, yes. But perhaps you need some of that pig headedness to be able to produce what he does, you often hear that artists that produce great works are also hard to be around.

@@gordon861 Actresses getting pregnant isn't new in that business. You work around that not be mad at them. Especially if you have worked with that actress for years. @@gordon861 She and her husband were trying to have a baby since Season 3, this wasn't news. Cordy and Groo go on "vacation" due to one of charisma's miscarriages. The whole excuse of "I understand how he can be upset about having to rewrite the whole season"...I mean, that's not an excuse at all. He's had to field lots of unexpected things before, like cast leaving, which suddenly changes the direction of his season plans (Oz, Maggie Walsh, etc.). If he's such a talent, he can manage to do that just fine without embarking on season-long retaliation on the actress and firing her. Alternatively, he could have even went thru with his original plans, and strategically shot charisma, as every. other. show. does. when an actress is pregnant. Audiences can tell when an actress is pregnant, but look past it as they watch the story. And being a great talent/genius should also never be someones excuse for wreaking havoc on other people's lives and sending them to therapy.

I have been an avid Buffy lover, since the day the series originally aired. I have watched over & over again, over the years. I recently came to your channel & have come to enjoy your commentaries immensely. I feel the need to respond to your statement at the beginning of this reaction. Everyone has the right to their feelings, full-stop. However, I truly am conflicted, as I will never stop loving Buffy/Angel. How you separate the creator from that,is left to each individual. As a student of history, here's where I stand...attempting to erase a person, does not permit one from learning from whatever "mistakes" or actions attributed to them. Should all the good they've done,or art they've created be wiped away or destroyed? I for one, chose to come to my own conclusion & will never stop loving & watching the genius that is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You will both have to come to your own...

Third episode of accidental invisibility. Notably it happend to Xander in fear itself. These kind of things just make it feel like they are real characters with similar insecurities. It makes sense that two such people would become close. Also in "out of mind out of sight". That title feels similar to this one, a kind of adage that is switched around. Back then there was the expectation of everyone in high school + the power of the hellmouth that turned a girl invisible. Here there is the expectation of Willow and the power of Willow. It speeks to her power, but also tells a truth about our power over ourselves. She is not a teenager anymore. The power to form herself comes from within. Power from her, and from her best friend. While the application is dark, I find the ideas within beautiful. Also Narl really is gentlemen levels creepy.

So, seeing Anya picking up the wreckage of the Magic Box by herself annoys me. Why are Buffy and Xander not helping her clean this up? It definitely seems beyond being rude, we haven't gotten a lot of specifics but he is being accused of being abusive, manipulative and pitting people against each other. One example would be that he would deliberately try to make at least one female writer cry at meetings. There is a big difference between being rude and deliberately trying to and enjoying manipulating the emotions of other people. A more disturbing example is that Dawn's actress accused him of being very inappropriate(implication of sexual comments) to the point of there being a rule on set that he should not be left alone in a room with her. This was while she was underage.

The MeToo movement was one of the most destructive forces in American history. One person's allegations suddenly became not only TRUTH but reason to end a persons career. A supreme court justice was almost denied a seat because one woman alleged an incident over 40 years ago that every single contemporary of theirs denied not only not happening, but the occasion never occurred. Every detail was made up challenged and PROVEN wrong and TO THIS DAY probably 40% of the country think the man is guilty. Joss admitted to affairs and yes he was in a position of power, not like a President of the US with a cigar power, but power and it is harassment. HR departments are settling cases all over the US every day for this but somehow this channel thinks this one content creator must be publicly shunned like Voldemort.
