If you don't know what this is... You need to listen to Fantomas' Suspended Animation. May not sound pretty, but its definitely creative, complex and well planned. And to pull it off live is even more impressive. Only Patton can harness chaos and put it in a bottle. I agree with one of the comments that Bozzio is a machine. Just looking at his kit will tell you that.

I think what fascinates me most about Bungle, Fantomas and other projects Patton has done- like the EP with Dillinger- is that his compositions are little soundbites of multiple songs, styles, eras, influences intertwined together beautifully instead of one idea stretched into a 3 or 4 minute song like most music. Much respect for the man.

@Pyrofries - Yeah it's kind of Zappareque and I notice they have Terry Bozzio on drums, so would guess they are influenced by FZ. Although it's sporadic, you kind of know what to expect next though, but still entertaining and a refreshing change compared to most modern music.

@KurdtKobain09 Not meaning to bash on you but of course it can. There is a whole world of musicians out there that can write and read music like this. The music of folks like Elliot Carter or Pierre Boulez or Karlheinz Stockhausen or even Frank Zappa's orchestra music is far more complex than this and written out note for note.

patton only wrote one song on the album. backstrokin'. i love patton but people give him WAY too much credit, granted fantomas is mostly his genius. DV's songs were mostly written by trey, trevor, and danny. S/t was alot of patton stuff and califoronia the same as DV.

In-fucking-credible! Organized, orchestral genius! A real acquired taste, but it's good to have a little diversity in your music. Do you really want to listen to 3 minute Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus traditionally-structured music forever? Or will you experiment and take an adventure with sound? I took the latter, and I enjoyed. Open your mind, kids.

Mike triggers the Samples.... Terry was filling in on Drums, and if you notice, is SIGHT READING the drum tracks. This concert was the reason KORN hired Bozzio to play drums for them on record
@CaukyAsian4 жыл бұрын
Ryan Melanson, 7 years ago you made it sound like he's never ever heard any of these songs before or learned them and is totally playing by sight reading lol i guarantee he's learned them and whatever he has written down is only there for if he forgets anything or not to lose his place and counts for the odd pauses and stuff they do. You probably never played an instrument before. You see concert pianists play and they know the songs yet they still have the sheet music but they're not learning to play the song for the first time.

You just don't like it. I know all their songs and love them all. I'm not just into weird music either, I like all kinds of popular stuff. While it's fun to drink a brew and throw on some Skynyrd, can we at least agree that diversity is a good thing? They have enough fans to survive without you, and if it was that horrible they wouldn't. So I guess that makes you wrong.
