This video was hilarious and I'm sure Dean meant it as an excuse and to an extent I see where he gets it from, but I hope that people don't think all "black" music (or just hip hop please yall dont call it *insert race* music anymore when it's so widespread now) is "racy". Hip hop was originally about rapping about your struggles and just life. Now adays more modern is generally racier and about money and drugs with no actual depth like you can sing about some of that (respek wamen) and be fine and there are great "racy" or romantic songs that still have actual genuinity but my favorite genre has gotta be soul town and they sing about actual love. The lyrics can be so beautiful

Glad you felt you had the space to say this ! So true ! It’s just anti-black and stereotypical assumptions about black people and it’s just really upsetting/tiring for me as a fan of korean music since they are just so ignorant and lacking and inconsiderate majority of the times. I could only imagine how uncomfortable and heartbreaking it must be for black fans and black folx in general. Non-black folx have a lot of divestment to do when it comes to their very anti-black displays, actions, and institutions. Sorry to all black folx who have experienced all types of trauma because us non-black folx do not know how to love, respect, understand, and help black people and what they do for the world. Just know that if you ever feel like you aren’t able to be yourself anywhere, you have a space in the trans community !

@@mwohaeyo hey girl thanks for your sympathy, but I've met many non-black people who are wonderful and understanding and many people are just ignorant and it's great to so many people stepping out of that ignorance. I think we can do some open minded thinking as well as there is a lot of internal racism and hate and external racism within our community as a means of retaliation which doesnt help anything. It's kinda cool how impactful music is in these social issues

@@moonchild4157 a bit of both. I would say hip hop can be racy in the since of coolness money and glory but r&b can be more sexual due to its musical and lyrical style depending on what the song is about

I know this video was uploaded a year ago, but in case anyone else is watching it late like me, Dean refers to the R&B vibe. The black community musically wise is mostly known for the creation of Rap, HipHop, Jazz, and R&B. Jay Park also talked about how his music follows R&B more then HipHop and how R&B does have that slower and more sexier sound to it. Growing up black in a black household, we listen to a lot of R&B and Dean literally explained how it sounds. Even when you look up “bedroom playlist” or something like that, a large portion will be R&B. Please don’t misunderstand Dean’s words.
