That's a Vermil Victory if I recall correctly. And honestly I'm surprised and impressed with the Manchu thumb ring. For something that looks so bulky it sure is quite the performer.

I wonder, could be also the material? It seems that the more grabby material (leather) was the slowest, the second slowest also seemed more grabby than the others (I think there is also a bit of leather there). Plastic, bare skin and polished wood are all pretty smooth, and performed better.

Hi @Armin, is it possible that because the string is placed behind the Manchu thumb ring that makes the draw length a bit longer than the others, hence giving a slighter more potential energy in the bow resulting in a faster arrow speed?

Yay, science. Could be like you said, little contact with string in Manchu. Other types have more and get more interference and friction to string.

Any chance the Manchurian ring is faster because it makes the string rest a little further back? Based on what I saw when you were switching between rings and the fact that most archers will anchor the same way every time; it is likely that the string may be getting drawn and additional 1-2.5 cm further than with the other rings. Not 100 percent sure if this is the case though, just a thought.
