Hey Ola. I'm just wondering about fixed guitar bridges. Besides string path and intonation, is there any reason to buy an expensive stop tail bridge? I understand why high end tremolos can be expensive, but I'm not so sure on fixed traditional bridges. I have a set neck Explorer kit to build, so your input would be much appreciated :)

Agree with the "reinventing the wheel". People seem to think everything has to be new, different, exciting, breaking the mold. I don't really care about that, I just care about making and listening to good music. If it does something new, cool, but I don't really care if it does if I like it anyway.

11:45 best fucking question. Should be discussed and talked more by musicians. Many give up, thinking they're worthless. When in reality almost everyone goes through these tormenting processes. Everyone is unique, has different speed of learning and playing. Different styles, different approaches, different techniques etc.

15:53 this is what I was thinking about lately. Basically THE PURPOSE of life. Most musicians learn songs they like, try to incorporate it in their compositions, mix it with other stuff and hope for the better. Composing is like cooking, you learn stuff, you cook (practice), you taste it. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's uneatable sh*t. And a flair developes over time. The truth is: you don't eat delicacies every day to move your life forward. We would probably live in silence for years, waiting for yet another masterpiece of art.

Great episode per usual. I love how you can spend time catching bugs and stuff and we are all just along for the ride. Here’s my question for the next FAQ sesh😉 Have you always worked on your own guitars? Like have you always did your own setups, restrings, mods like pickup swaps, etc? What about a guitar tech on tour? I find setting up my guitars to be really tedious with the intonation and action height. Maybe that will change when I finally invest in an evertune system which seems like it’s pretty straight forward considering you can forget about it after.

Thanks almost entirely to you, Ola, I’ve spent about $5k on guitars amps mics and pedals this year. In the previous 18 years of playing guitar, I had personally only spent about $250 which was on a used SG. It started with your will it chug video on the micro terror or micro dark. That video sold me on the little amp. Then about 2 months later I had to get louder and better so I got a 5153 LBX ii and a matching 212. Then I bought a jaguar, then a tele, then a G&L Doheny. Then I bought an AC15C2. And I’m already looking towards my next guitar. I should also mention that I’ve improved my guitar playing immensely this year. Wouldn’t have happened probably without your videos. Thanks for everything you do.

It's not always laughing and smiling a lot that makes a person happy. Usually, those who seem really positive on the surface are actually really sad inside and vice versa. Scandinavian people are mostly introverted, which means they don't display their emotions as much.

You mentioned KZfaqrs being important and I think for sure some KZfaqrs who do many gear reviews plus demos and/or who play music are important for sure. A lot of KZfaq gear demos and reviews have helped me not waste my money on some music gear. For sure for something like a guitar or other instrument, I would usually have to play it in person and check out everything it offers before buying one. I even do shoutouts of different guitars before buying one.

Sweden, home of great guitarists and greater hockey players , like Nicklas Lindstrom also known in Detroit as THE PERFECT HUMAN. He was arguably the best defensive player ever to play in the NHL. He won 3 Stanley Cups as well as the Norris trophy for best Defensive Man , Conn Smythe best player in the playoffs as well being named NHL All Rookie team and NHL HALL OF FAME. He captained the wings his final six years and was always a pleasure to watch. A gentleman on and off the ice . He returned to Sweden to raise his family in his native country and is missed greatly by his fans in the NHL . As to your albums, they really show the creative side of you , which I throughly enjoy.

Huh, coincidence? Today, after a 6 months of playing, I finally got to post a review on my Joe Duplantier's Charvel (I have white one, the cheapest one in line), and here it is - Ola is talking about practically the same guitar (I don't think they are too different - pickups, inlays, finish, and that's it). Unlike Ola, I can say that this is THE guitar I've been looking for years. Being a Gojira fan only since 2018 (yeah, I know), now I can tell that me and Joe probably share same attitude to material things. And this guitar is really reflects it all - It's kinda cheap, really simple BUT trusty - never goes out of tune, always great massive tone (even with stock pickups), it weights a ton and makes your body vibrate as hell while played. I just love it. And the neck. Yeah.. It's all about different tastes, I guess. I've tried and owned so many - different Ibanez guitars, Washburns, Fenders, Dean. But this particular Charvel just lays in my hands like it's meant to be there. Every time I put it to the stand after playing, I whisper softly - "this is a fucking great guitar". And yeah - I haven't played Solar guitars yet :) so maybe I will love it even better. It's all about eternal search, right?

I received mine a couple of weeks ago (the latest one, thats why I asked him :P) and I love it so much. I have the feeling of Fender guitars that I love combined with the bridge of a Les Paul. This with the perfect control layout (Who needs a tone knob ?) and the massive tone that gives the Dimarzio pickups... Man, best guitar I've ever played :D

If you are talking about the white one with black bindings it's actually the older model from 2017 , the one Ola is playing it's the new model of 2019 - 2020 (don't remember now) with DiMarzio PU instead of Seymour Duncan and some other differences but nothing crazy. Btw I have the same 2017 model, for about a year or two now, and I agree 100%, this is a fucking great guitar, hands down my favourite, no bullshit just simple and super solid design and built to be comfortable to play, sounds and plays like a 1K guitar at half the price. Said that mine has some very small imperfection in the finish, but who cares tbh

@@Pippus4 the sad truth is that here in Russia I actually bought it for 1000$ because of all customs and stuff. And newer model, which Ola is showing, is worth something close to 2k. USD exchange ratio is crazy :(

I picked up a Charvel Dinky a few weeks ago, and I can say confidently that it has the exact neck I wanted and the Gotoh bridge beats out any Floyd Rose imo. Only wish it were a V and not a Dinky. Oh well, maybe get a Rhoads V on the Jackson side next. But Charvel makes quality instruments in my experience.
