My pro strategy to fight morning laziness is as soon as I wake up, I browse my phone for a cool video to watch, it kinda wakes me up and then I get up and do morning things while watching. It really helps. Sometimes it's even Ola videos. Incredible.

Hi Ola, Watching the FAQ and just heard the question from Thomas Duyck about being to late/old to start guitar. I was in the same boat. Started at 16 then stopped playing for a little over 10 years. I just recently started up again a year ago at 36. I'm still not great but love playing. Have a hard time trying to learn a lot of the technical stuff like scales and what not. And getting a good practice routine. Thanks for the great content Ola.

Thomas Dyrc I'm 36 and this year I just got my sweeps on par. I set my goal for 2018 to work on legato sticato picking and sweep arpagios. I really accomplished the sweeps. I been slacking on legatos and staccatos 👍🤘💩🤘

the first amp I had was a Peavy. I forget what model but it was a solid state. I loved how it sounded. after that I traded it for a Hughes & kettner. first electric guitar i had was a white Yamaha rgx 112 that I later painted black.

Hi Ola, a while ago on a live feed you congratulated me and my wife announcing I was going to be a dad again, it made our day, a week ago today my daughter was born, I'm over the moon, but my wife has been ill since giving birth but now on the mend. hej ola, I totally love the 14-day challenge, it´s my favorite series of ola the swede and it helps my playing tremendously. wouldn´t it be great to have a fixed day of the week for this like with the faq? it would be even more motivating to have a finish line after two weeks of practicing where we all could sit back and see how others were doing with some before/after videos (including yourself maybe?). anyway, you´re doing a great job here, keep it up! kthxbye

A few years back I went to a friend and family thing of some people I went to high school with, and one of my best friend's dads had started playing guitar because he loved all the "grunge" bands that all of us kids had listened to. So this fifty+ year old man is rocking out odd-time Soundgarden stuff after a year or so of playing. Growing up I remember going out to their farm and there were always records of classical music or tapes of the Tragically Hip. That one little interaction got me interested in playing guitar again because I realized I missed it. Like, I had always kept up with newer music and all of that, but I had a guitar in a case in a closet that I hadn't played in 10 years. I sucked at it, and I still suck at it. I am a very slow learner. But damn, is it ever more fun than having that guitar sit in its case.

Sennheiser Clipmic Digital would be great for you or the new Memory Mic which is wireless without any receiver or transmitter. Just sync the audio to the video after shooting via bluetooth. Broadcast quality mic capsule also.

Hi Ola, thanx for your great job. Playing an Hm-2 into the loop of an amplifier can sound good. Maybe you should try to use the Hm-2 with less volume. I use it in the loop to tame a Mt-2. I use it with zero gain. I was inspired by Slaughter of the soul album. It would be great to ear you trying to match that At the gates sound. Best regards.

Hey Ola, I'm a long time subscriber and have been a member from the start. I really enjoy the amount of material you put out and the quality of it. Perhaps you've already addressed this in a previous FAQ, but why is the Satan amp produced by Randall and not by Fortin? Did Mike maybe not want to produce two similar amps, since the Satan is basically a modified Natas? And did he license or sell the Satan design to Randall?

I agree. Put all the songs for one album in the same session file. I use ProTools not Logic, but same idea. Work smarter, not harder. They need to sound like they belong on the same album. Mixing metal songs separate for the same album seems like a waste of time to me!

Hey Ola! Any plans for Fear or The Haunted to come to France for a series of gigs? I think you could find a lot of metal bands that would be more than happy to support a tour. We in France suffer from a terrible distribution around the world, and even in our own country. Bands like Gojira are one in a generation. There are tons of great french metal bands, you should check out Loudblast «cross the threshold» for example. Old band, i'm sure you'll like it. Love your channel, you rock!

Hey Ola! Have a great Sunday! Have you tried out any micro-heads? I recently bought a Peavey 6505 Piranha (20 Watts) and it craps on my Laney 120 Watt head. It cost me about 85 Euros on Thomann and I would highly recommend for musicians looking for easier gear to tour/travel around with.

FAQ QUESTION: whats your opinion on the kemper powerhead? and kemper in general? theirs seems to be a strong pull even by high end artists to kemper but some people are set with tube amps which is fine, its an expensive bit of kit be interested to hear your thoughts.

Hey Ola, in regards to your answer given to the age and guitar question by thomas duyck, thank you :D i also played guitar in a punk band when i was 14 and a grunge project when i was 16 then abandoned the instrument. As time passed i started listening to a lot of prog, death, doom and black metal. I am 33 years old now and was wondering the very same thing, if I buy a guitar and start all over again, is it too late to get back in the game? But you already answered that and your answer was just what I needed to hear. Cheers!

Especially with doom...that stuff is easy to play. Buy a cheap noise gate pedal and a thick bassy fuzz pedal and Daisy chain them and crank the gain and bass to max, and you hardly even gotta play and doom is occurring out of your speakers

Hello Ola! I can't seem to find any other musician in my area who wants to play death metal like I do. I made some online collaborations with people from all around the world, but it's not the same thing as playing live. Any advice? I've already composed a lot of songs, but I'm not able to make a good mix / mastering myself and I'm afraid that everything will be lost over time. If I get to play live, I'll buy a Solar for sure as my main axe ☺. Thanks for what you do, it's a neverending source of inspiration.
