The reason why the elevator took so long to reach the 3rd floor before Mark escaped is because the friend used it to get to the ground floor. Thus more proof that the developers paid a lot of attention to detail in making this game.

I love how everyone reacted to their deaths differently. Amy sounded shocked or frightened, Harvey just sounded annoyed, Rose was in despair, and Dr. Bose just acted like it was business as usual.

Regarding the Ending -- the developer addressed its abruptness on the Steam Page: "I'll level with you about the ending - there's a basic reason for it being as it is, which is budget. ... I had no funding at all for this, so I had to pay for everything out of money that would otherwise be paying bills, and studios and actors cost a lot! But yes - hopefully a sequel will go some way to resolving Jimmy's story..." SO PLEASE everyone, even if we've seen the entire story. Support the developer so we can get more!!!

I really liked Maya's VA. Despite a lot of the lines being similar or being repeated throughout the game, it never got annoying.

Just wanted to say thank you to Mark and everyone who enjoyed the game - I had no idea how it'd be received when I published it and certainly didn't expect Mark to be playing it! We're working on a sequel but can't say when it'll be actually finished obviously. At Dead Of Night took about 4 years, but hopefully the next one won't take that long! Also, just had to say, if you look at the credits my son is on there as 'Jamie' - his name is really James and my other son's middle name is Alexander. So yes I did call my first son Jimmy... :)

One of the things that show how much effort and attention the developers put into this game is how Maya tells her friend to run to the stairs if she had already told the previous friend to run to the elevator - that way said friend wouldn't have to stall waiting for the elevator that's being used by the previous friend to escape, and risk getting caught by Jimmy... It might sound silly but they could've just overlooked this apparently minor detail

Honestly, when Maya went to 110 and 111 to save her friends, their best bet would’ve been to all jump Jimmy at the same time and beat the shit out of him

It's funny how Maya turns around to find a burning woman a foot away from her eyeballs, calmly pulls out her spirit box, and, as if she's phoning a friend. "Hey, saw you were looking a little warm. What happened?" Just after Rose said she was going to burn herself.

The finale is the most intense and scariest part in the game. Once you reach that part, there’s no going back and you only have one shot to beat it. Two choices, survive and save everyone, or die. Glad that Markiplier managed to beat it as well as saving everyone safely. He was so focused when he was going through with it. His skills and methods saved him.

Am i the only one thats surprised that Maya hasn't fumbled with the keys trying to put it into the keyhole

After beating the game, you realize Maya still would’ve been in danger regardless if she went to the show or not.

The lesson of this story is: never follow Markiplier anywhere in a hotel because he has no idea where he's going.

This all could have been avoided if Amy's mother pressed charges, or Dr. Bose called the police after the glass sandwich incident. Or he insisted Rose supervise Jimmy getting his medicine.

I like how maya asks so .. formally. Like she sees dr.bose strangling him self, harvey getting his neck slashed open, amy falling off the stairs and rose burns down alive she just goes " Hey [ the characters] what happend "

I feel like Mark just plays every game in the highest difficulty but somehow manages to find ways to make it harder, yet he always wins I'm very amazed everytime

I love this series more than life itself, but the most unnerving part is how every single ghost had something to do with the basement. Amy falling down to it and being first seen there, Dr. Bose and his...misfortune, Harvey and the fire, and now Rose and her husbands murder. Feels really significant.

I like that Markiplier basically played this in the toughest way possible, and probably still isn't in on the fact that he made it way harder than it had to be.

Rewatching this, it def does feel like somehow jimmy got possessed by hugo. Everytime he was away from the hotel, he was better, even came back happier. Then suddenly hed get aggresive. Feels like a shining moment but instead its a father making his own son violent

the fact that Jimmy's scenes were shot only in a day is just fascinating even though it looked like it took a whole month.

I just find it impressive that Mark got through this whole game with all his missing keys sitting at reception.

Jimmy didn't have DID, he was just straight up getting possessed by the spirit of his dead father.

For everyone else I've seen, hiding in the bathroom has a higher rate of getting caught than hiding in the closet yet Markiplier manages to not only beat the game prioritizing the bathroom, but without locking Jimmy in a room as well.

Considering Jimmy tried to kill Hugo in the bathroom, it makes sense that Hugo wouldn't look too carefully in there.

This entire series felt like a much more intense version of those Nancy drew interactive point and click games that I played as a kid.

I'm not quite through the video but I really do like how Jimmy avoids areas where people actually died. Amy died in the stairwell, the doctor died in the basement, and the Harvey died on the groundfloor. Like when he's gone insane he fears these places because of the deaths he caused there.

I love the fact that Maya never really tries to fight Jimmy back or avoid getting knocked out with the bat, she just stands there and awaits the inevitable, like oh well 🤷‍♀️

If you listen to EVERYTHING that Rose says, she calls Harvey her husband! After Hugo died, she inherited his hotel. She married Harvey, who later died. Then, the hotel was solely run by her until Jimmy came home.

I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out before, but fun fact: In 1945 a horror anthology movie by the name of Dead of Night was released. I haven't actually watched the movie but I've learned about some of the similarities between one of the stories and the story in At Dead of Night. The story I'm talking about follows a ventriloquist named Maxwell, who had a dummy named Hugo. Coincidence? I think not, because they act so similarly. Both game Hugo and dummy Hugo belittle people, like Jimmy and Maxwell. Dummy Hugo even does things such as disturb audience members, insult people, and bite Maxwell causing him to bleed, but it's all pinned on Maxwell. There's even a scene where Maxwell tells Hugo he'll tell someone about what he's done. In response to this, Hugo tells him to go ahead and, "They'll send you to a madhouse." I'm not sure if the dummy has done shit like murder people, but it's still too damn close to game Hugo to be a coincidence. If anyone has actually watched this movie and can think of other similarities, please point them out!

A lot of people say Rose was an annoying character since she defended Jimmy, but I find her story more tragic. It wasn't her fault that Jimmy was raised messed up. She could've done more yeah; maybe get the police involved, but things are always so complicated in abusive relationships. It's a toxic twisted trap. Rose wanted desperately for her child to be fine, so much so that she made excuses for his wrongdoings at every turn and dismissed what he was becoming. A woman overcome by guilt. Wanting the pain of her mistakes to go away. Feeling all alone with the truth out and Jimmy getting worse. Poor Rose.

I feel sorry for Jimmy though. Hugo has ruined his life and he can't escape. And if, as it seems by the ending scene with them, that Jimmy is fully aware of what Hugo is doing then he's tortured just as much.

I felt bad for Jimmy when I saw him crying in the corner begging Hugo to stop.

Seeing jimmy at the end begging Hugo to stop was actually kind of sad. Rose knew Jimmy was literally being tortured by Hugo and refused to get him help , gaslighted everyone who pointed out something was wrong and then when he really got bad she left him by myself to basically suffer.
