What a blessing and honour to have people like Farida Khanum Sahiba in ones life. One afternoon, when I was having a miserable day at work, I called Farida Ji to see if i could visit her on my way back from work. I requested if it would be possible to bring a harmonium player to that we can have a short impromptu music session because that would definitely ease my mind. On knowing that I was having a difficult time at work, she graciously agreed. I called Ustad Habib-Ur-Rehman Sahib of Patiala Gharana to check his availability. Fortunately, he was winding up his musical class at NCA and asked me to pick him from Ichhra. I asked my helper at home to bring my DSLR and Zoom and hurry to Farida Ji's house, so that this precious session, which lasted for almost an hour could be recorded. Since, she couldn't find her notebook, Farida Ji asked me to write my fav ghazals in large font for her. After the session, ever the gracious host, Farida ji treated me to her signature homemade chicken roast and lemon tarts. By the time I left, all my worries had evaporated and I felt more relaxed than I had in a long time.
Sharing a small excerpt from that session in which Farida Ji sings one of my fav ghazal of Sufi Tabassum set in Raag Megh
