In this video of Sons of The Forest, I cover part 3 of the full release update v1.0
Due to the large amount of additions, changes, etc I am going to be delivering these videos in parts.
00:00 - Added 2 new platform prefab structures and ability to snap them to built structures
00:08 - Added new auto foundation system for some prefab structures ( including small cabin, lean-to and lookout tower, and platforms)
02:30 - Added 4 new findable blueprint structures, including a glider launcher, and 3 mystery structures
03:53 - Added new nice chair and nice couch buildable structures
05:33 - New trap: Boom Tripwire
05:57 - New traps: Molotov Tripwire & Leaf Trap
06:46 - Player can now carry up to 4 stones at once and can now place multiple stones at once, as many as currently held
08:02 - Reworked stone wall so that upper rows require only 4 stones instead of 5
08:20 - Stone beams and floors now use a more subtle place animation
08:30 - Placing stone beam on ground now displays more accurately where the stone will be placed
08:46 - Placing a new stone floor will now orient it to place in front of where player is aiming instead of the default calculated position which might be outside viewport
08:55 - Added toss stone animation when adding stone to structures
09:13 - Setup combined LOD system and added 4th LOD to optimize rendering cost of stone floors
09:33 - Lowered CPU cost of having lots of idle structures
09:54 - Powered cross and leg lamp now have a fixed snap point for the wire
10:25 - Flyswatter and Bone-maker traps can now be moved after placed
10:55 - Added sound effect when relocating structures
11:26 - Blueprint structures that are being relocated will now retain their previous facing direction
11:32 - Furniture supported by other furniture is now linked, preventing the dismantling of the supporting one, destruction is also applied to the supported furniture
11:47 - Grounded beams fake pillars now remove snow around them
12:01 - When a structure is dismantled, it can now spawn bundles of items. Storage will also drop what was stored if it is destroyed
12:57 - Log plank and variants now throw with the same orientation as logs
13:15 - Structure dismantling is now X instead of C to prevent clashing with adding items to storage
13:38 - Set structure distortion at 70% of structures max HP and partial collapse at 20%
14:01 - Solar panels cannot be placed anymore in occluded areas (underground cellars)
14:18 - Enabled count readouts on all items on shelves that are not 1 to 1 visuals
14:29 - Stick spikes and electric fences are now more fragile
14:40 - Fence electric wire now sustains damage when electrocuting something (can fire 6 times before being destroyed currently)
15:09 - Placing walls under leaning beams on ground is now possible if they are level
15:21 - Changes to thermals, fires, heating, cold, insulation, temperature, etc
17:21 - Ending

Best way to use the glider launcher is to add a keybind to the glider, unequip it, then drive over the launcher with KnightV. If youre on KnightV, you get launched to space, when youre high enough, just activate the glider. Good fun. Sadly golf cart doesnt get launched 😂

Just build a teleport pad at the top of the mountain. It takes time to get the rocks up there but once you do it you can get anywhere in the map in seconds. It’s broken.

As much as I love the hand-placed build system, those platform blueprints are still a damn godsend and open up the building so much.

New foundation building blueprints are quite literally probably the best thing in the update, really hope they continue adding things that make the game similar to the forest, more than anything I'm nervous endnight could go the subnautica route where they make a really fantastic survival game with a great setting, then seemingly forget why the first game was so good in the sequel and muck everything up

With the glider launcher and the regular turtle shell trap, you make it launch you higher if you jump on it instead of walk into it. Might be why the glider launcher sometimes sends you higher than 15

for the glider launcher, i found that it will launch you 29 platform levels high if you jump onto it, this is very consistent too

Hi 👋🏻 Farket. Only thing I can think of when they mention it’s not 1v1 in visuals with placing objects on shelves, is that, for example: there might be 8 placed on the shelf but you will not visually see that many on the shelf. It’s stacked, & maybe half that show when viewing the shelf.

Yep, that's it I think, e.g. you can see 6 cans on the shelf and there are 6 stored so that's 1:1 but tape you see max 3 on the shelf but might actually be storing 5

a small detail you might have forgotten to mention but placing planks behaves the same as with stone structures, if you're carrying more than one plank and try to place for a ramp or a floor, it will automatically place all held planks at once just like with stones, it's a bit annoying if you're only trying to place only one but thankfully it doesn't auto cut logs into planks, it also doesn't auto cut planks into smaller planks if you are making corner ramps

1 to 1 visuals means it might only show up to 6 on a shelf n will show a 6 to 6 visual.. but after that it stops showing more even though you can place 10. That's why the visual numbers are there now.. I believe.

My friend and I built a base in the field next to the camp where you find the modern axe. We put up walls, then an electric fence on the perimeter. It shredded enemies. They would get stuck between the wall and fence and just die. It also killed tons of deer so food and animal skin was never an issue. So much deer skin we installed “deer carpet” on both floor of our cabin

They should definitely add more blueprints in the base book and in the extra ones you can find. Like a barn looking building, medium sized buildings, large cabins and such. Maybe ramps and the log only stairs from the forest (1). It has way more focus on free build and I think it would be better to make them more equals like custom walls from the first game (could have auto spiked walls if you beat the game like the insta animation skip). Honestly making them more 50/50 and not so much more on one than the other would make lazier players or less creative ones happier (it'd also just add a bit more content like maybe more mini caves for it on the lesser side of the map).

7:40 those are lightning artifacts, these happen when a game engine has more light sources present than it can handle console rust had like 30 per 'chunk' where after that lightining would go wonky like that, with lights dissapearing, weird shadows, blocky textures etc.

with the jump pad, if you go over it with the knight 5 unicycle it launches you super high. with the keybind for glider you can travel to the other side of the map with the Hight you get.

you can drive onto the glider launcher with the knight. i recommendt it because something really fun happens and you wont take fall damage

For the glider launcher, what I noticed so far is that it depends on the way you walk on it. For example if you run on it it will launch you higher than you would normally walk on it and by jumping on it it will launch you even higher.

1 to 1 visual, C4 explosives for example. You can store 4 and you can visually see 4 on the shelf. Leafs and stuff where you can put heaps down you will only see a few but there are 10+ there so there is a count read out for it

The "squares in the textures" the blocky images as you stated, i get all the time on my pc. I can not stress enough how much of a problem this is. Turning On Antialiasing seems to be the trigger. This has been a problem since the game came out. I do not get why Endnight has not fixed this as it has been a problem since this game came out in early access. This game really struggles with high end pcs, that is for sure. This game also has long time problems like enemies spawning in base, (Kelvin, even if he is in an enclosed base) will be outside the base when logging in, enemies can walk on spikes and take no damage, food disappearing from drying racks ( I have my drying racks in a complete building with a locked door and my fish and meat keep going missing), and on a positive note the additions have been nice and Endnight is hearing the community. Thank you Farket for videos, you are my go to all things Sons Of The Forest. Keep it up, mate! 07

7:40 The squares in the texture are due to how unity manage particles, they use billboard so it's like loads of different textures being forced out of 1 point and they dont work with skyboxes well so you were seeing the skybox and particle material breaking

The laggy leaf trap fire thing with the square artifacts looks like an issue with shader complexity. This usually comes up when materials with transparency are stacked on top of each other. A common occurence for smoke or dust effects that use a lot of individual particles with transparency. It usually looks better, but can bring even the strongest GPU to its knees if you stack a lot of them.

At one point the electric fence was so overpowered. I put one all the way round a 5x5 and all enemies would die to it. I didn’t have to do anything. So that change is great

One to one visuals means, there are more items on the shelve than there are visual, rendered items. Like Money for example, you can place more money on the shelve than bills are being rendered, you can't count how many bills are on the shelve to find out how many are there for real, so you get a number now. I think ammo is the same "issue".

11:00 the bonemaker does not require molotov/vodka bottle to reload the trap. But the other similar trap, molotov tripwire, completely burns down after use, not sure why we would use it, besides the fact that it creates light, while bonemaker does not.

They still havent fixed freezing temperature debuff inside your house bug. Just because you have more than one floor doesnt meant your building should get freezing cold thats BS. Also adding tarps to your base can make snow fall trought your roof and make your floor inside your house white for some reason

I have found that building before this update to be rather glitchy in terms of warmth. If I build a square house, it's fine, but if I build a really large triangle style roof, it almost never works the way that it should. I haven't been able to test this out with the full release update as I've pretty much had to start a new game since terrain changes effected miy game enough that I had to trash it, and building a large house takes a large amount of time, but time will tell if it ever got fixed or not. The weird part is that I'll have a multistory home, 3-4 floor houses, and different floors will be effected differently by warmth despite being sealed with no windows and a door at the bottom floor. First floor almost always warm. Second floor will almost always be cold except in like 2-3 parts of the room that are randomly warm. Third floor is a mix between either always warm or always cold. 4th (Or the attic) is usually cold but sometimes it's warm. It can be so frustrating trying to figure out why a sealed building is either good or cold that I assume it's based on how the roof is built. My guess is that indoor stairs also has an effect but I've even made rooms that enclose the stairs in hopes of keeping a room warm and sometimes it keeps a room warm, other times it has no effect. Such a frustrating problem XD.
