Today's video we're picking up my trailer from a farm clean out. This was the second load that we took off the property. It has not been easy with the mud rain and Running it to problem after problem. But all in all, we manage to make some money today, and we will be pulling another load out shortly. So if you like scrap metal content, remember to like comment and subscribe #scrap #junk #metal #scrapyard #hvac #recycling #work #farm #scrapping

I did farms for 12 years all over Eastern Iowa...back when we were getting just shy of $300/ton. First year I had a setup like yours, just a pickup and a trailer. Loaded by hand or with comealongs or if they'd load me was a bonus. I made enough that 1st year to buy my first skidloader, a gooseneck flatbed and a dump trailer plus a second truck. Paid for. By year 5 I had 4 trucks n trailers and a nice S300 Bobcat with solid tires. By the end i had a track Bobcat and several guys hauling so i could just stay on the farms and get materials dug out to load the next guy. Bought a grapple for the skidloader and just went to town on these big farm cleanups. Century farms were the best ones...nothing thrown away for 100 years or more. Kids didnt want nothing to do with the farm so guys like me get called in to clean up before the farms went for sale. I miss doing those for sure.

I would never let someone load onto my equipment without me being there. An agreement for them to pay for damages would be something to consider doing in the future.

And the thing is, is I told the guy that I didn't want it to go down this way before it happened. I knew that it was going to be nothing but a shit show.. But he did agree to pay for the damages

Looks like that car on the bottom of the front of the trailer had a copper radiator

It did, but it was buried in there and I couldn't get it out.. One of the reasons why I hate having other people load my trailer, because I would have saved that it was the least 50 bucks right there.

@@Adventureswithmike1 why is that? I’ve been trying to figure out why ours is so low. I’m in eastern Maine and our nearest shredder is just outside of Boston so maybe just the cost for the scrap companies to truck it so far? Not sure.

I am not sure. I think it has a lot to do with greedy scrapyards.

It was bolted in the factory location, but it looks like there's still some license plate around the bolt holes. It ripped right through the plate. I have no goddamn clue how he did that

Dont think your mic was on mike. Nonetheless, scrap does get labor intensive. Its definitely is fun though. I think thats what most people who scrap dont realize. How labor intensive it get but how fun it is.

If you're doing this job for the scrap. Then why don't you just walk away?
@Adventureswithmike1
@Adventureswithmike1 2 ай бұрын
Because there's a decent amount of money there and if the guy would have did it correctly and not break my shit.. All I would have had to do was drive it to the scrapyard for easy money.. But i've already pulled two more loads out of there without an issue.. And the trailers loaded for Monday morning, so I should make almost 1500 bucks.
