No matter how advanced farm technology gets there will be some of us out there with equipment that’s 30 to 60 years old. And we will still be competitive because we don’t have payments and we outwork the competition in hours and determination

And with that older equipment you have the right (and probably the capability) to do your own maintenance and repairs.

Advanced technology is only as good as the person who uses it. It still takes a dedicated person with a set of skill and experience to make this technology work. In other words, anyone just can be put into a situation like this and still be successful. It should be another valuable tool, like any other tool, in his or her toolbox. Remember, we as people are in charge.

You are so right. But what is it John Deere tries to say in this video. For me it is just a lot of head-up displays in their tractors.

It isn't technology that delivers greater productivity but the net energy received from fossil fuels. The best farm equipment in the future will be powered by muscle given how quickly the net energy from fossil fuels is dropping and how quickly they're being depleted.
