The International Harvester Super A was a work horse in its day. I raked many acres of hay with the Super A, pulling hay wagons and it worked well connected to the milking vacuum system when thunderstorms knocked out the power. A neighboring farmer bailed his hay with his Super A. Your video brings back old memories working on my uncles farm.

You can center your implement up on your drawbar. The pto driveshaft can be at an angle with no problem. That is what the u-joints are designed for. This video really made me smile to see. I love those old tractors and to see one back in use is great.

That little tractor is a keeper, sounds like she loves to run and is in beautiful shape for a nearly 70 year old machine, much better condition than my 68 year old body. Your girlfriend's face when she first drove it was priceless, she's a keeper too!

It's called a Belly Mower on the Massy. FYI... The Super A side seat was designed to cultivate and allow the operator to look directly at the dirting sweeps. You could do a lot to clean a grassy crop with that rig. Even today, it works great for small food plots that you want to farm without herbicides. You might ask if there is a cultivator out the weeds somewhere that goes with it.

Great find and a great video! You may want to check the left and right differentials as they probably have to be drained separately. You have a lot of great knowledge regarding that tractor! Keep em coming!
@johnnyholland87652 жыл бұрын
Get them both!!! I would have poured a couple gallons of diesel through the top of the engine to dilute some of that sludge. First put half and half diesel and oil and run it a little. Won't hurt anything. Then drain and refill with good oil. That is a good straight tractor. The tires are worth half the value of the tractor. Few odds and ends and some tlc and it will be a good tractor for Victoria...

That is so cool. I learned how to drive one of those in 1966 when I was 5 yrs old on my grandparents farm. I pulled the hay wagon when my grandparents loaded it. My other grandfather had a 130 which was supposed to be the commercial version. That brings back memories. When I was 6, I wrapped one into a tree discing our yard. Bent the tie rod. Dad then taught me how to use the turning brakes.

Those Little A Farmalls are handy and durable tractors. We have three of the Farmall A's in the collection. Two are regular A's and both have busted blocks from rain getting in the exhaust and freezing. The third is a super A like yours. It has a 59 inch woods belly mower. And I swapped the engine. It now has a engine from a 200 that has a M&W increased bore sleeve and piston kit. Plenty of power. We used to haul with a 66 ford F600 with a dovetail and a 40,000 pound PTO winch. However insurance began to cost more than we wanted to pay. So we now use a tilt top trailer. I just subscribed.

The owner is right/ 50%. Those tractors are fantastic. I pulled a Farmall Cub out of the woods and got it running years back. I learned all about tractors and Farmall and being a mechanic, told my wife “ I’m going to get it running “! She said “I’ll bet you will “, long story…. 3 tractors and everyone calls me Tractor Dave! There addicting, Note: I do own 18 acres of woods. The are awesome to use.

Great job bringing that old girl back to life! Don't forget to service the spreader too! Grease it and buy some spray chain lube for the chain! When you are done using it for the season, power wash it off really good, and grease and lube the chain before you store it! Save you a lot of grief next spring!

I love your Lady's joy in her new tractor. You may find STP oil treatment may help. As a kid I heard it speed up the idle of a very worn old Ford tractor. The idle speed went up as it was poured in. An Engine rebuilder friend of my dad said he could tell if STP had been used in an engine. STP engines would have oil in the top end, ready when started. Your Pony seems like the farmall cub, one size smaller than the Farmall A tractor. I miss my time on my grandparents' farms. Those visits saved my sanity away from my alcoholic home. I hope to see much more of this tractor and perhaps the other one from the same shed. I believe that is a non syncromesh transmission, so some gear grinding is natural. This is my first time on your channel and I hope to see much more May God bless and comfort you both.

Sweet find - congratulations- i have completely restored 2 old farmalls - 1 a 130 and other same as yours a super A- bit of advice- change the oil in the final drives - What i do with mine is when i am done using it and it’s going to sit for several months- I turn the engine by hand (fan blades) and set the points so they are opened- i have found the corrode if left closed- to do it- park it- shut off fuel- put in neutral - turn ignition on- Grab fan blade and very slowly turn engine until Amp meter goes back to the middle & turn ignition back off-( Batt. not discharging from points being closed) - and when it’s time to fire it up- turn fuel and ignition on and 1/2 choke and start her up-

Good idea on flushing and changing fluids. You will need to do the same with the final drives as well. It is separate from the trans fluid. Also, your clutch needs adjustment or possible replacement. The first adjustment to check is down by the pedal fulcrum. Then look into the bell housing from under the tractor to check the clutch pressure plate. It is adjustable as well A&I sells a cheap manual that will tell you all you need to know. Have fun!

Nice tractor, be careful using it with a lot of weight hooked on it. The actual drawbar is not on the tractor. It is connected to a bar that goes between the final drives in front. Those tractors had a habit of cracking the rear housings. The bar helps prevent that. The actual drawbar is attached to the bar and swings on what you are using as the drawbar. I hope you can find and install that. I love the video and seeing your lady so happy!
@WIDESIDE722 жыл бұрын
Cool video! Be sure to check the fluid level in the steering gear! There is a plug on the top right side next to the radiator. Be sure that the little breather hole is open in the plug, or drill one in the side if it’s been replaced. A lot of people paint over the hole not knowing. Also, don’t be surprised if nothing comes out when you drained it, because they filled it full of grease instead of 90w oil, due to a bad seal underneath! Ask me how I know! 😂

Those front tires are wonderful for farm work. Just if they go down in a couple days pump green slime into them before you drive it around.
