Squatch! Best wishes with the eye. Take all the time you need. Those of us who are true friends will be here when you're ready. I rushed back to work after a surgery once, and greatly regretted it. As Festus used to say " don't you worry Mathew ( squatch), I'll keep my eyeball pealed!

I have been agonizing for awhile wanting to convey to you just how much you have inspired me to hone my skills on my projects here. But I settled on all that being just a bunch of literary blubbering. You long ago earned my respect and appreciation of the masterful way you hone your craft. There have been times recently that I've been tied down in the hospital too and caring for my wife as well. That is exactly why I own laptops - I'm never away. True Americans are defined in our heritage of building things. You have that precious unique vision of outcome achieved by knowledgeable researched planning, organization, and reliable skills. You also, are fortunate to have your Dad there. He's a Gem and you should cast some scrap iron into a statue of him to put by your monument forever looking forward. I',ll be here when you get back.

Your comment reminded me there a subset of restorers (mostly in aviation) who'll go to great lengths to include small flaws, just like it would have when rushed through mass production 😅

Amazing how decals and lights really help things pop. Say: If I catch you grinding, sanding, or welding before your eye is all fixed up, I'll start flagging your videos as being inappropriate. 😉😛

One thing that really helps amateur restorers like me is to show the tools you use to do a particular job. Most of us have the usual shop tools but the specialty tools really make the difference. Really enjoy your videos. Thanks.

You're a man of great patience, painting the manifold with that little tiny brush. I would have had to use a bigger brush! That careful body work takes patience too - I can see there would be a great temptation to rush that along to get quicker results.
@danielbutler57810 ай бұрын
Toby, I would have used the small brush too. There was so much that required the finesse of the small brush and the amount that you could have used a bigger brush on wasn't worth the effort of cleaning up the bigger brush.

The toolbox sticker goes that way because it has the phone number on it and if you were in the field and needed to call them on your cell, the number was handy.😊

Something I noticed about the toolbox sticker (and truth be told, I'm probably one of the few who will notice it): the phone number is all wrong for the year of the tractor. They didn't start transitioning to the modern style of telephone number we know today until 1947, and wasn't fully adopted everywhere until 1992 (the phone number in 1945 would've been AND-4200). Again, I'm probably one of the few who would notice that, but with your keen attention to detail, I thought you'd like to know. Great work thus far on the H!

Another good ’ visual progress ‘ video! I usually bump the stir stick when I leave it in the can so I can make a really big mess. I’m glad to hear you’re taking good care of that eye, there’s not much call for blind mechanics anymore… I went to the Pioneer Power show Saturday in LeSuere on the off chance I would see you there. I have a brochure from the Earth Moving Museum in Elkader Iowa I wanted to give to you in order to entice you to visit it. Holts and Caterpillars from the beginning and rows of hulks and parts in the back lot that is at least as interesting as the machines inside.

As always learned a few things and picked up a few tricks! Maybe a video on what to put in your tool box! I suppose a few tools for the tractor itself, a few common or handy tools, maybe fence pliers for those with fence lines, etc., but what would a guy want for a plow tractor in the field or for haying or cultivating or harvesting? I have two old IH wrenches for implements waiting to get cleaned and painted so I wonder what else do I gather up to put in the box on the tractor?
