Am 78 years old, in 1957 cultivated row crop young cotton at my brother-in-law's farm with a Super M and a four row front mounted sweep cultivator with no power steering, brother one had better eaten his Wheaties, good old days. After my extravaganzas retired from watermelon farming six years ago. Now riding my Harleys daily, greetings from South Texas.

I was running hydraulic fluid in my 63 Fordson Super Dexta until the rear end gears had a problem. The hydraulic fluid was not heavy enough for the gears and it is all the same on those Fordson tractors. I have since gone back to the 30sae oil. I have found that the hydraulic seems to work better. Just my experience. Good luck.

When I got my 1939 john deere model h it had a hydrolic pump on the pto. But it was on in the most jerry rigged way. It was used to run a sprayer to keep the bugs off of the fields. And it also had a homemade wood saw on the front. Model h clutches spin backwards so you can be driving forward and the clutch will spin backwards

if you use a cultivator with this setup you would tee the high pressure line in to connect the cultivator lift cylinders... as for the 500psi pump vs the 800 psai pumps IHC made an upgrade kit . the newer pump had wider gears and gear casting plus a different pressure relief valve,

Those outputs on both sides were set up with mounted cultivators in mind. The one on the right and the front one on the left can lift at the same time for your front cultivators. The back one on the left will delay a bit so when you're at the end of the rows it will keep the rears in the ground until the tractor is out of the end . That is all with one pull on the lower hydraulic lever. Your M has a factory up and down valve probably added later. If your not using your hydraulic push in the bottom lever. It will kick your pump off and keep it cooler and save horsepower. The two way valve should hold position. I have a stanhoist loader and it has two hoses that hook directly to a farmall H or M in the right outlet and the left front outlet . Trip bucket only. It works well.

The setups you have on your tractors ARE NOT factory setups. Those have been cobbled up by previous owners. The original use was just a single acting system that would raise an implement, and just use the weight to lower it. It looks like the systems you have may have been built to use double acting cylinders, sometimes a return line was plumbed into the bottom drain plug to facilitate that. Originally there was one lever to actuate a cylinder, and a relief valve would trip when the cylinder was at maximum extension. And like the pto, the hydraulics are not live, so when you push in the clutch, you lose your hydraulic pump. A GREAT source of information on any of the older tractors is Yesterdaystractors.com.

Hi, good video, nice tractor too. I found you as I am trying to figure out a problem. I have a 1954 super H and my lift arms are stuck up. My system has leaked fluid for.a long time and I just add when i need to use. Today I added about a gallon which surprised me that it took that much. Went to raise my blade on the three point and it went right up, no problem. Drove to get the brush hog and pushed control rod forward and nothing. I’m stuck in the up position and it won’t lower. Got any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Ps, I had been running straight 30 weight but couldn’t find any today and bought some general tractor hydraulic fluid . Could mixing different oils screwed me up? Ok thanks in advance, Chuck

Lift-all hyd units were low press until super's introduced. lift-alls were all single-acting. you have 3 ports tied to the same pressure head. this way when you used a bolt-on cultivator,there was a left-hand frt cyl.a rh frt lift cyl, and a rear one, to lift the track wiper.Valve on fender is a double-acting valve[for dbl acting cyl] In summer with low press lift-all, i have used a wide variety of fluids, From universal tractor fluid,to 90 wt gear oil[talk about fast lifting]

I could be wrong, but I would say with the right valves you could hook up hydraulics for a front loader on your H using the ports on the other side of the tractor. Those are definitely simplistic systems compared to some

No. You're right the ports on the right are both pressurized, my hoses are setup like that, the the return hoses are linked together in a T going into the fill plug. I read in the manual that the farm all m's had two separate hydraulics, and my tractor has a separate half inch rod welded halfway on that rod, so i assume that allowed you to have the loader on and be able to operate something, whether you mounted a three point hitch or running trailer pulled equipment

Awesome description, do got a question. My M has a live pump. Works well except for my disk. Lifts lowers fine but can not hold it up slowly sinks down. Is this a valve issue no other piece of equipment does it just the disk which is the heaviest item I use the hydraulics for. No leaks, it's not slow lifting or lowering anything can't figure it out any ideas?
@FarmallFanatic
@FarmallFanatic 4 жыл бұрын
You could have a slow leak in the cylinder or on the tractor itself. Pump may be working at maximum capacity or just tired.
@tyfrank3427
@tyfrank3427 3 жыл бұрын
That is the proper valve for the remote control. The W-4, W-6, and W-9 series tractors have a better hydraulic system, as they are live. The pump is mounted between the magneto, or distributor like on the series 2 Super H's and Ms. Those are 750 or 800 PSI if I remember right. I usually run engine oil in those and the reason I do, is if the seal of the pump leaks oil in the engine, it will not contaminate your engine oil.

Those holes that were plugged were for mounted row cultivators. The front holes would lift first and then the back as you come to the end of a row so that they cultivated to the same place before they would come out of the ground. That is a neat concept. Hi i was wondering if maybe you could help me. I have a 51’ Farmall M that i am trying to get the hydraulic system setup using the belly pump. I have plumbed it basically the same way as the Farmall H you show in the video. It might just be air in the system but I am getting fluid blowing back out of my fill cap through the vent hole. I'm looking at doing this to my 51 H. I read that you should upgrade a gear! Just got a loader off a Ford 9n with crank driven pump I'm going to adapt onto My H. Any help or websites would be appreciated!

@@Laurel-Crowned The gear that you are talking about is the camshaft drive gear. Get a H parts book, look up the part # for the camshaft drive gear. How look up the camshaft drive gear for a Super H, or 300, or 350. I think that the Super H, 300, & 350 all have the updated part number. Some H’s may also have the updated part#. This also applies to the M, Super M, SMTA, 400, 450. IHC found out on the H’s & M’s that the camshaft gear was cracking, so they did a rolling production change, any camshaft gears ordered from IHC are the better gears. @RJ Charles I'm looking to use a tiller with my H, I've read that it goes to fast but my soil is easy to till so I would still like to use one and be able to lift and use one! Good luck with your project, & God bless 🙏. Any help appreciated!

@RJ Charles One of the first things that I would do is make sure that the hydraulic is clean & not contaminated , Then go to Tractor Supply, get an IT (Implement & Tractor) manual. Test the hydraulic pressure with a gauge.
