***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

Hubby and I experienced the same predicaments as you guys. Even though our own food was the reason we started growing, the market began to grow and take priority. Our personal food growing suffered. We left the market to re-evaluate. After one year, we decided not to go back but instead build a small self-serve roadside stand in our property. Brilliant! No pressure. We only sell our extra, and growing our own food comes first.

Kevin Sarah I nearly fell over when I say your title !! I have followed your channel since 2018 because I have learnt so much from you both and your Christian LIFE style. I have such respect for you both you are never afraid to say this is not working for us and that takes courage to publicly say that, you are honest hard working people. I know in time God will redirect you away from KZfaq to a lot of us that will be a sad day but in the meantime I plan to keep watching and learning. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Once again, a timely video for me. I just made the decision to scale back my egg laying chickens. Last year a friend grew vegetables and had folks buy boxes each week and some of them wanted eggs, which I supplied. So I added 70 egg layers to my flock, fed them all winter and now my friend isn't going to sell veggies. I had some customers other than those but not enough for that many eggs and it was becoming something that just took too much time. I'm 68 and the sole caregiver for my disabled mother so, this weekend, after much prayer, I sold all of the layers except what we need for our family. God knows what is right for us. I also put in raised beds this year and am very excited to focus on that produce.

Years ago Jaimie and I watched a documentary on Farmers Markets and saw how hard it was and the very little if any monetary value that was in it and decided to not do that. Instead, just raise food for ourselves and for trade among the neighbors. Much more of an easy life. You both deserve accolades for doing that as long as you did.

The farmers market in our county (which is a ranching community) mostly sells products from the same places the grocery stores get their products and at a higher price so it’s not worth it IMO.
@mindycollier9087

Absolutely!! The cost of gas and booth space is through the roof!! It's alot of work with loading/unloading your products and setting up/taking down displays!! On top of that there's always a chance that you may not make enough to compensate for those overhead costs!! Some homesteaders have stopped doing Farmers Markets and instead have opened up their own stores!!
@mindycollier9087
@mindycollier9087 Ай бұрын
@@vickihogan8207I've seen a documentary about that one!! I used to love going to the farmers market in my city but in the past couple of years all the good vendors had either retired or stopped working there!! I also started noticing things about some of the produce (ears of corn sold in late June, peppers and tomatoes being too uniform in appearance, etc...) so I stopped going there!! Anymore that market is more like a flea market than a farmers market!!

"Make homesteading fun again!!" This is a great move toward that. I worried you were not gardening in your new raised bed garden this year.

You aren't taking a step back, you're just going forward in a different direction! I planted everbearing strawberries, June-bearing strawberries, blueberries, and it's year 2 for my rhubarb. I'm excited for you!

I am not a person of faith, but I find the concept beautiful from an outsider's perspective. I'm so glad you two found comfort in your faith and that it brought you to this decision. You cannot live your best life if you cannot be comfortable, happy, and fulfilled. I look forward to future videos!

I am growing in those red protein tuns this year so, any tips on those kind of container gardening would be super helpful! I also took time off from farmers markets a couple years ago and have found that I am significantly less stressed and have more time for my son and my backyard homestead. The years with our children are priceless and this time is precious. God has continued to provide income for us above and beyond what I was getting from the markets so, I am sure this was the best decision for me. I make and sell Elderberry syrup/elixir as well as eggs, microgreens, and garden surplus. I have found that a single Facebook post in the right moms group can provide me with more $$ than I would make lugging everything to a market AND I get to stay home and welcome guests to the garden all day! Leaving the markets has been a massive blessing for me. It served its purpose for a time, but now I'm enjoying a slower, more loving pace to my Saturdays, and so are my son and my animals. Our presence in their lives is the greatest gift we give (and receive). Have a great garden year! Grow on! 💪 🌿

The Greek word RAFA means to PAUSE. It doesn't mean to stop what you are doing. To be active, but to stop striving so hard. I hope this gives confirmation to your decision! Praying for you both.

So happy for you both and your families. You have helped many many people with your videos and producing seedlings for gardens and you will still be producing ways for folks to grow their gardens plus having so time to enjoy some more time to entertain yourselves. May HIS blessings be with you all throughout your journey. Stay safe and GOD BLESS you all. Fred.

God bless all of you. My Husband and I moved to Missouri a couple of years ago, for the same reasons. Our faith is strong, but we pray on our choice to move to Texas County, every single day. We had to sadly give up on making friends with any of our neighbors, and we're still praying for them to stop allowing their dogs, cats, and livestock to trespass. We still pray to find a Church that isn't haughty and gossipy. We still pray for employers who won't steal our wages, and tips, when they're underpaying to begin with. We still pray for the nonstop dog and cat dumping to end, in a county with no animal shelter or animal control. We still pray to forgive the seller for lying to us so much that we can't even sell this place, with an added bonus of abandoning her own unfixed 2 cats to us, after hiding them, claiming there were no cats in the area, when there were dozens of other unfixed cats who would eventually contaminate most of our gardening areas. And I'm allergic to cats. We feel very isolated from our community, and Facebook is just a reminder of the lack of cohesion and fellowship within the community.

I was also relieved that you didn't say you were stopping KZfaq videos. You got everyone's attention! So, let me just say that when the weather gets to 90 degrees or higher, please consider shade cloth for your raised beds. It makes such a difference for me here in East Tennessee. I am using a chicken run which makes it easy to cover with shade cloth. I use 40 percent. I use the chicken run because of wild life like deer, squirrels, ground hogs, etc. Happy gardening friends!

You are both so amazing. My husband and I live in Idaho with our two children and we live on a 13-acre farm. We are christians as well and God has richly blessed us on our farm. As you are transitioning into a new phase, I will be praying for you and your family. I appreciate all you share on your channel. God bless you all..Sherri-Payette Idaho

I consider You Tube my TV. Even then there are only a couple channels that I enjoy watching. Thank you for staying with us!!

You are not afraid to make these decisions to do what is right for you. Being so open about it is encouraging to those of us who want to stop worrying about what others say we must do and focus on what Heavenly Father wants us to do with our lives. Thank you.
