After trying very unsuccessfully to minimalize, I've gone into storage and brought out all the wonderful things I've collected the 40 years my husband and I have been married. Seeing your home full of color, collected items and life has been a true inspiration.

I agree with you!:) although I prefer a minimal amount of stuff, since being introduced to the Elliot Homestead, and I am finding a beauty and coziness to the decor and cottage styled home I haven’t seen much of before. I have to say I like it;)

I too got depressed seeing all whites and empty cornertops. I love colors and textures. But I DO minimalize and declutter and buy mindfully. My drawers and cupboards are no longer filled to the brimmed, and now I only have useful or beautiful things in my home that I enjoy.

I think it's wonderful .. the way any farm home should be , your children will always remember it .. I know I remember my childhood memories of farmhouse , family dinners and family canning , family just sitting at the table talking & laughing .. things I love , but miss now that my parents and grandparents are gone ..

I’m so sorry to hear about your parents and grandparents being gone:( I too have the most precious memories of childhood doing the most simplistic and yet special of things like canning, building our pathetic little forts, and living each day on our family farm.

I love love love these detailed tours. Your home is so charming and vibrant. I find it incredibly refreshing how you embrace the chaos and imperfections - like much needed permission to let the little things go and just relax! These tours are the antitheses of the last few years of white walls and minimal aesthetics, and I am here for it!

Loved this! Our dining room table is almost 20 years old, we bought it when we were first married. It has weathered 4 children and is so scratched and marked up, but I love it. Even though it looks ratty to some it represents love and family to me. I hope to never get rid of it.

I love the philosophy behind your home decor. Homes are meant to be lived in, loved in and a bit battered around the edges. That's what gives them the warmth, comfort and feeling of a home not just a house. Old, worn wood with a story to tell, mismatched antiques collected over years, hints of bold colour, cosy sort furnishings and a toasty fire and candles. My dream home 😊

I love this so much. I inherited my G. Grandmother’s dining set, and with 7 children of my own, when I refinished it, I used a marine varnish, thinking it would hold up to our busy, messy family. Fast forward a number of years, it became kind of tacky. We had our small grandchildren here for numerous summers after their mother died, and one day, one of their aunties did a craft with them that involved glitter. Well, glitter and tacky varnish behave just as you would expect, and now, as badly as it needs refinishing, there are so many memories there, I haven’t made time to do it.

There must be more lovely young women like you in this world. Life is hard enough, for people wanting more & more useless things , trying so hard to keep up with others or wanting be better or have more & better than others. Valuing people & being hospitable & having joy in what you have shows in the beautiful person you are. God Bless you & your family.❤️

Ok, I LOVED this! The realness and lack of perfection is what makes it feel welcoming and "home". I've begun to try to stop apologizing for imperfection when people come over (hopefully announced!). We just got this old run down farmhouse that the word imperfection doesn't even to begin to describe it. I have a limited budget, but unlimited imagination, so eventually, it will be repaired and I can build those layers that make it a beautiful, lived in home. Haha, but first the gardens and the fields and the animals. They are my priority now, and once that is settled, then the inside will get some TLC.😏

I love the way you tell a story of life, my furniture is misnmatched different wood colors. I don't care I feel comfortable in my space. Everything I have has been collected over many years. I have items my grandad made me when I was two I am now sixty. I love the nostalga. I don't fall out with possessions my curtains I have had for seventeen years but I love them. I am particularly attached to my kitchen utensills, my wooden spoon I have had over thirty years.I have been sustainable for years I am content and happy what more could I want XXX

I loved everything about this. Thank you. We also love the old and worn over the shiny and new. I started out contemporary... but then children happened. I cried over new furniture that’s been ruined, expensive rugs beyond fixing ... add two dogs and it was just too much. I could simply never achieve that slick look. And suddenly it also became unattractive to me. Steril. Lifeless. Now I adore homes like yours and find myself creating this type of style in my home too. And suddenly it looks even better than it ever could’ve. The house is from 1890 in New England and honestly... maybe vintage is exactly what it needs anyway

I absolutely love your style, your home is so beautful! It has helped me so much to relax. My home has a farmhouse/cottage style to it and through the years we have done tons of renovations to fix it up. However, it is lived in with our two boys and our 3 pets. Our table is so full of scratches, first from when my kids were younger, and then I got two kittens....need I say more! lol! Everytime I watch your videos and hear you talk about your home and how relaxed you are, it really puts my perfectionist nerves at ease.
