The autonomous tractor is something else. Totally running itself in the field and the tillage equipment behind it Just amazing the technology they have now. You are running the tractor with a phone. Kip here in Kansas their is a little cotton raised. The first I seen was in loafs. Now I see round bales of cotton.

Cotton Pickers are only made 8n 6 rows these days. The row units are very heavy. Ont other hand Cotton strippers are made with up to 12 row folding heads

The W235R windrower is the mid size machine, i got mine used. In about 10 days itll be 2 years. If you happen to have pocket gopher mounds, its about 1 1/2 to 2 mph faster than a tractor with duals while in the field. The fastest ive cut is 14 1/2 mph in the field on alfalfa. I had a salesman tell me straight out that the w200 235 and 260 are the first ones fully integrated, so all you ready need is to transfer your globe/receiver. But if you like or know how to run your display, you can move that also. As for new price depending on options a couple years ago was $195,000 to $225,000 without heads. The hay head depending on conditioning rollers was $45,000 to $60 or $65,000. The 25' swather head (deere calls it a draper head) was over $70,000 in case you needed to combine a crop with a pickup head. There's some nice used machines for $140,000 or less all depending on the age. Compared to the jd 4995, the 4995 would only do about 13 mph down the road, the w235 will do around 23. Yes, there's a difference between the tractor lugs and turf/diamond tread tires. Yes there's a difference between the 4 conditioning rollers that john deere offers, yes i do have my preferences.

Automation is going to be key for US farmers to stay competitive with countries that have low labor costs, and more lax environmental laws; I mention environmental laws because some places they can use cheaper inputs that are not allowed by US environmental laws. To me, it is sad that this level of automation is going to be necessary for US farmers to stay competitive, as the cost (I think) is going to cause more family farms to go under.

The future holds some pretty amazing things that might change agriculture specifically farming as we know it. As for cotton pickers check out Triple R Farms. Daniel gives a pretty good demonstration on cotton pickers.

Look up Griggs farm down in Tennessee, I'm pretty sure he runs a jd. Cotton picker that makes round bales, he used to do modules.

Just saw Zoe's tube, all of this is kind of cool until it breaks (will not be cheap to fix), or when JD decides to raise the prices for their services. Also who owns the data being collected, the farmer or JD ?

Interesting technology but what happens when gps goes dead like it did this spring? Also what is the cost and payback? If all of a farms machines are atominous compatible can units be moved from one machine to another?

Just think of the powers to be, shuts down the satellites, and machines running with no humans how do your crops etc get done. They just have another way to condemn the farmers and the farms and shut them down so please farmers don't go for all the great advancements. Use your common sense Thanks from a Canadian that cares.
