The road leading to Syðradalur is quite epic. Depart from Tórshavn and head towards the village of Velbastaður. Along the coastline, the narrow road offers stunning vistas of steep mountains and sheep grazing on your right. If you’re not a fan of heights, focus straight ahead-the road hugs the cliffs on your left.
Once you descend the zig-zagging road into the valley, you’ll arrive at the tiny settlement. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the farmer working outside. Strike up a conversation with him about nature and rural life-it’s a unique opportunity.
Don’t miss the epic viewpoints along the route. Park your car at one of the lay-bys, grab your camera, and capture the tranquility that surrounds you. And if you happen to witness a late-night sunset here, it’s truly spectacular.
