I'm trying to write a book with a particular scene in mind. The book revolves around clearing the ork infestation in the eastern fringe after the Indomitus crusade and a large army of guardsmen and various astartes are sent. However, a part of the army, which was sent to the far east in order to free a few frontier worlds was given false information and a large ork force was going to attack. With no way out the guardsmen decide to hunker down and wait for reinforcements. The first initial ork attack was devastating but the guardsmen were saved by a mysterious force. Turns out this force was the Tau and the guardsmen were skeptical about this as they fought against these xenos before. However, these particular Tau are warriors of the Farsight enclave and they want to make a deal. A knight of the fire cast speaks with the major general and says: "We will assist you in this. But we ask for one thing in return." The major general asks: "What would that be?" The knight replies: "Commander Farsight wishes to speak with the one you call... Guilliman." See, Farsight is a very smart and experienced person. He knows not to trust the Imperials. But things have changed in the past 20 years and this "Guilliman" is in the center of it. Perhaps he could be a useful ally against the ethereals. Perhaps he could be the greatest enemy of the Tau and their demise. But there was only one way to find out.

Farsight, along with Eldrad, are probably some of the most truly heroic people in the galaxy. Also, I think O'Vesa, the earth caste scientist and one of the members of the eight, deserves a little mention as well.

Farsight is good protagonist material if GW ever wants to bring the setting to the mainstream through a morally defensible character. Any Imperial would just suck the moment a servitor pops up on-screen.
