I don't know why am I talking about face paint but it's gots to do with the symbols they represent or if the performer embodies a role of something and he becomes the lead, leader, artist. I like painting on flat surface, think of tattoos, they feel like there is a story of plot, visual effect... Or in fantasy movies there are alien like roles where the morph is realistic and interactive. I studied drawing by the way.

Tbh real screamo (aka skramz), but more specifically emoviolence bands like pg.99 and combatwoundveteran are kinda close to grindcore in sound, the band Orchid (which yall should definitely check out) even made a split with Pig destroyer. Its really sad imo that screamo (or even emo) became a derogatory buzzword in the mainstream and getting the spotlight away from the actual genres/subculture (real emo is way different than the mallcore stuff)
