The Macro Photography season started and it is awesome! Even thought there are not many insects around there is a lot to explore, especially when taking a closer look at wet wood or when you twist rotten trees. I removed the dust from my laowa 60mm and sony 90mm macro lens, added a flash diffuser and ecountered different types of springtails: What are you waiting for?;)

The creature you asked about is an Onychophora, common name Velvet Worm. Over 200 species have been described so far and they are a very ancient and unchanged form of life, surviving several mass extinctions.

Most of those critters are around all winter in temperate regions, especially the springtails! Just need to root around in the leaves a bit.

Thank you! For some shots I just press my lens on my hand to avoid shake, some are shot on a tripod, some with motorized slider;)

I was planning to photograph red wood ants but snow came the next day. Its now a week later and the snow is washing away & feels warmer.

The equipment used listing is missing one critical item: the "macro microphone" to record the slithering and millipede footsteps. Can you share what made those sounds?

I created the Sounds in Post production .... sorry the sounds are super silent and useable;)
