Now that I'm older REALLY weary of females being judged based on their birthdate and looks. Women in 20 's & early 30's with 10 kids and a gazillion stretch marks are considered to have (fleeting) value, but once the birth calendar chimes mid/late 30's then their value suddenly disappears, even those that still have body condition from their 20's. Meanwhile gray haired old men get to live brand new lives.. and we women gladly judge each other - until we unknowingly stumble into that magical cancel birthdate! IMO wear whatever passes your personal standard and continually reassess if it holds up because skin/muscles have started to sag or change your structure in certain body areas, etc.

I gave my concert tees to my granddaughter...the ones that I hadn't given to my son. She loves them. I am rediscovering my style in my 60's and having fun. I am also cleaning out my closets. It is making me feel much better and free from all the clutter.

I agree, I think as long as its not stained, dirty, in bad taste or ripped/torn, go for it. I cannot be a "fashionista" and buy new clothes all the time. If I love it I'm wearing it.

I’ll be 69 this year. While food shopping a few days ago a well dressed and groomed woman about 10 years older than me, complimented me by saying, “ You look so adorable.” I responded by saying, “ and so are you!” My immediate impression was this lady was friendly, enjoyed life and was joyous while she valued herself to care about her appearance in public. I’d like to add she had a wonderful sense of humor too. Simply a delightful soul!

Why is the video cut in half don't get a full visual. I still wear T-shirts some with design or saying on the front. I wear linen onsie coveralls for comfort and they art light for wearing in the heat. I don't wear heels or bootys my feet hurt so I still have to wear my suede fleece lined bootees'. My world is quit laid back not much dressing up. I have moved to more natural fabrics for jewelry it's silver anything not chunky. I guess I'm more for comfy in my 60's

When I crossed over 60 I did a massive clean out of my wardrobe. I had a lifetime collection of wonderful clothing which I never wore anymore. This included several gowns from various galas I'd attended. I selected the most valuable, had them dry cleaned & placed them in a consignment store. There were some pieces that held sentimental value I turned into home goods. A couple quilts, sweaters became decor pillows and so on. The balance I donated to a charity shop. I made one last pass to organize a 40 piece all classics capsule wardrobe. Now I add a couple pieces each season I may or may not keep. I don't follow any specific rules rather rely on what I love.

Dorrie nailed this topic. “Only have clothing in your closet that you actually wear.” I did this purge during the summer and it’s absolutely freeing to know I can wear every item, that they’re flattering, and I actually want to wear them. Seems like such a simple thing, but is truly transformative!

Please also spare us the short shorts, dyed unkempt hair with split ends, and halter tops. That goes for women of any age. I would put GoGo boots and flashing lot of skin sporting fading tattoos in the NoGo category as well. It screams TACKY. It really does. It screams I WILL DO ANYTHING TO BE NOTICED. Hey!!!! Over HERE....!!!! Look at ME! I disagree about keeping up with and following so called fashion trends. A lot of them are in very poor taste, cheaply made and not classy at all. In some cases, actually harmful: Stilettos and platforms seriously unsafe and not advisable. Lots of falls and orthopedic injury out there not worth the risk. These throw your center of balance off, cause falls, aggravate bunions, and other foot issues. Dorie may be one in a million who may be able to pull off wearing this sort of foot gear without adverse side effects. But not so and not advisable in general for masses of women. Dont fall for marketing scams! If you still have no idea who you are, and what you feel comfortable in by the age of 60 or at the very latest, 70, you must be a very late bloomer indeed! A 76 year old woman may indeed need to get rid of the canvas slides and polyester housedresses she has defaulted to in the midst of a lack of a sense of her own style. After all this time, do we really need to ask permission to be who we are? Lol.

I buy t shirts at Goodwill for $2.99 I wear them for gardening, cleaning, walking the dog and if they are cute I wear them for shopping or running errands. I prefer 100% cotton clothing because I live in a hot climate but I don’t think these are written in stone. I love vintage but at my age I can’t do an entire outfit I take one piece and mix it. Find your own style. I thought the 83 year old looked awful in that off the shoulder top and spiky awful brown hair style but if she feels good and it makes her confident then more power to her. It’s all about how you feel about yourself in what you’re wearing.

This woman has incredible style, I've checked her website and her fashion sense is fantastic and whilst it is super stylish and attractive it is also age appropriate. There is nothing on her site that you think only belongs on a 20 or 30 something, but a 20 or 30 something could definitely wear it! No dowdy or frumpy clothing, wish more women over 60 dressed this way.

I agree pancake flat is not cool. looks terrible and is really for 10 year olds in my opinion. We older folks need a base on our shoe.. there are so many choices and running shoes are so splendid, colorful and really are simple additives to a pant suit for example. simplify and I suggest no patterns on the main outfit, add sparkle with jewelry, great hair and makeup..

I have decided that rule number one as I age is to not try so hard to look young and fashionable. I have noticed that women who try too hard often look older and rather desperate than if they would just relax and go more natural. I do not want to look overdone when I am old. Too much make up and a gal can look cartoonish, which is not how to age gracefully.

The main thing that keeps women being able to dress in a more youthful way is staying thin as they age. When women begin to gain weight and start to show the post menopausal body type, the clothing choices become very limited. Try going into any plus size department and take a look around. It looks like you are shopping for table clothes with all the flowers, checks and patterns and the huge amounts of material. Chic is not a word that comes to mind. So, I guess I have my work cut out for me. I look at my closet and there is nothing in it that reflects who I am. I always loved body conscious clothes that had a clean straight line and dressing in a classic style with lots of scarves, accessories and belts. Even my coats were fitted. Now I wear tents and it is not fun. I feel like I am dressing a bowling ball. So, ladies...my tip is, Stay Thin! Then you can wear anything you want and feel good about it.

Haha! I’ve always been at least 60 lbs overweight (since 6th grade or 10 years old) and look great. You have to go to shops that carry current fashions and try clothes on and look at yourself at all angles in the mirror. Try everything on and find what looks great. I’m 58 and 5’10 at 225 lbs. Don’t settle for something that makes you look frumpy. You can look and feel great, too.

Dorrie has a wonderful sense of self and style for her lifestyle. Loved those bold necklaces. It’s so easy to get in a rut as we get older (68) and our lifestyle changes...along with our body. About 2 months ago I got a hair brained idea to try on almost all the clothes in my “daily” closet to see what still fit (!) or just felt eh. So I prettied up and went for it. It was, not surprising, to be half uplifting and half depressing. Good cleansing. Except for when I was working and in suits, I’ve always been the casual lifestyle type with t-shirts and skinny pants or slacks. Perhaps more like you, Margaret. The outcome is that I decided to look for new updated bold necklaces, earrings, scarves and jackets to compliment my casual look. I think it’s great to be reminded every now and then to tweek things. Oh, another tweek is replacing existing t-shirts with 3/4 sleeve style which are a little more flattering and dressy for my more mature arms😀. Also new bras. No sagging girls. I’ll never be a flaring standout but I don’t want to be invisible either.

Would love her as a friend but as an ex bunny working at the Playboy club in London now in my sixties who has taken great care of herself, I personally wouldn't wear brightly coloured high heeled boots and chunky jewellery. The experts are always saying certain items will make you look older as you age. I do have a dark leather jacket, pumps, black Chelsea boots and jeans. I just think there are limits as you age but good on her for doing her own thing. She's harmless and a lovely person. That's the main thing.

I know why, 60+ women go for comfort which they wrongly confuse with frumpy. Just keep dressing frumpy and leave all the men to me.

Wow what happened to hitting the age that women nick off telling each other what to wear or what to like to wear. For years I would admire older women who dressed like what she said to wear. But one evening at a party there was a Wonderful Woman that had a similar style as her an when she walked out all the men were laughing and said Really?i ask What ?!? All 12 men said the same thing. She is very sweet but she needs to just stop trying so hard . I was floored 😱I that night said Humm I’m going to dress the way I personally want no matter what anyone says 💪🏻💜

I could understand why the men were talking that way. Most men I know think overdressing and too much makeup and artificiality wreck a woman's looks.

If it makes her happy, more power to her. It sure wouldn’t make ME happy to wear it!
