I wanted to talk about some trends that are going out of style that you might want to avoid purchasing this year. I will also talk about the trends that are a better option for you that can replace the trend that is going out.

Chicos offers elbow length sleeve T’s. And they offer frequent sales. I think there is a T sale going on now. If you have a store close by check out their sale racks. I got a cute over $200 jacket for $69. I know you are not looking for a jacket. This is an example of their sales and clearance. Good luck. 3/4 length sleeve are also an option. I have a wing span that could compete with an angels. I’m not an angel. Just have the wing span.

I actually have a pair that look so flattering on me! (I'm 5' 7") 'Not the super wide ones, but a gentle barrell leg - COS Arch jean. They are so easy to style, I can wear any shoes. I can wear any tops as long as they are tucked in. Love them!

I have three pair of barrel jeans from GAP that are really flattering. They aren’t too extreme and are loose in all the right places.

Im 61 I wear baggy jeans, I wear the barrel jeans, love them, mine are not low rise, they are mid rise. I agree with the baby doll, I do wear them at home. Jumpsuit I don’t care for at all. I’ve always just dressed the way I want , regardless if they are trending, I love classic pieces. Shoes wear whatever works for you.

I have just purchased some slightly barrel shaped jeans. I love them. I also like baggy jeans/pants if worn with a fitted top. Things I won't wear are socks with loafers or sandals, really big oversized sweatshirts.

I love barrel leg jeans, the shape is fun and interesting. It's been transformative to watch younger women of all sizes dress without caring about making themselves look smaller. They're not afraid to take up visual space and that bodes well for the future.

Agree on most of these but (the right) babydoll dress is actually my most flattering silhouette as a natural apple with a high waist, long torso, big belly and short, slender legs. Of course the seam has to fit in the spot, the bottom can’t be overly voluminous, and it has to be a good length. Bonus points and it becomes a dream dress if the top hits the right proportions with necklines/shoulders. It’s the perfect dress for someone like me with an underserved body type. I try to find all the ones when they trend and stock up. My best this year has been one from Target in the Fall.

I can remember wearing dresses over trousers back in the seventies. They were very short mini dresses that became tunic tops in the winter with flared trousers and a chain belt. Oh my, Jamie. I'd forgotten all about that and now you're putting ideas in my head! Maybe I'd better forget again 😊

When I first started watching this video, I had to stop and make sure it was a current one. Because …what the heck? I have been out of touch with what is current since…forever, it seems. I have been a caregiver to my husband through his cancer journey for almost 3 years now and my entire focus was on looking presentable. I bought multiples of pull on jeans and tunic tops as hospital wear. A lot of crazy trends have come and gone, obviously, in the interim. I think I’ve re-entered the fashion scene at the right time, where classic and feminine styles seem to reign supreme.

I will continue to wear things that are comfortable, like platforms. I won't move on to things I find uncomfortable, like kitten heals. I have lived long enough to have seen most of these styles come and go before. Many of them feel yucky to wear or just don't look good on me. Some of them I simply don't like, peplum tops are one. Out of these trends you mentioned I have never tried barrel pants. Makes me curious to try them on. One never really knows unless they try for themselves.

The big ones make the models look like old school cowboys who have been on their horses for too long. The less exaggerated ones might be nice on some people though

@@julieme7927 They have elements of Japanese style to them I find interesting. . We have such divergent body shapes and sizes how could any style look "good" or "bad" on everyone? These sorts of styling videos where someone suggests this looks good and that dose not, seem to m to be more about how people react to change. This is evident in the fact that you will often hear that someone who hated one style embraces it a year latter when more people are wearing it.

At 75 I’ve tried many loose baggy, flare jeans and pants, all look awful! People need to boycott all these clothes that are designed to make all women and girls look terrible. Let men be men, women be women! Women need to respect themselves and try to look their best!

It all depends on where your style trend is. I'm 78 and try and wear some of the trends.Im also young thinking. The only thing I will not wear are mini skirts or dreeses!😅

Thank u for the video. Im 55yo , 5'3" 115lbs, i wont wear rodeo clown barrel jeans🤣. Its just not my preference. If brands offered more petite scaled clothing for the "loose oversized look" i would probably try it out. But at some point in life decide what you're comfortable wearing and wear it with confidence. Dont feel the pressure to chase trends and FOMO.

I’m 58 and thought I’d be cool so I got wide leg jeans, and I mean there was enough material for shorts for me, I tripped the whole time I wore them. Those went to Goodwill that next day after I washed them. Best of luck to those that can walk without tripping over all that material.

That loose baby doll dress can look good in a midi or even maxi look especially in hot climates but they have to be long enough so they don’t look like you grabbed something out of a little girls closet

I avoid Baggy, puddling, jeans and Balloon jeans. I am very slim, petite and they are not for me. Straight leg jeans, or a flare are best for me. Love Blazers which fit me. I like the Denim jumpsuit. I cannot buy from Amazon, thanks to vanity sizing. I bought some very cool mid heel slingbacks which a from the 1940s, 1950 when my size was available. Whomever was the designer of some of these fashions disliked women. Those sheer offerings are not attractive unless you are a street walker or stalking a man or woman; they will run away, but chase is fun! Baby doll clothing went out of fashion in the 1960s along with empire waisted dresses. Do you want to look Pregnant? Peplum tops are fantastic for me as they give me more shape. Appreciated this video, I had fun watching it!

I have worn the pants under the dress and it is really cute. I wore a sweater dress with a pair of leather leggings under it. It was perfect for winter. I don’t think I would wear the style in the summer though.

The thing about this, which distinguishes it from the others trends Jamie listed, is that you don't have to buy or invest in anything new, Just try pairing some pants and a dress and see if you like it. When the trend fades, you still have those two garments to wear separately.

The absolute fashion trend to ignore is the full baggy jeans. Looking intentionally like a frump is NOT the look to go for unless you are looking for negative attention. Folks will take one look at you and whisper. OMG!!!

Not a fan of the peplum. Maybe it's just my body type... I'll miss the moderately chunky sandal. So comfortable to walk in (lots of tread). I don't like the new sandals because I can't wear them to walk. I walk miles everyday, to church, to Trader Joe's, and to and fro to the grocery or to the nursery to pick up plants. I don't want to wear fancy sandals, but I also don't wear sneakers (not comfortable for me and seem "dressed down"). So...I'll probably wear my pale lavender chunky sandals & be out of style :) On the flip side, I love circle skirts!

I hate the dress-over pants trend. Why ruin a dress or skirt by adding bulky, hot and uncomfortable pants under it? Pants OR a dress, not both! I do see leggings under dresses or skirts where I live, but it’s always very much part of that baggy, hippie style worn by older women. I would much rather wear tights under my dresses, as I always have, if I need the warmth. I match them to my dress/skirt and footwear for the longest, leanest look (not everyone needs or wants to look taller, but I do). I’ve seen influencers wearing wild-colored tights, like neon lime green, with their neutral dresses and open-toed sandals! That’s another look I wouldn’t wear, the color of the tights should at least match one of the outfit colors, to make the outfit look cohesive, IMHO.

I'm so glad i found your channeI! I recenty tried the dress over jeans look for ladies Bible study night. I missed out on it in the 90s/Y2K 😂 I used a plaid flannel babydoll chemise over a baby tee, with bootcut jeaens and a ribbed fitted cardigan. ❤ I never thought I'd say this, but I'm thinking of trying a jumpsuit! There are some really cute ones out there.

I have a thick lace skirt and one organza skirt that I wear a black slip under and I'm well covered and have had many complaints on. This how I do the sheer thing.

Avoiding a baby doll style is not a challenge for me, lol. How do people wear the slingback? I love them but the strap NEVER stays up; regardless of the brand...it's so frustrating. I even bought sticky straps specifically for holding the straps in place (fail).

Hi Jamie, I'm new to your channel and love your sense of style. I do want to let you know however, that at 67 years young, I'm absolutely loving the baggie wide leg trend right now! I opted for the mid rise as I'm petite, but have bought them to fit my waist nicely rather than hang sloppy on me, and I'm just loving their their fit and style! I bought a no-stretch pair of white denim ones for my spring wardrobe and just love them. No, I don't look ridiculous in them, but rather, a fabulous updated trendy look for the 2024 season. I think the key to success with this style of jean is to order a size down so they don't hang off you, but rather drape nicely on your silhouette. Of course I also love the the starlight leg look and have added a light wash and black denim pair to my wardrobe as well. I can't wait to be seen in all of them!

Baggy anything is not good on my petite frame. I hate the oversized trend and wish it would go away, but designer brands just keep pushing and pushing it, then it filters down the price level. I like fitted, but not tight, styles - they show the figure, but don’t squeeze anywhere. I hope the pendulum doesn’t swing back to those “shrunken” styles of the late 90s and early 00s, either. There is a reason why certain fits are “classic”, it’s because they flatter the figure, are never extreme, and are comfortable. Another silhouette I hate is the big, long top/tunic over leggings or skinnies. A mature woman wearing this always looks frumpy. It’s 25 years out of style, time to move on; there is more to style than covering up the tummy and this look just really draws attention to it, anyway.

No balloon jeans for me at 5'1. I love the flare leg though. Hate the oversized blazers , too short for that. I don't like the baby doll dresses either. I also don't like the jumpsuit it's frumpy looking but the other jumpsuits you showed were nice. Love the slingbacks but don't like the Mary Jane's. Don't like the dresses over pants either😂sheer skirt is a big no also. No baby doll tops either.

I took a chance and bought a pair of balloon (barrel) jeans from Old Navy, about a month ago, and they're my new favorite jeans! Who'd have thunk it? 😅 They bow out slightly, which makes my hips look smaller (a win!) and then they taper at the ankle. I know I'm in the minority but they just work for me!

Barrel jeans were popular in the 80s and as long as they were high waisted and I wore a shirt tucked in, they looked great on my hourglass figure. Now a days…..I’m a bit thicker in my waist so it’s probably a no for me……I think there’s a certain energy or essence you must have to pull off a babydoll dress……I don’t think too many people over 45 look appropriate in them……

Totally agree with you on the wonky jump suits! To me, Mary Jane straps on women's shoes are as off as the wonky jump suits. These straps are from children's wear. There are many other straps for women. Again, pants under dresses are how mothers dresses small children waiting for the school bus in extreme cold. Underware showing at the waistline is from hip hop days. Let's quit trying to look like a first grader!

In Europe we are going ever more classic. What is new is the use of deep jewel colours. Very few prints or frills. Precise tailoring. No exaggerated shapes or fabric trailing on the ground. No see-through or over revealing , hooker styles.

Totally with you on the balloon jean. They will be out in a year, I would bet. I’m tall and thin and I tried on a pair that made look ridiculous. Maybe some of the ones that have more refined shape would work, but there are so many other styles to choose from now then I won’t be giving it a go anytime soon. also never really liked the oversize blazer. A little oversized with a tiny bit of slouch was OK but these one that looks like you’re in your obese grandfather’s coat looked really bad in my opinion. Hate that jumpsuit silhouette, too!

Genie jeans! Only women with underdeveloped lookin boy bodies look cute in baby doll dresses. Large print floral , ankle length dresses are just old lady in my opinion. Another 50 year old influencer refers to them a lot! I agree on the shapeless cheap looking jumpsuits- I know someone who wears it- like a sack. I’m not a fan of the gas station/ prison style jumpsuits! I have boney ankles and sling back heels don’t typically work for me- they slip. Sheer skirts and pants look ridiculous. Not into pleated skirts. I like cargo and denim skirts-and peplum - smocked tops.

In oast decades women would wear a long fit and flare style top/ dress iver a pair of slim cigarette style oants. The top would be closed just to the waist . I think that is such an elegantl and kind of sexy look. Does anyone else know what I am talking about? I think it was a 50s style naybe?

It's based off of a middle eastern design. Try looking up Pakistani salwar suit. I just love those knee-length tunics with the slits up the side and cigarette pants. The party and wedding designs are stunning.

Yes. I actually went to a Pakistani wedding. The women were all dressed that way. The colors and designs were stunning! I felt so dull in my western dress next to them.
