Over the few months I've been almost obsessed with wearing beige. I've always preferred neutrals and darker colours and have never been a fan of bright colours. But lately I've craved more and more beige esp lighter beige and ecru tones. This video made me wonder what this means? And I think the answer is a beige aesthetic helps clear my mind from all the chaos I'm feeling. As a chronic depression sufferer I'm going through a difficult patch atm and I think all the beige is a blank canvas that makes me feel calm and doesn't add to the overwhelming feelings I'm experiencing. It doesn't interfere with the senses I guess? It genuinely make me feel good and that is something I very much need right now. All very fascinating!

As a former resident of New Orleans, I know how color can heal you. My home in New Orleans was nearly destroyed in hurricane Katrina. After the storm, I lived in two cities before finally settling in one place a year later. When we purchased our new home, I wasn’t emotionally up to designing my new home so I hired a decorator. I told her at our first meeting, I wanted my home to be calming and soothing like a spa. She chose five different shades of green based on the lighting in each area for the paint. It worked. Whenever anyone entered our home they immediately commented on how calm they felt.

I don't know about all the chakra jazz, but I do know that people are drawn to certain colors naturally sometimes bc they look nicer in those colors. I'm a spring too. Harder to find those colors sometimes.

Love this! I experience this all the time. Whenever I’m feeling low on energy I crave red, if I’m lonely or feel misunderstood I crave turqoise & blue, if out of control and lost I crave yellow, etc. This is profound and I think people underestimate it because it’s unconscious. We can’t really ”study” it objectively, but it’s very intuitive.

Nice video! I tested this out. I stopped wearing black altogether. People responded to me differently. People (male and female) were friendly and would do things for me. I'd get free stuff lol I also wore more dresses and skirts. I guess it's more feminine? My friend would often tell me to show my peacock feathers. I don't always like attention. I have had a history of depression too. So even neutrals are a step up from black clothing if all you've written is black!

I love colors and especially your analysis of people’s best colors! I have always loved colors and patterns that match my brightness, but I never thought I was Warm, because of my blue veins and reddish blush…so glad to know that’s just because I’m very fair. The citrus colors spring greens, peach and coral pinks and oranges I love make me glow much more than baby pink and blue and lavender. Thank you for your myth-busting! Colors that make people see me first make me so much more confident and Spring colors, themselves, cheer me up. I love orange 🍊! I just bought a winter cardigan with a light orange pattern, so I can wear my Spring orange all year!

Ok, this is probably my very favourite video from you ever. So, so fascinating and educational. Watching this was an "aha!!!" moment for me.

I've really been gravitating towards softer, muted neutrals like taupe, gray, camel, leaning more towards the cool tones though; very stone-like. I've been pairing it with pops of color in my jewelry that I design.... mostly periwinkle, lilac and sky blue. It's interesting because I used to wear super bright colors, but now I feel better in neutrals; not so overpowering with bright colors. Plus, I'm a "light summer", and those bold colors just don't flatter me. I can't seem to get enough of this look, neutrals with lavender, and truly feel like I'm coming into a new phase! Grounded and spiritual.

Colour count of my small wardrobe. Top 3 colours: Blue 36%, red 31% and black 13%. Other colours - grey 10%, white 5%, beige 2.5% and green 2.5%. Interesting to breakdown colour makeup. I wear red when l want to stand out or need an energy boost. I wear grey when l feel sensitive, the colour feels like a hug. In summer l enjoy wearing blue and white together, makes me feel refreshed.

Intersting and fun take. I'm so happy recently that bright cool clear colours are in fashion, especially bright grass green, which is my absolute favourite colour, and fits my colour palette perfectly (I also have green eyes). I'm now buying everything I can in green, and good investment pieces because it's not all that often in fashion (still have a few pieces from many years ago when it was last in fashion)

My closet is chock full of purples, but I've been opening up to blues, pinks, and greens lately.

I crave a rich earthy brown, I feel very grounded (!) in it, but is it related to any of the chakra colors? It feels like home base to me. From there, I build with slightly warm mid-tones of greens and blues, and some peaches.

Today I also wear orange. I like nearly all colours, the last yeas I wore many neutrals but now I like to wear colours. For me it is important to see every day different outfits.

Blues/greens/teal with navy as a neutral. Love a pop of purple or lilac too. Cannot stand black/white/beige (dull) or red/orange/yellow (too energised and does not suit my skintone!).

Why do you think so many influencers come up with a list or advice about how to be classy and always include black and neutrals? That’s whenI started to go down the wrong path and started to feel depressed wearing all the dark colors. I wanted to look elegant and I thought looking chic meant that I had to wear black or a bitch all the time. There are few KZfaqrs who allow for colors and if they do allow for colors usually the color blue.

Color makes you feel certain ways. There is something enate about it. Certain colors attract us and certain tones of about every color can make us look good. Some better than others. I am not into chakras and energies. But I will agree that there is something about color that is spiritual. I love black and white colors and I do not feel the least blocked off by wearing them. They even go perfect with the colors I do love. So, they complement my favorite colors. Black is slimming and blocks out imperfections in the body. There is nothing any more satisfying that wearing black pants and a red blazer.

That’s so weird cause I’ve been obsessed with orange lately too. I express it with my nail polish (I’m wearing it right now). Essie has come out with oranges their last few collections.

I’ve always tended to lean towards neutrals, especially black and white. I used to travel for work, quite a lot, and like to pack light, so black and white worked well for that purpose. Blue has always been my favorite color. Lots of blue and white and cream through my home. When I do go for color, it is usually plums and fuchsias.

My problem is I'm a Spring, but find my colours are hard to find in stores, so I do wear black, cream or white, I have learnt to accessorise with my colours in scarves and jewellary, but do find fashion trends frustrating, as they are mostly, black, charcoal, and red! 💋💋

Well I really wonder what my wardrobe says about me. BLACK. GRAY. The occasional pop of blue jeans or a pink cashmere pullover. I do also like like tonal stripes in white/gray/black. But the day to day is entirely black. All my shoes, sandals and sneakers are black. I'm very fair, cool toned, Fitzpatrick 1. I used to love my yellow tee shirts, until I realized they looked terrible on my cool skin (yellow is way too warm) and many decades ago when I was still in school I envied all my friends who could paint on a blood red lippie... seriously, I was well into my late 40s before I realized I could in fact wear dark lipstick... if it was PLUM (which is cool toned). But I have a soft spot in my heart for the ultra warm orange. I bought a few burnt orange tops in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, thinking of my 30s when my favorite top was a dark orange boiled wool hoodie pullover thing from Patagonia. Wherever did that top go to? Probably Goodwill or something. Too bad. I loved that thing. But that is what made me spring for something akin to it in this year's sale. Of course, I bought the same things in black as well. Whenever I wonder what color, I always get black or dark gray. Those are my colors.

I feel so stumped! My closet was out of control because I love color but struggled to put together outfits because I had too many choices. I've pared down to a lot of neutrals and my closet is finally more manageable, but I still crave colors. How does one reconcile the need to keep one's wardrobe manageable with the need to enjoy and benefit from a variety of colors?

What should we do if we are craving a colour that isn’t really in our palette? E.g. Orange is delightful but what is the orange to wear for true cool seasons? I’m a soft autumn so does like a burnt orangey-brown count?

For a color like pink would you put that into a category of its own or would it just be a variation of red? I have been pulled to green lately....now I understand that it's connected to the fact that I'm going through a divorce. I'm also starting a new career and wonder if that's why I've been pulled towards pinks also...especially bright neon orangey pink.
