It was circa 2007-ish. I was a fresh-out-of-college music journalist when I met these humble Cebu rockers in Kuala Lumpur, in a post-show interview (along with a local band named Love Me Butch and a band called Furcurve from Aussie) for a music magazine. It was at a local pub/music venue named Laundry Bar, one of the most sought-after music venues at that time. They were very, very humble. We talked about music nonetheless, and how ecstatic they were to be able to play out of Phil, and looking forward to doing more shows outside. I remember I was given a copy of "The Future Of Ear Repair". I had that CD played on rotation for I can't remember how long in awe - which led me to tonnes of great Filipino bands such as Typecast, Franco, Urbandub, Chicosci, and many more. Sure, it was not per-se up to par in terms of the sound production if we're to scale it to the current quality, but I thought it sounded really great. Which in essence, it still is. "Breathe" and "Make Love" were the most on-repeat tracks. Sure, things changed over the years as does your music playlist. EDM, pop, hip-hop, R&B, and so forth. Even some bands changed their genre in time. But listening to these dudes rocking out as how they were more than a decade ago surely reminisces me of my youth. I got nothing but love and respect for this band to still actively making music, while so many bands had thrown their towels. I've never been to the Philippines. But I really hope one day, when all these pandemic shenanigans to blow over, I could go over and see them live once again. Much love from a long-time fan, all the way from Malaysia!
