When you have an epic bromance like Dom and Brian, death is not an option.
Whenever I vid for the first time in a fandom, I feel like the first cut is always a hot mess. I think it's because I'm so hyped to be working with new clips and a new relationship and everything is so shiny and I want to smush everything together all at once. This should have been easy, but I still don't think I completely got there when it follows a logical story. Meh. Maybe next time,
Normally I am a "every verse, switch character perspective" kind of gal. However, it didn't quite work that way. Like, if I was really trying to tell a story, I would have kept the "I paid for these concrete shoes" section as in, then moved Brian rescuing Dom from the prison bus to the first chorus. But it didn't feel like we earned that moment yet, you know what I mean? We've only had 37 seconds with these characters and one of them is already throwing away their career and life to save the other? That's a little sudden. But I still don't think a better clip went with the concrete shoes line, ergo, we have Dom getting on a prison bus early in the vid and not getting off it until much later.
So the first chorus is obviously how Brian has saved Dom, then we do a little musical interlude where we see Brian fully integrated into Dom's life through the BBQ. Then we settle down a bit for the second verse. Brian is starting to turn away from his job and question if he's doing the right thing. And then we come to my favorite clip/lyric portion of the vid - "heart and soul unparalyzed" paired with Dom and Brian giving each other shit and Brian just laughing. God. That stupid way he tucks his head down when he's laughing, he just oozes happiness, which is such a contrast to the previous scenes of him with the LAPD/FBI.
Also, at 2:28? Is Brian the angriest soccer mom you've ever seen or what? Make me giggle every time. I am such a weirdo.
The last thing I wanted to mention was the bit where we shift from Dom holding the cross to the cross hanging from Brian's rearview mirror. That is the moment I couldn't stick earlier in the vid, because you needed the characters to get there. Dom has saved Brian, Brian has saved Dom, together they're always going to be stronger. And then they ride off into the sunset together. The end. :)
