Check out Thunder Road - basically exactly as you say - Mad Max on a board! Super simple mechanics but you actually move the road under the cars which gives a pretty neat representation of travelling along the highway. It’s a great game, but can be hard to find in good condition as it came out in 1986! Check eBay and you’ll probably find some though, I found a decent copy there.

Thunder Road is awesome fun! My best friend held onto his from childhood. I hung on to some enviable 80s classics too but never had Thunder Road. Glad I have some sort of access to it. This game in the video, IMO, looks pretty bad actually.

Slap some paint on those minis and it can be!

Hey MadmanCZ, I was the lead game designer on this project and I just thought I'd give you a peek behind the curtain. An early draft of this game did use a Thunder Road style scrolling board mechanism, but we quickly realized something: Thunder Road is a game where you are racing ahead, and there's a reason to rush up the board. But in this game you are either stealing from or destroying a vehicle and so rather than rushing up the board, you mainly want to stay near the target vehicle, or at least orient your movement in relation to it. As such, we found that the scrolling board didn't really work like it does in Thunder Road. So we decided to instead use the scrolling elements like the wrecks, stunt cards, and unmanned vehicles to provide the sense of forward motion. Obviously whether that works for any given player is up to them, but in my obviously totally biased opinion, I think the game really does have a high octane feeling to it, much like the scenes its emulating from the films.

@@Sarx1 Hello Aaron, thanks so much for the lengthy reply. I guess as players we don't get to see what went into the testing and concept designs. Quite cool to know you considered the moving boards. I guess you're right that Thunder Road is a different game gameplay wise. I just think the movement would have added extra tension and excitement as you jump from your car onto the enemy and then as new boards come up in front with maybe some unforeseen danger for which you have time to prepaid a turn in advance would have given the game an extra edge of excitement. Mind, I haven't played the game yet so I'll need to play it to see if it's exciting enough. Maybe I am wrong. 😉 Thanks for your insight anyway. Really appreciated. Regards from the Czech Republic. Just completed our first game and it was great! Some strategy choices based on number of players and character choice. Love the movies and this is a good game for re-enacting some of the awesome action scenes.

But it doesn’t specify about if there is no adjacent car. And I was unclear at the stunt section, as it didn’t seem to specify when you place a new stunt

If you can no longer fulfill one of the victory conditions, then you'd lose.

Hey Darrin, in that case, it won't move. Similar to when it tries to move, but can't because cars are blocking the spaces.

I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - and great to hear you're having fun playing Matt!

you may have found the answer already but no, you cant. on page 6 of the rule book under adjacency, it has a diagram showing you directly besides is north and south of the vehicle
