That’s not that fast. And it’s not that difficult to pack one. 6-10 minutes is the norm. Under 5 and your booking. Also one that big you can stuff in the bag and not worry. One half that size has to be more precisely packed

With the possible exception of stowing the brakes (not shown, we can't tell whether he did it or the jumper), the guy skips no steps. Even double-stowing the lines on what are often "loose stows". That is a fast, but very *clean* pack job. Well done, sir! And thanks, AllSawedUp, for posting!

Same as anything, the more you do it the faster you get. Took my bike to the shop the other day, the guy did in 10 mins what would've taken me an hour. He didn't miss any steps of the packing process, I would jump that. In fact when I've used rental rigs I have no doubt jumped 5 minute pack jobs. As long as my reserve isn't a 5 minute pack I'm happy.

It’s not the missed steps but the missed inconsistencies that are caused from being complacent. If I were packing my own chute like that than absolutely no problem . But if I were a nuby and it was my first time and I watched my chute get packed that fast I’d be nervous as a mother fucker.

was it a good opening is th right question! I saw a fast pack job once on a Unit. I asked the guy about it and he said - squares always open! Well, it opened but with a lineover. He tried to clear it until way to late and the reserve opened literally on impact. I will take a longer pack any time. The only time I tried to hurry for a jump was 6 months after I had fractured 3 vertebrae in my neck and the opening was AGONY. It did however open... I was jumping a Splatostar (Stratostar) at the time which opened quick no matter what.

+Morgan4090 Its what everyone in skydiving would call a parachute or more commonly just a canopy. If you want to get into pedantry and patents perhaps it could/should be called a parafoil, however in common use it isnt. Using the term Parafoil may be recognised (by old jumpers)as a brand name of a particular early square canopy in the 70s. Was an excellent thing when it opened.

Trees Flowers Haha, yeah, I found that out the hard way early one morning when I was last jumper out on the lawn dart load. Luckily I looked at the ground in freefall, got spooked and dumped at 8k. I rode the rears all the way across the river and unstowed the brakes at 1k to enter the landing pattern. Had I deployed any lower, I would have been hiking.
@treesflowerssunshine9 жыл бұрын
AllSawedUp HaHa That's funny. I jumped with a few guys I had met there and luckily my buddy I was down in FL with jumped alone. We were long on the spot and dumped about 4k. They were a little below me and one by one I saw them go halfway across the river then turn back towards the road. I was jumping the 'ole 7 cell and I had my knees up for the least resistance, on the rears. As I crossed the river I was thinking I could make it. I looked up and thought worse case scenario I land on what looked like a golf course. HaHa Man I couldn't believe it I made it all the way back to the peas. HaHa. We packed up and said bye to everyone and those poor souls STILL weren't back. It was January 1st and that same day I watched a guy go up in some windy shit (surprising in FL right?HaHa) and break his leg. Bring in the helicopter. It was a cool trip. Jumped Sebastian, DeLand, Lake Wales and Z-Hills. Man we had a blast.
