Damn, I can see I got a long way to go. I've just learned how to tame a Dodo bird.

The central boreal region on Valguero is a great spot for taming common carnivores. Right about where the semi circle ruined archways on top of the hill at the metal ore spot there is. There are plenty of Ptera, Argy, Sabers, Rex etc. that spawn on that hill or nearby. The shape of the terrain channels them down predictable paths most of the time. There is nice big rock on the plateau adjacent the hill with a natural ramp on one side but the rest is steep enough that most interfering creatures can't get up it. But what really sells it as an ideal common carnivore taming spot is that Ovis spawn everywhere around there. As do Diplodocus and Brontos. So even if all the Ovis go AWOL the second you actually need them (as they tend to do) you have other options. I left with the kibble rework and came back when Valguero released. Haven't felt the need to make any kibble yet. You're really not loosing that many points using mutton and prime. Nothing an hour or two of grinding can't recover if you really need them.

I was planning to tame a spino but instead a Rex came out of nowhere and killed the spino I already had my traps down so I said screw it and I successfully tamed it. I was at level 35 when I tamed it too. It’s the Best achievement I’ve gotten in that game.

If you need to tame a rex that is rather a low level or mid level you can try to tame a gallimimus to outrun the rex when you are shooting it with a bow and tranq arrows, i involved the gallis because they are very fast creatures and u can use them for your advantage. You might need about 30 for low levels and 70 for mid ones and more for high levels and as he said in the vid you might need to make some exceptional kibbles to tame it faster than normal.

You mean to tell me that I spent 2 hours catching scorpions and the t-rex doesn't even use that kibble anymore?

I tamed a low level 8 Rex Using a Cross bow, 25 Tranq Arrows, and literally just raw meat not prime meat or kibble just ordinary meat Yes, I’m an easy mode noobie

Your tips are great. Only thing I find strange is that whenever I tame any level Rex, his torpor drops so slow that I don't need narcotics at all. His torpor is easiest to maintain than any carnivore I tamed. 🤷‍♂️

This is for the people saying that they can't find a Rex no matter where they look. 1.Around the "obsidian mountain“ is a decent place to find a T-rex you can at least spot 2 to 3 rexes while hanging there. But they are random. 2.In the far north coast I have seen 2 rexes when I fly troo there while looking for resources, but near them a little bit to the right near the mountains there's a Giga so be careful. Almost everytime I pass troo there, the Rexes meet the Giga. 3.In the west coast border between the snow and the tropical biome there's a place some call the "mosh-pit", in that area every time you let it, re-enter it (fly or run away and then comeback) there will be new stuff and at least 1 rex, he always spawn there without failed (If you are playing online and decide to go to this area I recommend you to go very well armed and with at least a companion). 4.Then obviously there is Carnivore or Carno island, It’s a little rough to tame there at times so I suggest bringing something strong to kill off other beasts. Here you'll find a Rex or at least a couple of them but also scorpions, raptors, sabertooth, wolf's, carnos and argies. I recommend to build a Taming raft if you going here so you can float it to that island and make sure to clear every hostile around the rex you want, If he fall asleep the rest will eat him alive. 5.Besides there's also one spot of a 50/50 chance that they appear, is at the river cross from the redwoods. There are usually like 5 brontos vs 3 rexes going at each other there, the numbers of rexes never change when they appear. I hope this helps someone, Good luck on the path.

as a newer player i tamed my 1st rex yesterday. the trap box was 3X3 and only 2 walls high, with 4 stairs (2 wide, 2 high) built on a raft. worked fine.

Rexes are easy to tame because they are really slow when they flee. The problem with this is that if the rex flees in to a predator infested area it could definitely ruin your tame.

I searched this because I am in an area on where you travel north you will see the North Zone with snow And just outside it The Area is filled with allosaurus,T-Rex, Stegos, Smilodons, Carnotaurs, and Alpha versions of them Not to mention the Giant scorpions

You should say if ur playing on valguero use mutton, cuz at beach zone 2 ovis are really common in the tree areas, and rexes spawn ontop of a cliff in the white mountains.

You can just put 3 dinosaur stone gateways in an unfinished square, put a large bear trap in the unfinished square, then place another stone dinosaur gateway on the unfinished square, and the rex is now trapped:)

I dont use traps i only tranq them with good armor and chase them like a dog chase cat

Chances are you’re likely gonna get multiple spinos before you get 1 rex because spinos spawn in the starter easy region while rexes spawn in much more dangerous places.

If you have a friend, get a argentavis and pump it's stamina up, then pick up your friend and let him shoot the rex with tranq arrows or tranq darts while you fly away just fast enough that the rex can't hit you.

There’s another trap method actually u need a large bear trap once its trapped use 3 big Dino gates and put doors one the first one and the last one

My big brain, "cmon sarco, we gotta lure the big guy to the lake so I can shoot it." This did work, the rex is not nearly as fast as a sarco in the water

For the trap, I use the giga method with stone, 4 stone dinosaur gates and a bear trap, no gates, it works extremely well.

What I do is I make a circle out of stone gate frame and leave a piece open and place a bear trap inside so once it gets stuck I finish the circle then spam it

Actually you don’t have to clear the area of carnivores because pretty much nothing will attack a downed Rex the only way your rex can die during taming is if your next to the Rex and something tries to hit you and accidentally hits the rex

I recently tamed a level 104 Rex with ease I just ran around turn around for one sec and shot a arrow and eventually it went down and i didn’t need to wait to long I was using prime meat but yet again I let it starve for a min to kill a alpha Carno for its prime and my taming rates were up but I could also use this so thank u and yet again also it’s 2022

I made the least expensive version of this trap the Rexes are slow so run back-and-forth while tranquing them

My first tamed creature was a parasaur. And then a sarco. I tamed a parasaur WAY before I tamed a dodo.

Stone fence foundation would be les costly than a regular stone foundation m. A trap seems more practical than the other methods plus don’t have to run for your life for ten minutes straight

So how do you make a stone ramp? I'm looking through engrams and there's nothing but a slope roof. Is that what you use? Should I use stairs instead? Also I'm on PS4.

Personally i just get a raptor and run around darting it but a SPINO ohhh different story its way harder then it looks traps dont even work all the time for the spino

Bruh I only used ten bear traps and tranq arrows. We had a lot of anger stored in us, as 5 minutes before we found the rare broncho, a tek rex, and of course the rare unicorn. Sadly all of them were bruttaly murdered by different animals. we found a full white rex and a full brown rex. After we had beaten the living crap out of them we put meat and a lot of hatred in them due to the fact that the unicorn died to their small but powerfull hands.

When you get everything you need and start shooting the rex but forget to make a trap

I think Rex aren’t much of a problem for me when u tame a male and female Rex it very easy to tame up a Rex just breed them

If you want to save on materials and time I’d recommend using a high level baryonyx or other medium-large carnivore tame that you can shoot tranq arrows from while remaining mounted and just knock out the Rex that way. Super easy to keep up with, they don’t aggro onto other carnivores very often especially while there are wild herbivores around so you won’t take much damage, that which you do your mount should be able to tank but one or two hits aren’t near lethal. I just tamed a lvl 150 Rex with this strategy.
