My grandpa had something similar he built years ago he ran off his old Ford tractor. Nothing this complex but the same idea.

Yeah I know the older buzz saws were used some. Definitely lacking the safety features of this one.

Yeah, I bought the Samurai just for the fact that the blade moves and not the table, I like the idea of the wheel! Thanks.

I would prefer an engine driven model for sure. However they don’t make the Samurai with its own engine. They make the Ninja where you move the table to a stationary blade. Still really like the way the Samurai operates. It puts a smile on my face when I run it.

Those 2 upgrades are on my list! I saw the one with a splitter but already have my splitter on order.

Great comments and all meant to increase productivity. I like the processing bench ahead of the Samuria and throw that into a dump trailer, from there to the spitter, look at the Easton/Wolfridge splitters, much faster and back into a dump trailer to stack. Less touch time, means more money, go big or go home. Once you do it, you will kick yourself for not doing it earlier. 😍

Agreed 100%. New splitter has already been ordered. I have also purchased a few items to build my infeed table.

I believe they call for like a 25hp tractor. I bought mine from Eastern Farm Machinery in Ontario Canada and paid a little under $2k if I remember correctly but there are cheaper models available.

Maybe your view of it will change once I get it integrated into my processing center plans. If I ever get my truck, tractor, etc back so I can get my setup finished. Maybe not, everyone runs different set ups. But I definitely agree that the boys are workers.

I’m not sure on the new blade price. They are carbide teeth but not replaceable teeth.

I am part of the slow splitter club. Every minute I run it I have to remind myself, it’s faster then doing it by hand…..

I think sometimes I’d be faster by hand lol. But a lot more tired by the end.

@@hardworkingmanoutdoors It is lol. Depending on what kind of wood I am splitting and the diameter. If its something like cherry or ash and no bigger then 12-14 inches a lot of times I will just get out the Fiskars axe. I have a slow old splitter. Considered buying a new one but with the crazy wait times and talking around $10k think the one I have will work fine for now. I did just find one on FB Marketplace that was bought new in Nov but its not really what I am interested in. Its a Timberwolf can't think of the model but I looked and its $9750 new. Guy had it listed for $10k after he said he has split probably 150 cords with it lol. I get it you don't want to wait 6-12 months for one but not gonna pay new price for that. It looked half beat already. I see I looked again and he lowered the price to $8500. I would consider for say $4k range. It had to have already paid for itself. Its so new I don't understand why he would be selling it anyway unless he bought a better splitter or something is wrong with it and he wants it gone. I know I watched a couple videos and heard some issues. The pusher plate for one is way to small but the one video I watched because that plate is so small and the guy was trying to run the 6 sway a big oak round came back and smashed the hydraulic tank so hard it busted it free from the frame and caved in the side and the engine is right there to get smashed too and he said it had a few hydraulic leaks all within the first couple days of owning it. If somebody had those issues within the first few hours of running don't think I want to pay $10k for a beat one

I agree! It is crazy what is going on in the world. I don’t mind paying for quality but that kind of money for that many problems, no thanks!

Yes the Massey runs it well, I just need to get some maintenance done to it. I also have plans for a loading table but have not started that project yet. The new grapple will definitely come in handy!

Yep MF 35 most were 4cylinder gas , easy to work on and easy to split to put a clutch in too

I haven’t used any tree service wood. I usually harvest my own timber. I have run some knotty not perfectly straight stuff through it and it’s okay but definitely excels at straight clean trees.

JB, that was a home built splitter and it was crazy slow!!! I changed a few things on it in a later video and got it down to a respectable splitting time but nothing like what we run now.

Agreed. I plan on eventually trying to get a system where I can feed straight to my splitter from the saw. I will be trying a few different methods and see what works best.

Roller track for the indeed to the samurai, the another section on an incline to the splitter. Let gravity do the work, after you load the logs on the deck. Basically it's the same as a sawmill, each phase has a little drop to it.

Mark, I have picked up some roller tracks and a small treadmill style conveyor. Just need my tractor back out of the shop and some time to get my system in place!

I bought it from a dealer near Guelph, Ontario Canada for just over $2,800USD. The Ninja was about $1,000 cheaper but with that saw you rock the log to the blade instead of pulling the blade through the log.

I may consider that, my next step will most likely be a hanging chain but a laser could work too.

No doubt. I plan on building a staging rack so I can load it with the tractor forks or grapple. Then bump one log at a time over a stop onto more rollers so I can pull it through. I have a plan just not enough hours in the day lol.

Not sure what a Palax is? My current splitter will soon be replaced, definitely needs some upgrades!

@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Yes, that's a lot of hard work for a man. Alot of lifting, pushing and lifting of the wood. Palax is one finnish maker of firewood processors (infeed, cutting, splitting, outfeed). Japa is another, Joe at Ohio Wood Burner just upgraded to a Japa 405 from a Japa 365. We here in Finland have a slightly different approach to making firewood than for example Eastonmade, Wolfridge and (was it?) Dynastar. Those who make "more" firewood over here usually buy/get around 8"-15" diameter logs. We don't have that much big trees, and then trees from second thinning is around the "right" size. The big ones take ~20" logs. We usually go for PTO-driven or electric, not "own" engines exept for the mobile "roadversions". Joes Japa 405 with a Kubota was a special, we will see if everyone will want one after this. Palax, Japa and HakkiPilke are all brands in the same company. Slightly different approaches regarding chain/blade, left/right, automation/"old school" and stuff like that. I would call it healthy competition, we are just a small country but exporting really nice machines. Kone cranes, Ponsse, Wärtsilä, Logset, Valtra, Nokia (before Microsoft came) and so on 🤗.

Thank you for all the information. I would love to have a processor! However at this time my wife said no to the processor so I settled for the Samurai and a new splitter for the time being. It is amazing what equipment is available these days.

Appreciate the feedback. I know I need to shut down the equipment or move away I just get busy and forget, definitely need to get better at that. I have been keeping an eye out for an older tractor to run the Pto and may pick one up eventually, I agree it would be much nicer to buck right into the bucket.

Not paid at all! This is the best I could find when I was shopping. So far overall I’ve been pretty happy with it. I have found a few weak points but overall I’ve been happy. Definitely interested in what else is available!

Daniel, for sure! We were able to get the cycle time on old blue down to 11 seconds from the painfully slow 24 seconds it was running at.
