For 2024 I have a total of 8 new hunting bows on hand - a record for me. In this video, I test each of these bows for speed through my chronograph. Each bow is set up (as close as possible) to 70 pounds of draw length and 30 inches of draw length. I shot each bow with the exact same two arrows. One weighing 350 grains and one weighing 455 grains.
Here are the bows and their advertised speeds.
Hoyt Alpha X 33 - 334 FPS
Bear Whitetail Maxx - 339 FPS
Elite Ethos - 340 FPS
Xpedition XLite 29 - 340 FPS
Prime RVX 34 - 342 FPS
Bowtech Core SR - 344 FPS
APA Black Mamba 33 - 345 FPS
Mathews Lift 29.5 - 348 FPS
Check out the video for the full results, but I'll give you one hint...the bows did not finish anywhere near this order in my testing. And one bow made a massive jump up the list.

Love Bear ! For the money / customer service you just can’t beat what you get! I think a lot of people don’t even give bear a chance and I think they missing out.

I love my Bear Whitetail Maxx!!!! Also love my Alaskan XT!!!! The cost for both was less than the cost for ONE of the other bows tested in this video.

Many thanks. Well done. Subscribed. Look forward to "Favorite" bow results. I just bought the Bear Alaskan XT. The Whitetail Maxx and the Alaskan XT were the 2 finalists. The draw cycle, soft in hand shooting and the apparent "balance" for me gave the choice to the Alaskan XT. However, the Whitetail Maxx is absolutely an outstanding bow period but for the price point both of these are fantastic.

All of them are all pretty close to each other, so it comes down to whatever feels good in your hand is what you should buy.

Unless I missed something, why did you compare some shorter ata bows from one brand, against longer ata from other brands? Wouldn't it have been a better comparison to use similar length bows?

My Xpedition Xcentric6 and Obsession Delta 8 are outshooting all of these new bows even after 5+ years. Glad a didnt dump a grand into a new one this year.

I know it’s hard to do with all of the work, but with most people shooting 28-29 in, it would be cool to see a 28”, or even a 27” test to include the long and shorter draws. I find at my draw (27.5”), when I put an average 430 grain, all of the bows I’ve tried are with in 5 fps. No matter what the rating is I guess efficiencies aren’t lost equal.

I’ve got videos where i tested the Bowtech SR350 and Elite Omnia at every draw length. Both were pretty much 5 fps per half inch of draw

@@jons7e Historically, Mathews mods run 1/2" long (sometimes a hair longer). The past two years that hasn't been the case for me. they are as close as most other brands now.

Kinda unfair to test the Alpha X 33 vs the Lift 29.5, a more fair comparison would be to compare similar ATA bows since the speeds usually are much higher on a smaller ATA bow. Nonetheless thanks for the video.

I test the bows the manufacturers send me. The Alpha X 33 will do better in the draw cycle video…and probably the final shootout. Speed is just one factor. Hoyt is very well aware of this.

I just shot my new bear 59 40# 390 grain arrow @ 28" it shot 194 dup.then 196 9.75 grains per lb, My 45# grizzly stick with carbon nano limbs same arrow 196-198 8.66 grains per lb, I am in total shock!

without seeing these bows on a draw board with a scale hard to take these numbers as apples to apples plus shooting one with the shorter mods and these chronos are not reading correct for all of the bows. for every test you see with all these bows they have a different speed on every test with all the videos. my buddies lift 29.5 is much faster then these speeds at 70/30 on a garmin. I trust the radar more then these others. who cares just shoot the one you like speed is way over rated we where killing deer with much slower bows 20 and 30 years ago with no issues at all.
