It’s weird knowing this concert is one of their bootleg amateur video that really sums up why they were the best. and that fucking arena they’re playing in is 20 mins away from me and always has been. and it’s where the Toronto Maple Leafs used to play from 1927-1999. I’ve been there for a Leafs game when I was a kid in 93. I could’ve been at that concert if I wasn’t 2 in 1986 😂

I remember seeing an interview about around this time and James said that Steve Harris from Iron Maiden was backstage for one of the sets and that they were so nervous they played Creeping Death "faster than they every did before" or something like that. Creeping Death was tonality inspired by Powerslave, so they could have been nervous about Harris picking up on that...

That explains Lars 😉 But I see James more as a drinker, and all the other guys have said that they where doing cocaine but they have never said anything about James being into that. I think James play like he does because he is James :-) But the other guys where definitly into cocaine. ”Hetfield revealed that he did not use drugs like heroin, but only felt drawn to alcohol. Fellow bandmate Lars Ulrich struggled with cocaine, but as other band members slowed their alcohol consumption over the years, Hetfield could not.” (Rolling stone)

@xestore4 ай бұрын
Back then, downpicking was essentially unknown to metallers. It was more of a punk/hardcore thing (perfected by Johnny Ramone) and thankfully James was sworn to punk. Everything is harder when you're a pioneer, don't judge by the youtube copycat culture. Opening a new road doesn't compare with simply traversing it faster..

And.... It's sloppy, sounds terrible, and lost the whole feel. But def kudos to Lars, because the tempo was very very consistent!!!
