@@nilpo winners break makes for too many one sided matches where the players are much more equally skilled. This also lends to the lesser skilled players winning more than they should. Just my opinion and preference.

@@ericjones745 A lot of these folks at the top of the game are gonna run out more often than not, especially the ones who drill sinking a ball on the first rack. Alternating breaks is the only fair way for the pro players of today to compete in 9 ball. With the current equipment we now have the balls are breaking so well, It's not unrealistically to think these guys could run 9, or even 11, racks under this format, and without their opponent ever leaving their chair. So, what's that all about? It certainly would not be a competition. Fun to watch, maybe; unless, of course, one happens to be that unlucky opponent!

Give him a break, he laughed at himself at the end of the seventh rack before setting them up again. Not a big fan of either of them going by personalities, but that was an amazing display of quick judgement by Shaw for speed, spin and leave for next shots as well as superb safety play. He was on, Mika wasn't. One thing, that jump shot was ill advised when a bank could have easily put him safe and better chance to play on.

Yeah this happens when you don't play smart with the little chances you get. Mika had his chances. When you have sat in you chair a while. Do not pop up fast when you get a tiny chance. Take your time to prepare your self when it is not a match with shot clock like this one. Take your time to look at all the options. Make 100% sure that you know what you are doing and that it will work. In this match Mika jumped out of his chair his mind was not calm at all. He did not slow down his game. He made mistakes. Sure he got difficult positions to play out of. For difficult shots you need to be completely sure what you are doing, be mentally calm and decisive. And double check. If something does not feel right. Just do not shoot till every thing does feel right.

Dane Lobe: Mika had 7 trips to the table, He made 2 mistakes. He missed a 2 ball, and he scratched on a break. He kicked 2 times, got a hit both times, and made 1 jump shot, got a hit and left Jason a shot. Mika also played one safe, then Jason played a safe back. Mike got a hit and left Jason a shot. At 7-0 he had done 2 kicks off of safes by Jason and missed the 2 ball, so he had only been to the table 3 times at 7-0. On one break by Jason he broke dry, and Mika ran the table. Other than that, the only other actual shot he had in the whole match was the 2 ball he missed. Basically he had 2 shots in the whole match, on one shot he missed, on the other he ran the table. Then he lost 9-1. If you dont count his scratch on the break he only made 1 mistake in the whole match, missing that 2 ball. When he actually got an shot, he only missed one time.

That just shows who you are. You should understand how fustrating the game can be when things don't go your way. Seeing how you can't handle someone your watching. You probably would have little to no patience in the fustrating high stakes of the game of pool. Remember these are human beings with high emotions. Just because he is angry at himself or the day. He is in disgust and I'm sure shaw understands that too. It's hard to be composed for days of playing only to lose focus of the game. There's a disconnect. @@jeffmauldin2841 well you clearly never lost as bad as he has. You've never felt the sweeping defeat of yourself when you lose all self respect and love for the game. Because that's where we all get to and some can only hold each other so high in regards of the respect of the game. He obviously had a human moment and I think that speaks volumes to his disgust of that. Not all can bottle in our emotions as well as others. It's obvious you cannot oversimplify a cut and dry topic of human emotions that are at brink of fault of self character. Valid or invalid the simple idea isn't one to opinionate your own views on someone to make them less of you. Of you've done more for the game than surely you can judge him no? I don't think we can even judge his position and mind you this is alot of money and time and dedication I don't think you have any idea the thoughts behind curtains you are just subjective to what you see and know and so I leave it up to you. But mika still shook hands like a gentleman and he made human errors and was in distraught. Too each his own I know shaw understands fully. And took no second to judge Mika. Game recognized game. When you on it you on it.

Mikes performance is so predictable anymore, its a wonder he still has a sponsor that will tolerate his attitude when things dont go his way. Nobody stays on top forever, 9 ball is so competitive these days.

Mika has earned his spot and he has a winning attitude. Just because you see the worst of a person in a game anyone would lose doesn't make it true for every other game. I'm sure anyone wouldn't stand a chance against such luck and good play from shaw. Give shaw his full credit. He's the person to beat right now. And I'm sure shaw will get old with time to so just take your level of hate and try to understand more from others perspective

@@billiardnetwork Hi guys! You guys posting content is one of the things keeping me sane during this pandemic, so I would not argue the point needlessly or be difficult. Are you sure you have this right? This video is TSC XXIII (23), which was in 2015. In 2018, it was TSC XXX (30). In 2018, Shane won and Shaw came in 5/6. Check this link for XXIII results, and a blurb about this 9-1 hot seat match: www.azbilliards.com/shaw-takes-down-turning-stone/ Edit: Additionally, at 19:02, Upstate talks about Shaw moving on to the finals to face John Morra.

To @UCvJPWoojgkOcP6RLGHhTInw, @UCXcqrsKGzm-uIqgP0vFKfdg& Krushard's below comments: You shouldn't be so down saying alternate 9-ball is so unfair. If Mika was playing Jayson in an alternate 9 ball match, with a score of 0 to 8, he NEVER could win. Although we'd keep watching, our watching would be in vain because way before the match was over we already would know he lost. But, in a winner break match which is the way 9 ball has been played forever, he still has a very good chance to win and he's very capable of it. All it would take is to run 7 or 8 racks in a row which, by the way, he's done before. There are a great many examples I could give you three. For instance and this is just one of the matches I’ve seen. Sanjin is playing Josh and is down 4 to 0 and the best he can do is get the score to 4 to 2 because he can't run any racks. It's like watching two pro-bowlers playing alternate frames if that were possible. Neither bowler can even get a double. How boring would that be to watch. A great excitement in watching bowling is seeing 5 or 7 strikes in a row. It's the same for pool to see a string of racks in a row. But with alternate 9-ball, if you get behind 0 to 8, it's almost impossible to catch up. But the main part I don't like is the focus is not on the skills a player has to play the game, but on the lack of skills the player has to make mistakes. This is the only way Sanjin can win. Josh must make mistakes which likely won't happen and neither would they happen with Jayson playing. This is real bad for the game. Finally, where do contributions come from? It isn't the players. In a large part, it's from the fans who want to see an exciting match and I, myself, remember exciting matches for a long time. I have never remembered one single alternate 9-ball match.
