Synthesising the beauty of Science with the reliability of Maths to implement the fastest possible single-core nether tree farm you can fathom which is still able to produce all the bone meal it uses and then some.
This project started in mid-2021 when I was trying to figure out the average amount of wart blocks and shroomlights generated per nether tree and had only just started looking at the generation code for them.
A year later whilst heavily procrastinating study for an English literature exam, I had the thought of working out every possible shape of nether tree that could possibly generate and then taking the weighted average of all of them to find the fabled "average huge fungus".
This method ended up producing a few heatmaps which would soon become invaluable tools for any player interested in designing optimised nether tree farm layouts, including one for the farm featured in this video.

- "Hat Height" refers to the value of the variable in the code and not the actual in-game height, which is 1 block higher
- 9:03: The way Region() works out what region the given block is in, is it runs a few checks such as are the "x and y coordinates equal to the radius" (corner region), is both the "x and y coord not equal to the radius and the layer isn't the top layer" (internal region), or is the "layer one of the first 3 of the hat and the block is not in the internal region" (vines region), and lastly the negation of all the above regions (external region)
- 18:03: This logic system is called a Hysteresis circuit and is compacted in the latest version of this farm (will fork a 1.21 version optimised around autocrafting in the future)
- 18:34: Fungus has a 98.3% chance of growing every 8gt cycle, not 87%
- 22:15: This flashing dust isn't in the final design
- 27:17: I missed one vrm block which is 2 blocks above the first vrm block when you walk into the farm on your right

We the viewers will be waiting for another scientific paper level presentation from you. Hats off.

Years in the making and finally these are the results. That the farm itself was engineered properly could be seen by what you have shown over the past few years but the fact that you managed to present it this nicely and go into the finer details for those less talented than you is really worth a lot. Very well done!

I've played minecraft for year and always wanted self sustaining tree farms. I knew that nether trees were the answer but don't know math or how to design. Many designs I saw were either too slow or need a bone meal farm hooked up to them to make them work. I'm a farm perfectionist, which is why your farm fits perfectly my criteria. This is the first ever video I've seen from your channel, but you earned a sub.

20:35 Flow chart. The more I watch this, the more I'm amazed by the design. I was using comparators facing into droppers triggered by two observers facing each other and it would only drop 8 into each composter at a time. I had 12 composters. I had to use 20 stem growing spots just to keep it going for a few hours because I wasn't getting the extra bomemeal from a roots farm! This is pretty amazing!

You can get a lot more stems and shroomlights (around twice as much) at the cost of less wart blocks, the dualcore farm I made with Krebs does that. Dualcore still runs with one player so imo it's not a different category but I think ncolyer disagrees. This farm is still good tho and would be fine to build in survival+has the advantage of being self sufficient, although that's less of a big deal since moss farms exist

I have no idea how I got here, but holy shit this is incredible. Technical Minecraft is so mesmerizing, even though I never really interface with it! Just one question: How (and why) does the stonecutter stacking mechanism work? That honestly blew my mind the most in this video haha

@@ncolyer Well, mission accomplished, although much of the maths was beyond my level of comprehension, but I did understand the underlying principles. Oh, and I'm definitely going to build it on my server, of course crediting you.

Bit late to this as I have had a break from Minecraft recently but wanted to say your farms are amazing and you never fail to disappoint in pushing the envelope of whats technically possible. Good job.
