As a Mac user and a GoPro newbie I found that iMovie and FinalCut Pro X will both allow you to import video directly into the apps using a cable. I also found that the Photos App allows direct import of both video and stills. I didn't see the comment about using Image Capture until after I had finished.

Thank you, I am just starting videos. Got the gopro10 and I have so many issues with figuring out how to download the video. Used my iphone was not simple too hour to download. What software are you using to edit the videos? I purchased the gopro Quick but it for me not simple and keep having issues with it saving, times out then I have to start all over very annoying.

thanks for the video. I am not sure why you'd need third-party software to transfer the files. Can you not see the GoPro in the Finder? I have a Macbook Pro dock with an SD card reader. When I plug in the GoPro card, I instantly see the content in Finder, very easy and quick transfer, no need for third-party software. Have I missed something? thx

Sean thanks for the video! I jst recently bought a hero 11 as my first GoPro. I video my junk removal jobs and I’m learning on best ways to upload/edit. I bought a 256GB micro sd with a SD adapter for my desktop. I never realized how big these files were. I’m struggle with uploading multiple 10GB files on Quick cloud to store them! Feel like im missing something.

It actually does work with Media Mod, if you use USB-A to USB-C instead of USB-C to USB-C (which is on my Mac Studio a Thunderbolt connection). Most time I use the cable connection. But if there are a lot of large video files on the GoPro I use the memory card because the transfer is much more faster (when using a fast SD card).

This is so helpful thank you so much I spend hours I mean hours transferring files the way you use to. Question though??? Once you transfer the files from the GoPro to your mac are you able to transfer these files from your Mac to the Quick app cloud storage?

Mine doesn't seem to work the original cable could be anywhere i have so many devices with the same fit. Is it a magic cable? I've tried 4 cables with the same outcome all they do is charge the camera. Your input would be appreciated its a 10 black TIA

Thank you - I was just about to purchase a new MacBook M1 and was told the new chip is not compatible with GoPro - that I would need the older Intel Mac. So this is the work around?

The USB cable connection between gopro10 and the gopro quick app on my android phone does not work : the gorpo quick app says : "no new files found", while if I disconnect the usb cable and do the same via wifi, the files transfer works. Is this a know bug with the app or gopro 10 itself (the fact that usb cable transfer does not work)?

Hi, it worked once for me, then I get the error message that it couldn't connect to the device. I've clicked ok, but nothing opens up anywhere now to view my files on the GoPro 10.

PLEASE HELP ... I am stuck. I followed all the steps but they ended at downloading the app, and viewing my files. I succeeded up to that point, but then there were no instructions after that to actually upload my media files to my macbook. I opened the app ... see all my files, but they are not on my macbook ... that step is missing ... unless I'm missing that step. Please advise! This may be because I have only had my gopro for a few weeks and I've jumped right to the "quickest" "best" way to upload to my mac. Maybe you are assuming I know how to than upload, but I do not see an option to do that, and it does not feel intuitive to do so. Please respond, thank you!

Hi, this worked a treat for me when I first watched it but it's stopped working now for some reason. The android file transfer app wont connect to the gopro and it tells me to try restarting or reconnecting, both of which I've tried with no luck. 🤷‍♀

When you connect to mac, open image capture. Now press the 3 points button, for settings here choose what it should open when connected..and at the bottom choose where to upload to..

Ni software needed. You just need to go to your gopro settings/connections and change wireless to off and connection to MTP. Then use your usb-c cable from your gopro to your Mac. Connect to your gopro and find Image Capture software on Mac. Open it, set transfer from gopro, select the files that you want and download to your selected folder. Way easier i think

what software do you use for editing, thee quik app is not available for the mac

it keeps on telling me that I need to put on mtp mode on the GoPro but you cannot even do that on the hero 10. This is really stupid. Can anyone please help me

They came up as LRV I changed it to MP4 and the quality is not great

I have a GoPro 9...the file tranfers work fine as long as you have your cam set to MTF and have the cameras WiFi transfer turned OFF. You just plug your cam into your computer and the Mac reads your camera...no 3rd party software needed.

if it DID work it doesn't work anymore. From my M2 machine I launch the Android File Transfer utility and I get message no Android device found. does connect to my Android phone just fine

Unfortunately I have only 2 thumbs, otherwise I would have given you more. The GoPro standard way of downloading material is a pain in the "A". Of course you can do a certain amount of editing on the iPhone, but that's not comfortable and while you are doing that, the material is uploaded into the GoPro Cloud. Now if you are living in a so-called hightec world this is not an issue. It becomes an issue when your are traveling in a 3-world country and have to rely on a data connection where you are spending a hell of a lot of money - so that your footage is uploaded into the cloud. Every time you want to access footage - you can go and make a cup of tea. I just simply cannot understand why GoPro simply caters for hightec easy access hemispheres. Thank-you for sharing

Tried this but everytime I go to use the app I get the message Could not connect to Device -- How do I fix this so I can use this app on my mac!? I've scoured the internet and found nothing. So frustrated.

I downloaded the android file transfer, opened itthen plugged my gopro in and it has come up with this message "Make sure that your device is unlocked and 'File Transfer' or 'MTP' mode is selected" do you have any idea how to unlock the gopro hero 10? i have looked everywhere but have no idea how to do it.

There is no need for additional software: setup the GoPro as MTP, connect USB Cable, open Image Capture on Mac, transfer

You can just use Image Capture

Is it not easier to just put the SD card into a USB adaptor? That's what I do.

Appreciate the effort but disappointed. There is a lot of talking about not very much useful, and then no visual run through how to actually use the actual free software. I downloaded it as instructed and it simply says 'There is no Android device connected'. I have a GoPro 10 Black. iMac.
