Fasting is serious stuff. The way I see it is, if the 10 Commandments is the “Divine Bill of Rights” then ANYTHING Jesus mandates of us is an irrefutable Divine Amendment. I started fasting about 2 months ago and increased my prayer (and more rosaries, thank you for the inspiration Gabe!). And now my mother and brother are wanting to come back to the church after living decades in a state of mortal sin. My father still needs more work, he is an amazing person but he is deeply fallen into sinful abomination. Fasting and prayer also has made my own flesh temptations easier to overcome. It really works miracles.

I first started fasting from one meal a day. I would skip breakfast most of the time or skip dinner. It’s important that when you break a fast that it’s with a prayer and a planned meal. You don’t want to just go and slam down a burger in the drive thru! Having meatless Fridays is something you can start with. I’ll start a 2 day fast on Monday if I’ve had a weekend of good eating. I fast so that I can beat the lustful demons. I fast for the conversion of my family members and friends. Most of my fasts I offer for others like birthdays, job opportunities, if someone is sick or dying. It has helped me grow closer to God and my faith for sure.

I had a dream last week that I was suddenly in the presence of a demon, i would make the sign of the cross and it would retreat for a moment but then it would come after at me again. The whole dream I was battling it this way until finally I got tired of it and started trying to tell it to leave, it would not. Then suddenly I heard in my mind "This kind does not come out but by prayer and fasting" and I said "Jesus, I don't have time to fast, i'm fighting it right now!" When I woke up I got the message... now is the time for prayer and fasting before you are confronted with something you are not prepared for.

Oh Gabi what a blessing this channel has been for me. I’ve always had a deep love for the blessed Mother to the point at one point I asked myself if it was wrong loving her so much. I have been praying the 4 rosaries a day and started fasting where I don’t eat anything after 2pm until the next morning. I keep hydrated and I feel great! I work at a crisis pregnancy center As an ultrasound tech and today o had the pleasure to scan a young woman who saw no other option but to abort her baby. Even after I told her she was 9 weeks and we could see her baby moving on the screen she asked me how soon she could get the abortion. I keep a rosary in my pocket and as I was doing other measurements I started praying a few Hail Mary. After a little bit I said Dear mother I need your help because I can’t do this by myself. It was like someone took over me and I started l talking and this beautiful soul started seeing her baby for the first time. By the time I we were done this girl had chosen to continue with her pregnancy and save the life of her unborn child. She was transformed in that room just by saying yes to life! I will continue to pray and fast for the unborn, for the babies lost to abortion, for the salvation of souls, for conversion especially that of my husband, for the protection of my children and for those who need prayers.

This is truly a work of mercy. I also started fasting every Friday this lenten season. And have deepen my devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, can't even let the day passed by without saying The 4 mysteries of the Rosary, the Chaplet of the 7 Sorrows of Our Lady, and about to finish my consecration to Jesus through Mary this March 25th. Fasting is hard. That's why it's such a great sacrifice. When I'm sorely tempted during fast, I pray to our Blessed Mother for a grace to persevere in the fast. She will always give you that grace. Thank her for it and continue fasting until the end. Then thank God for your food. Wow! That feels great!

A mustard tree takes time to grow; however, once it is fully grown, it is majestic and one of the largest mammoth trees ever. The growth of the tree will actually “move” a part of a mountain. We must remember, it takes time for our Faith to grow, and after a “time” things will move by our stand of Faith. Where we are planted here on earth will move away evil people and curses away from us.

Regarding translations. I was an atheist teen. At a youth center (secular) I would go to, someone had left a newsprint “living Bible” translation of the gospel of Luke. Because the language was so accessible, I read it. Yes that’s not the best translation technically. But it was one I could read, relate to, and it really struck me. It was one of several things that led to my reversion to the faith.

Last may I invited "2 practicing catholics" to say the whole Rosary together as a gift to our Blessed Mother and I was told it was too much, because even one Hail Mary is enough if it is well said. I felt so sad and sorry for them.These people do not understand how much need there is of prayers in these terrible and dark times we are living. Desire to save souls including your own... it's all about that!

One of my favorite verses and lessons. I started fasting 3 years ago. My husband was going through RCIA, we did a 15th century beer fast,, had a local Catholic brewer make it special for us for lent.. very powerful..Keep up the good work!

This is really interesting because the same thing happened in fact I put a Mass on a few weeks ago and the word fasting was left out of the Gospel. And even on a prayer app I use and I noticed the same. And I used to fast so easily and now I notice a massive resistance but when I get the grace to fast I notice how much clearer my mind gets

The Lord told me to fast and within two weeks I was off insulin (I’m diabetic). I lost 60 lbs. Many would say this was simply a diet but God inspired me to do it and I prayed throughout. Jesus never said it would be easy to follow him. In fact, he said the opposite.

I tried fasting for a week and it was so hard i honestly dont want to do it again. I remember feeling very weak and lightheaded but I felt something very special when I endured it till the end. it's that moment your soul gets really close to God. Tbh Im not looking forward to fasting bc I know how hard it is, but you encouraged me to fast again. thanks for your encouraging videos.

This is fabulously encouraging and highly motivating to people wanting to fast. I'm an intermittent faster and have been watching this video on the eve of my most recent fasts to help galvanise my willpower. Thanks for making it.

Have no fear of fasting, it isn't harmful. Many who are starting to follow the Paleo, or carnivore way of eating find fasting easy, and actually a natural inclination to just not eat. Many of us do an 18 hour fast every day, and a 24 or 36 hour fast once a week. Personal observation: Fasting increases my concentration, and reflexes.

I started fasting for lent 2020 bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays as asked by Our Lady of Medjugorje. Now I do water only and I have recently (last week) added Thursday too (for a special difficult cause). People do make up so many excuses. Thank you for being so honest and real 👍👍👍🙏respect! 40 day juice fast for lent gabbi ! I'm very excited about it. Iv done 100 days so 40 is nothing but still very powerful !

I also believe in power of fasting meshed with prayer. Right now, it is a hit or miss by me choosing specific meals to forgoe and I offer each meal skipped to a special intention. I also picked up saying all 4 mysteries of rosary in last 2 weeks.

Wow, what a story! The temptation is real and you succeeded over that demon trying to hide the word and power of fasting. The translation misses out what I found profound, where the father cried out, “I believe, help my unbelief!”. This to me, is his prayer to Jesus.

I had a dream once about one of my siblings being possessed by a demon. In my dream, when I saw her I got so scared because I knew she was possessed, and she started getting close to me and I felt like I couldn’t move because of fear so I started to mumble a Hail Mary but she(demon) kept getting close to me and the demon wouldn’t leave her so I prayed an Our Father but it wasn’t doing anything, so I didn’t know what to do I felt like I couldn’t help her and I couldn’t believe that these prayer weren’t driving the demon away, so I started screaming, fine you don’t want to leave her, then I’ll fast, and pray many rosaries when I said that he started to leave.. and I continued to name other devotions and prayers I was going to commit to, and that’s how he left. I committed to fasting and pray in my dream and that’s what drove the demon away.

I feel called out by the breakfast taco scene. TACOS...

There’s extraordinary grace available at this point in time where one who’s fasting can enter into Christ Jesus and fast in a way that will surprise us and will be effective in prayers being answered. Be encouraged to step in and pray and fast with Him. Here’s an example: I would normally drink at least a coffee and a tea each day plus one tsp of sugar in each. As my fast commenced I thought that the caffeine and sugar addiction would either cause me symptoms, like a headache or craving, but no such thing occurred. My fasting from everything, but water, went on for weeks and the corporate prayer i was praying and fasting with others was answered. Be prayerful, be holy, be encouraged 🎉

Anybody notice that the USCCB gospel reading for Monday Feb21,2022 left out the last two words of that passage too? It was from Mark 9:14-29. The RSV-CE has it correctly.

I'm temporarily unable to fast because of a health condition. Thpugh, I recently recalled in the Diary of St. Faustina a story where st. Faustina is praying to Jesus saying that she wanted to fast but was not given permission to do so. Jesus told her that while she was eating she could Meditate on His passion and that this would be accepted as a fast. So if for health reasons or faithfulness to religious obedience one is unable to fast, according to Jesus Himself, we still have the opportunity to fast! This is wonderful!
