You gotta love Ronnie and his Road Stories. Ronnie tells about the lamb beating the butcher, the worst stake horse story, talks about handling pressure during gambling, a plane ride and also winning and losing at the race track. I always liked Ronnie, One time I was watching him in Biloxi I think, he had quit and wasn't playing great but he was still Ronnie Allen, he was playing a guy who played ok, but he just wasn't trying mentally and was getting frustrated. I stood up and said , man I been hearing about Ronnie Allen for 30 years , now I see you playing and it's all fantasy, he got red, and was as hot as a sucker can get. He says oh yeah , well watch this know it all. and he put on a clinic. The guy was frozen under the rail every shot , looking at a nightmare. He win's the match and he comes over to me and said , I want to thank you for what you did, he said , if I was 30 years younger I think we could make a lot of money together. I said ,I think so too, but I'm retired from that business, he said , me too.

I met the Janscos in 1977. jan jansco ran a poker game at the golf course across the road from the old pool tourny venue. jan was the Atletic Director at the high school.. I heard a bunch of these stories in 1977 .. sounded the same .. must been true

I've played pool since I was 6 or 7 yrs old at boysclub, I understand the pressure I've seen so many players fold, that had me beat, something swells in there throat and they can't breath...

LOL.. This is the second time I listened to this. Some things are not factual but, It's Ronnie's story to tell. Ted & Cornbread were good friends. A little bit of hustling went on. Ronnie was such a character. Last time I saw Ronnie was in Vegas, he took me and a friend out to luch. He had us laughing so hard. Also saw Richie Florence, Denver Danny & a lot of the old players.

Patcheye Basheer told me he came and played Ted, I didn't think he played well enough to get there, but I don't know what the game was or when , George Rood thought Ted was a great player, that tells me all I need to know.

Ted Elias was a monster unknown player. The part about his wife betting with both hands is what I always heard from everyone.

I knew Ted and his wife Patsy Elias. She is a sweet lady but one tough cookie. She can play a bit of pool too! Great lady!

It is very odd to me when intelligent people are believers.... I'm like HOW...!?!? But like you said, they are taught young by those they love and trust...
