Fasting also helped my back pain. Read somewhere intermittent fasting is really good cause that 12hr window of not eating or reducing calorie intake but increasing nutrient intake gives the body time to rebuild and recover. Muscles are easy to heal due to blood vessels. Joints and tendons do not have that so they take longer to heal and are more prone to chronic pain and inflammation. So rather than breaking down calories the body can focus on rebuilding. Also strengthening and stretching the muscles near the affected area help a little. But one week of intermittent fasting is what cured my years of a dull lingering back pain.

Been on 3 days a week , full body / heavy compounds only for the last 3 months and working out for only an hour max during sessions and I have noticed far far more gains than I was training on some bro split / 6 day ppl. Having to only train 3 days a week for me instills looking forward to the gym as I know for a fact that I will perform better than my previous session from enough rest and recovery.
@jaylhant

Ehh that 6 days a week is more for people trying to optimize their training as much as possible while being more competitive. Depends what you're trying to do, but rest and recovery are very crucial and getting a proper workout and doing more the next time is also important.

My body is just like yours when you started, this is invaluable information. Most KZfaq videos are for people to get super muscular which is great but I just want the slim/lean look. Great job! Realistically, if you aren't competing or playing a sport that requires you to lose fat, 6 months is a healthy period of time to lose fat without losing any muscle.

"less is more", such a simple yet powerful principle. I used to be obese and tried many intense workout programs but kept failing, getting burned out, injured, or both. Later I implemented small habits that were truly so small, but worked over the long run. Anyway I really am a big fan of the content you're making, keep it up!! 😊

Funny I've gone through the same spiritual realization on fitness as you. Was always skinny fat. As we get older our bodies can't keep up with our habits. I would say at 20 is when our habits set in and our bodies really begin to decline. Working out less but heavy and intermittent fasting were a godsend. Got my best physique now in my 30s than when I was in my 20s. But then again I didn't have access to KZfaq or any coaches so my gym knowledge was only must lift heavy to show off and not get ridiculed. Now it's all about functional strength, bone, joint, and cardiovascular health, and of course aesthetics.

Dude wtf, this is the exact same story of my timeline of working out. From burning myself out to less is more, then from somehow still ego lifting since you want to get stronger every session, to not really putting myself in a position to be injured. As naturals, we can't get stronger every session and that's the thing that I had to accept. Regardless, if you still up the intensity every session, it doesn't matter if you didn't get stronger, you'll still grow. Followed the atg guy and some and to this day, I'm at my best in terms of physique plus flexibility and athleticism wise. Good job man.

Everything you said and explained was easy to understand and very helpful 🙏 My husband and I are not fat, but not skinny. We've both been athletic through out our lives, but now we are both a little chubby. I've never been a fan of Gym Bros not that there's anything wrong with them it's just not my preferred body type. I like lean bodies. Your body is beautiful and looks healthy my husband's also Asian so he has a similar body type he likes bulky looking guys while I would prefer to see him lean like he used to be when we were teens. I love your advice I'll show it to him and hopefully he'll take it 👍I want to try being more consistent too because my favorite body type for woman is lean as well but I'm more on the curvy side so I have to work harder to look the way that I want.

@Trap part Thank you it can be. For me personally I prefer a more lean look. I'm curvy and I always have been even at my smallest 116 pounds. When I started lifting/playing sports in my early teens I began to gain muscle weight so I don't think I'll ever get back down to 116 pounds. At the current moment I just want my legs to be stronger and smaller. My goal is to lower my body fat percentage overall. I like how I look at about 20% body fat and I'm at 26% and it makes a huge difference. I'm usually at my healthiest at around 20% body fat I feel so much better physically in my smaller frame.

Excellent video, brother. I have a similar journey, as I was in good shape but just not ripped for the past 20 years. However now I am 36 and the most ripped I’ve ever been. I’m 5’9”, 150 lb and around 10% body fat. You are 💯% right that consistency and intermittent fasting are the 2 biggest things that have worked for me also. If I do something like run a 5k, I am burned out for 2-3 days. However, a 20-minute incline walk daily on a treadmill along with the IF and lifting heavy is the key for me as well. I think every person that’s looking to get ripped has to at some point decide “What do I want more? This instant gratification via food or alcohol, or do I want the body I’ve always wanted?” Shout out to you for this awesome video.

Less is definitely more. I just power walk and with some SIT cycles. Mind you, only 60 - 75 metres sprints for 3 cycles sometimes 4. Each session wasn't more than 30 mins including simple warm ups of around 5-7 mins, done at my block's skygarden area. Then recovery days, rinse and repeat. Good diet, i cut out all sugar and most simple carbs, many days i am on stuff like Soba buckwheat noodles. And yes, consistency. I am disciplined fella, so yeah consistency for me is quite achievable + sustainable. Result just in 1 year......holy. Coz of the weight (fat) loss, the muscles just popped and i got a slim/fit look, i'm nowhere near big or your physique coz i don't lift, maybe i shall incorporate that in soon.

Thanks for the great videos. You're an inspiration to me and I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm 5' 8" and 185lbs and you explaining how you couldn't get the body you wanted is exactly like me now. I'm getting started on the IF and watching my calories in and hitting the gym. Just curious, how tall are you? You look great!

People don’t realize how truly easy it is to lose weight. If you exercise very minimally every day for 30 minutes and only ate very light healthy foods, you’d drop weight in buckets.

I agree @R Belson .....it seems like the "before" to "after" should be able to be achieved with a even a modicum of discipline....I find that many "influencers" that are popular in this space just went from skinny to ripped skinny....not many were truly obese and went to ripped

Intermittent fasting is NOT the most efficient way to stay lean while building muscle. It all comes down to how many calories you burn and how many you eat. Theres NOTHING better than a balanced healthy diet! And if you wanna have a cheat meal or cheat day, just fit it in your diet to match your daily caloric needs. smh
@TruthShaIIWin

It kind of is in a way, with only a calorie deficit you'd feel hungry all the time, if you combine it with intermittent fasting and set for yourself a specific time to eat instead of random times you could've eaten throughout the day, it will def satisfy your hunger better and it can help you a lot

Intermittent fasting allows your body to enter ketosis state; it allows your body to burn stored fat instead of glucose for energy. So i think it’s still a good habit to incorporate when you’re dieting.

I think intermittent fasting is more of an advanced or expert approach to nutrition. The true foundational cornerstone is just clean, healthy eating of natural foods. If you want to go beyond that and fast and explore how it may benefit you, go for it, but lots of fruits, veggies, quality protein, and non processed foods as a start
