The truck driver obviously was driving too fast. Flat tires can happen on the road, no matter how careful you are.

At least Charley didn't maliciously make the bus break down plus even trying to save the bus and it's passengers when he spotted the truck from Duel (1971)

My kid came off the bus one day with front teeth busted out. His face hit the bar on the top of the seat in front of him when the driver stomped on the brakes. The buses didn't have seat belts and probably still don't.

A bus accident in Texas is why there's breakaway windows on the side of buses.

Wasn’t that the incident where a bus fell into a body of water resulting in over 2 dozen deaths?

@jfournerat1274 it was. It was in Harlingen, Texas. A truck delivering Dr Pepper had forced the bus into a tank and some had drowned because they couldn't get out of the bus to safety. That was when newer buses were equipped with side breakaway windows.

@@74Spirit1 while I didn’t remember the name of the town where the crash happened I did know that the bus had collided with a truck that was carrying Dr Pepper. Thanks for reminding me about the incident.

So, this movie is blaming Charlie Schilling for being nagged into driving a defective school bus. I'm all for buses working properly, and bus drives being careful with kids, but something just doesn't seem right about this.
