Before anyone else flips their bike, the best advice I can give is don't clutch the bike up the whole way like in this video. Only use the clutch to pop the wheel the first foot, then use throttle to bring it up the rest of the way under control. Too many learners clutch it up the whole way and get it wrong one time and flip the bike. Learn to use the brake to control the height as well, it's a good habit because it'll save your ass if you go too far.

Trust me, your brain really goes blank when at balance point, which this guy isn't even close to being at. You won't be use to it and freeze, forget what to do, because it freaks you out. It's like you gotta fall a few times to really get it. Which is why you should start on a small bike, like a Grom or 110.

@@satj8539 I know its a late response, but no, you don't need the clutch on an MT07 to wheelie. 1st will come up at 15-20mph with a twist of the wrist. 2nd will come up at 35-40 with a pull on the bars and a twist. Clutch is supposed to be better, but when I try, it shoots up too fast.

I usually clutch up 2nd and 3rd and stay away from 1st for right now. If you are into parking lot stunting then 1st is for you, otherwise just wait until 2nd. The biggest thing you have to overcome with wheelies is fear. My first attempt at clutching up in second brought it right up a few feet. but at least that broke some of the fear.

Inspired to start practicing! Thanks! Two comments -practicing with the clutch seems a good dilligent method to get to know the fz better, rather than just skipping straight to throttling up. You learn more control this way. - I wish I had paid more attention when you pointed out the sweet spot in the saddle, in the groove before the back seat. I forgot where I was sitting and got a quick reminder of my boys. Had to take a 10 count!😵

3rd gear at 45~48 is doable but you basically have to red line it and give it a little jerk. It doesn’t come up as fast as it does in first or second but if you ride it out it will come up. My bike has an r6 throttle tube and full yoshi exhaust not sure how much difference in power that makes from stock. Also don’t cut the throttle when you drop the clutch keep rolling on the throttle.

This, I hate to say it but it's "safe" in second. Third is safe but I got up to a speed where I got speed wobbles and wiped out. It was my fault but it got sketchy once I was going like 60. The bike is super wiggly at higher speed IMO. I personally wouldn't do thirds again unless I was hitting balance point and had a steering dampener. I'm too scared to do it again but can hit seconds all day.

to everyone saying there is no need for a clutch up you are prolly chasing wheelies like this dude. i have a few videos showing what power up wheelies do and unless you grab a ton of rear brake after a power up you end up chasing the wheelie. clutch the bike up a few times and get used to the fast upward motion. once you get that feel start finding the balance point. i have an fz and it is very straight up. hover the rear brake and go slow. dropping it at 15 mph is better than 35 trust me. you wanna clutch bike for stunting bc ur going to work the motor less and pick the front end up faster while using less of ur rpm range. i can clutch the bike up at 5mph and wheelie at a soild 10mph managing the brake before the bike gets past 6k. power ups in first, by the time ur bar enough back the bike is at 30mph and slowing urself down is 20x harder. get a cage and drop the bike a few times. they are cheao parts just go for it lol

People need to understand the clutch adjustment is not the same as suspension adjustments (made to taste) Its like chain tension. Youre essentially setting how much it separates the plates and you can make it slip or drag with the wrong adjustments. A dragging clutch will make gear changes feel really harsh. There is a set range and anything outside of that will be bad for the disks. If you can make your adjustments and stay within the 10-15mm freeplay range then more power to you

I've been having trouble clutching up. I've gotten to the point where I literally drop the clutch at 6k rpm in second gear and the front doesn't come up an inch (going ~35 mph). Also, full throttle in first gear from a dig barely raises the wheel off the ground. To the point where I never need to modulate throttle when taking off, just lean forward a bit and there's no way the bike will wheelie in first. I module throttle while letting the clutch out, then I'm just pinned the entire way from 4k-redline in first with no lift. I'm 6'4'' about 180lbs in gear. Any tips? I'm about 75% stiff on the rear spring, maybe I should try going to 100%... I haven't had issues with a few dirt bikes over the past few years.

I have an m4 slip on with no tune and my bike will easily do a double backflip in first gear if I give it too much and I weigh the same as you. Try scooting your butt as far back as you can. Also you can try abruptly cutting the throttle so the front forks compress and then quickly get back on throttle and it should come up but I never have to do that in first. Also in second just give it more RPMs almost to redline if you must but I'm still learning clutch ups in second so I'm not sure.

@@ToxicF4TE Thanks for the tips. I can power up in first if I sit back and really try, but it's not very useful since I just run out of RPMs. I just had the impression that this bike wants to loop without clutching up, and that hasn't been my experience. I'll keep raising the RPM in 2nd little by little and see how that goes. Thanks again!

Never bother clutching mine, it'll power wheelie in second and third. Probably because that's how I do it on the dirt bikes.

You're a little bit safer learning to clutch up with one finger not two. other than that great video man:)

13:10 looks like you got good understanding of clutching. Looks like your cutting the throttle too early before its high enough. I would try to stay constant and catch the height with your rear brake. Try to train your self that if you point your toe down(hitting the brake) your bike will go lower and if you raise your toe it will go higher. I modulate the wheelies with the brake.

Mike V thanks for the help. Yea I’ve notice that too. I keep cutting early trying to break that habit but it’s so hard lol. Thanks again with the break going to have to try that.

I’m by no means an expert btw. One day it’s going to click. You’ll just get that one wheelie you ride out and your foot will be doing work you never though it was doing. Took me about a month of non stop wheelies.

Mike V so let’s say I’m in a wheelie instead of chopping the throttle I brake but keep accelerating right? like braking while accelerating ?
@Metalbladelawncare
@Metalbladelawncare 5 жыл бұрын
JR 92 maintain consistent throttle and drag the rear brake. You don’t have to do this but it helps remind you the brake is there.

I heard that clutch wheelies are bad for the clutch .... Is it true?

Wurst Fighter I’m not a bike guy, I’m a car guy. Wet clutches in bikes are designed to handle a lot of “riding the clutch”. So from what I can tell, it’ll wear your clutch out faster than normal riding, but dropping a clutch in a car will wear the clutch out a lot faster. I think for the most part it’ll be fine for a decently long time.
