One of the Masterpiece of entire anime history. Fun Fact: Voice Actress of Saber, couldn’t stay in the studio after filming that scene where Shirou finished off Saber. It must be a tough and hard moment for her to face that scene.

It’s such a strong moment, and it’s even worse in the VN iirc. Like from Shirou’s perspective, he straight up has to kill all memory of Saber in his mind, because it broke him that badly to kill her. I think he also lost his memory of Kiritsugu’s last night? Shit was harsh.

For anyone wondering, Yes, Shirous body was destroyed, and was irreparable due to overuse of Archers arm (it had literally changed into a bunch of swords). He was losing consciousness towards the of the fights, as seen when he had trouble talking (literally could think properly anymore) . Illya sacrificed herself to use the grail (her body);and activate the 3rd True Magic (materialization of the soul), thus allowing Shirous Soul to continue "living" without a body. They found a mage who makes Human like puppets (aoko or toko I forgot name) and thus re-created Shirous body and inserted his soul into it. Not a perfect happy ending but the only happy ending in the original Fate/Stay Night (Sabers true ending was added in Remake)

Nah the vn is no holy grial Lissen guys i lke the vn too...kindda but lets be honest is at times a mess, full of overexplaining..info dumps ...and pointless dialogues &, monologues. I get it the anime isnt perfect but come onnnn ...nasu takes 5000 words just to say: good morning how are you....thats not good writting nor storytelling😂 Lets be happy with what we got Cuz no one wants to read the vn...and i wouldnt recomend it eather

Pegasus by nature are pacific creatures that will not fight, ever. Bellerophone, the reigns, allow Medusa to command the creature to attack. All Pegasus in Myth are born from the one that was born from Medusa's decapitated body, so this is the prime Pegasus of myth, which also increases it's rank and power. Bellerophone cannot be summoned by itself, as it needs a rider to be able to be used as a weapon. Perseus can also summon it as part of his multiple noble phantasm (in fact, 2 of Medusa's weapons in the different variants that we have seen of her are in fact Perseus' weapons more than hers. The only 2 Noble phantasms used by Medusa in myth were the Blood fort Andromeda and her Gorgon form, Pandemonium Cetus.)

you know now that I think of it.... the idea of "I wish I could have killed her with my own hands". I mean him being a holy man it kinda makes sense. Yes murder is a sin but suicide in the holy sense would be a greater sin so he would have saved her of such a sin had he just killed her himself.

They go into it more in the VN but Shirou’s memory increasingly deteriorates when he uses the arm to the point he forgets conversations he just had, who people are including himself and general awareness of where he is. Shirou’s brain is being fried not just due to the projection’s strain but because his body simple can’t handle something as powerful as part of a servant. His brain is slowly becoming made/stabbed by the swords meant to protect his body akin to someone being shot in the head by a gun. That’s why there’s the whole phrase of “trigger off” when Shirou does archer’s incantation. Shirou basically thinks of his ability as cocking a gun to his head each time. Though, in reality it more so behaves as a timed bomb that explodes part of his brain when activated.

I wish they also went into more detail on how fucked shirous brain was getting by the end point, we get glimpses of it but nowhere near as painful or descriptive as the VN.

Like I don’t think it’s that long in the VN, maybe a couple minutes, but if you’ve got the image of Shirou about to stab Saber, and hold it while he talks to himself about how much he hates himself for what he’s about to do and stuff, it just doesn’t flow well imo. Sucks, but it is what it is.

It’s funny, every single character in the series is like Kotomine says, all of them harbor both good and bad, even Zouken and Shinji, both are scum but with Shinji he became the way he was from a sadistic family that doesn’t even see he exists and when Sakura comes in and becomes what he wished to be even with the horrors that entails became jealous of her, and constantly took that jealousy out on her in every way possible in order to feel above her because she can achieve something while he can’t. Zouken wished to reach a utopia beyond all evil and knew humanity couldn’t achieve it, so in his desires which couldn’t be achieved in his life time he became a dead apostle that desired only eternal life while forgetting what he wanted that life for, like kotomine said, good and evil. (I want to make sure people know this isn’t condoning them. They are both examples of the worst of humanity, but I think especially for fate it’s important to know and understand the origins of all the characters)

I feel like it would have been more meaningful if he hadn't returned that way. Yes it would suck but it would drive home the lesson that actions have consequences. Now, if Sakura had summoned an altered version of him years later, that would have been easy to grasp.

@@samoanjoseph1457 I am pretty sure not everyone understood it but...actually there were concecuences, the most notable one being that he is not human anymore, and other like his imperfect puppet body, and the thing with magical circuits. Desgracefully they failed to convey those last 2 in the movie.

My best guess is that they haven’t watched Kara no Kyoukai. I was in the same boat as most of them. I watched all of Stay Night and was confused by this movie, but when I started Kara no Kyoukai, it made sense.

It's not Shirou's original body, for sure. His soul got saved by Illya and that's what's in the birdcage Sakura was holding. The puppet body is a perfect copy, but that's genuine Shirou still alive

@@oozarusama actually it's real Shirou with Homonculus body, if u remember Shirou last wish is want to stay alive (when he talk with Illya) So Illya Granted what Shirou wanted, Shirou soul not taken away, and that soul tranfered into Homonculus body (puppet body) This movie takes the true ending route Shirou really died in Normal ending route (in this ending, Illya doesn't come to help Shirou, so Shirou using Excalibur with his trace on, he sacrificed himself to destroy the holy grail, and died but he soul is disappear)
