Pine was joking that we sometimes think that if we aren’t perfect now, God is looking down on us with blazing eyes and fire in His hand, whereas in reality, God knows that He has given us our whole lives to respond to His grace and that only the grace of the present moment is available to us. In other words, we are told to strive for perfection and to desire to be like God in His virtues and goodness, but God knows us better than we know ourselves and He sees our efforts and our hearts. (Not to say that we don’t have to try). Anyways Fr. Pine says it better, so you should listen to the interview!

I was an atheist who had a spiritual conversion to Christ and then had to be Catholic, nothing else interested me and didn’t even cross my radar. I was 19 and am now married 27 years to a wonderful Catholic man. I am currently in the Novitiate to be a professed Lay Dominican (part of Father Pine’s order but as a regular person who is married, is a parent, works etc). St Catherine of Siena was a Lay Dominican.

Simple commentary here, Pam. I honestly think we Catholics sometimes fail to transmit not only the importance of the Holy Rosary (mostly for the spiritual battles we - human beings - will face into the reality of this world, the same world God made His entrance into, through the Mystery of Incarnation, by means of the Most Blessed Virgin) but especially what it means theologically deep down. Many people don’t fully understand that the Rosary is really about Jesus Christ's IDENTITY and the emphasis in pointing to the humanity assumed by an all-powerful God, only “narrated” by the angle of His humanity, so not properly (and primarily) about Mariology. Just as Fr Pine said the Psalms were read in five sequences being interpolated with one passage of the Gospel by the monks, as means to say they are a “preparatory” reality that points to Christ, who expresses Himself ‘par excellence’ in the Gospel narratives, the same interplay happens to be made in the five/ten “Hail Mary(s)” with one “Our Father”. That’s all about the prayer’s embodied rhythm communicating something; yet just as nobody would say the (five) Psalms are made more important than the (one) Gospel sole reading by the mere recourse of arithmetic, the same pattern needs to be applied in the very spiritual dynamics of the Rosary, I’d point out. That emphasis on the humanity of Christ, which is very clear in the Catholic “ethos”, explains why it is so efficacious in exorcisms and general spiritual warfare due to the redemptive and salvific actions of Our Lord. Even us Catholics, despite its intuitiveness (for us, I guess), maybe fail to fully recognize the theology underneath as the key background of the very prayer (of the Rosary) and the mysteries meditated within. If a religious guru would ever address strange questions to his followers, it's almost unthinkable to imagine the core one would be about his personal identity, not about the persuasiveness of his teachings or the greatness of his deeds. That's the issue Peter got to answer correctly, guided by the Father, in Cesarea-Philippi: Our Lord Jesus Christ both as the Messiah/Christ/anointed one AND as the very Son of God (Mt 16, 16). Clear conscientious formulations of the Most Holy Trinity among the Apostolic collegiate is always a theme but John later expressed it fairly better, knowing that the Word of God, who was with God and was God from eternity, became flesh and made His dwelling among us (John 1, 1.14) in this world. And He used THAT womb as the tabernacle for His presence among us. That's exactly what we pray in the "Angelus", by the way. If we don't connect the dots, maybe our Protestant brothers will be unnecessarily guarded against the Rosary. They generally miss it. Everyone of us may have those intellectual temptations due to our modern and post-modern epistemology and the breakdown of metaphysics and ontology, but I assume they are especially strong among non-sacramental Evangelicals (even though for sure they do not fall in the categories), therefore the special need for this, I think, against the almost Nestorian and Gnostic (spiritualistic and anti-materialistic) type of inclinations some of us may face in trying to deal with the scandalous claims of our faith. Just look how Muslims and Jews see us Christians! The Rosary points again, and again, and again to the Mystery of Incarnation and to Jesus Christ’s very own IDENTITY. In one way or another it is undoubtedly one of the most powerful weapons we can use in our spiritual life, as St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina said of it. Don’t let yourself on the fence about the Rosary and the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. But that being said, C S Lewis was an example of someone outside the Church, that learned a lot about God and helped converting a lot of people

It's not just you, I was baptised and confirmed in the Church but never took it seriously, some 5 years ago I was really confused about the world and I stumbled upon Chesterton, his book "Orthodoxy" really was like a breath of fresh air, it was so clear and so beautiful, after that I started digging more. I feel that clarity and cohesiveness coming from many catholic thinkers and apologists, and I can't say I saw it anywhere else, although admittedly it's not like I read every book under the sun.

Where can you find this anywhere in the bible..? Where did Jesus Christ or GOD' says to say this prayers?? All the questions that plague this Churches traditions are no where seen permitted in the Bible. I pray people read for themselves and compare it to the bible....not their biblical teachings but the Bible and you will see all the contradictory.

I dont think the Medjugorje ap. are legit. I saw documentary shots of the alleged seers during apparition and one of the onlookers moved his hand toward the head of one of the seers and she moved her head. The legit seers, like Bernadette and the Fatima kids were pushed or even pinched while seeing Our Lady and they didnt even blink. She told the documentarist afterwards that it appeared to her as if the baby Jesus was falling from Marys arms, but this sounds like a cheap lie. I dont know the truth and I dont force my opinion on anybody and I would appreciate the "believers" to do the same. And yes, I was there and had mixed experiences with the pilgrims.

I stand with Thursday! And had all the same questions. Finally someone asked! Mejurogie is treated and promoted by many as approved Holy site even though it isn't - that is concerning. I believe the fruits coming out of it has nothing to do with possible appariations there (maybe wrong) but more to do with God "works for good of those who love him" and "where two or more are gathered" because the people going are seeking God. I am particularly disturbed by the story that the seers are enriching themselves financially off the visions (unheard off from other approved apparitions).
