Logan Wendt BucketPlz National socialism and all of its “brothers” -fascism (AKA trump and the us gov., (Nazism), nationalism, socialism and communism are terrible, they have caused 100 millions of deaths and they prevent the advancement of humanity.It’s time to end government collectivism and push for freedom of the individual. Let society free of these collectivist shackles and let liberal voluntarism shine. Please. The United States is economically and societally fascist. @@goodbye41 I think the song was written way earlier when he was living in new orleans, not sure when but I guess it was either things slipping through subconsciously, or he was somewhat teasing what was next to come the prescience of the republican nomination being what inspired this rant is haunting - knowing that the democrats were in such poor form PR-wise even in 2016, and that as soon as someone like Trump was nominated on the other side of the aisle--knowing that it would be game over.

Well said...This was my exact thought when I just watched it...XPN is one of my favorite things in life but the way they reported it was as if he was blown out on a hallucinogenic and was commenting on his observations so I didn't even give it a go...but then again...maybe it was their brilliant way to actually get people to watch it!...ha Either way, in my opinion, what he had to say was wonderful

The ironic thing is that he's critiquing 90% of the liberal hipsters in that crowd. As a culture we've lost our way. We don't listen to music on the basis of being metaphysically challenged or out of the awe of excellence of the craft. We listen to it because others tell us this is what we ought to listen to. We listen to it because despite uncritical reflection, it evokes a "positive vibe". As a matter of fact, entertainment infiltrating all musical genres and tracks has the same origin as entertainment infiltrating politics. You can't praise the phenomenon in music and condemn it in politics.
@Smigsmacker
@Smigsmacker 6 жыл бұрын
Music is entertainment, it is catharsis. I think FJM is thinking exactly what you're saying here actually. Of course, he is not criticizing himself. He, like the band Weezer, saw an opportunity to become successful based on popular trends, and instead of selfishly chasing his own dream, adapted to popular trends. If we truly lived in an oppressive theocracy, FJM would be a radical Christian thought leader by our modern standards. The guy lives to entertain, that is his path in life, but his hobby is clearly observing and reflecting on current events. I don't think his fans know what they're cheering for.

I didn’t feel like the rant was specifically about how we consume music. I felt like he was talking about how the oppressive overstimulation within our society has led to a deep dependence on instant gratification. So much so that we elected a president that treats his speeches like a fucking stand up routine. Trump used his belligerent charisma to resonate with the American public and it sadly worked.

As an entertainer and a public figure, an artist, Mr. Tillman has as much a right as anyone to rant and express his outlook on life while he's on the stage, inserting humor and emotion along the way. That's what people showed up for, that's what music is. Just because he's there to play his music, he is not excluded from having an opinion and expressing it to his audience.. and if any one hasn't noticed, even if he is being a little cliche, he's fucking right. We are in a giant bucket of hickory smoked shit, and people with any kind of public presence should fucking talk about it. So stop complaing and go get yer Justin bieber tickets and enjoy some more of that mindless garbage intended to keep all the little sheep in a row. It's too bad you couldn't wake up and see that FJM was just trying to be informative, he cares about y'all, wants you to take notice that our pollytics are a little absurd right now. Good day, And FJM, please try to play a show in Portland or Seattle soon, it would be quite swell.

This was a breath of fresh air and should happen more often. I love that he spoke his mind on stage and didn’t give a fuck what people that heard him thought about it because fuck it. He’s American, he lives in this country so he has the right to speak his mind about it and I’m glad he did. Hope he does this more often. I read comments that he’s “pretentious” that he’s a “hipster douche” that he’s a “satanist”. So fucking what people. I don’t agree that he’s any of these things except maybe a satanist, Idk....but so fucking what if he is?! If that bothers you then you have bigger problems because being a satanist probably isn’t what you think it. I’m atheist and I support satanist. I’m for freedom of and from religion so what ever floats your boat. As long as you’re not hurting anybody ( but yourself) with the religion you believe in, who gives a fuck?! He’s good people, smart and has something important to say and says it in a very eloquent way and I agree with what he has to say so more power to him. People in this country are blind and easily distracted with what they consider “entertainment” while the world is being pull out from underneath us by the crooks that run our government and we’re to blind and distracted to care to question it. People need to get way more pissed off about it or it’s just going to get worse. The people need to take this country back.

Let society free of these collectivist shackles and let liberal voluntarism shine. Please. The United States is economically and societally fascist. We want voluntarism not these deadly collectivist “isms”.

I fucking love you, but I fucking hate what's happening right now, as well as all the shit that was happening when this was recorded. Thanks for much needed rant..... Now, just trying to be hopeful.....Hugs and kisses❤️

I love his music but I dont see the difference in what he's saying here, and the way he's saying it, compared to the hippy movement of the 60's. Were most of those people sold out and are now living like maharajas in Bel Air. And the 'evil' is he talking, the condescendment that the majority of the population are just ignorant dolts who voted for someone who's 'entertaining'. His narrative is out of date, but hey so is most of the left's views and 'convictions'. Sorry just my two cents...

What makes me angry is the audience. They don't even understand that he is talking about the idiodracy of the world and how stupid people are and they are too stupid too even acknowledge that he is talking about people like them.

I was in the crowd. The people that never saw him perform were pretty shocked but the people that know his work were responding positively. I went there just for his set and I could not have been happier with his performance, and I sympathized with his ability to feel what was happening in society and find the bravery to express an improvised reaction to what was becoming our reality (the nomination of Trump as presidential candidate the previous night). He wasn't making fun of the crowd, he was critiquing the culture, everyone, himself included. The cheers are from people refreshed to hear something so real, and the silence was from the people who weren't ready to hear it. The tension was thick. There is a time for art and a time for entertainment. We will never riot and revolt, if we are too busy partying. He had a lot of people scratchin their heads. Liberals don't like being inconvenienced with fighting against the rise of american fascism.

would have liked a shot of whatever "battleship" he was referring to... if my entertainment is essentially anti-facist then it helps me refine, transcend, and actually focus. that said...guys a little too sexy!

he's freaked out by the election and expressing a real moment of clarity in which he realizes that a crowd of drunk n high people want to be entertained during a moment in history that is beyond surreal...like many rants, it's loosely structured...also, he's likely tripping balls

Don´t call this dude a hipster, he is way too smart for that. I read somewhere that his father was a Engineer at Hewlet-Packard, so he probably has above average intelligence genes running in his family.
