A reminder for anyone with a "Why remake this?"....the Steve Martin one was also a remake. It is a very relatable story -- letting our kids go -- and I love how this one has some new spins on it. Look forward to it.

I disagree. The Martin remake was updating an old school B&W Hollywood era film . This could be a great movie, but better spun as an original, in the spirit of.....

I think more than anything it's the same concept with different characters. I feel like looking at Andy Garcia's character and then looking at Steve Martin's character there's a huge difference between both characters. So I feel like I don't really view this so much as a remake just a different version/retelling

Our survey says . . . nah uh! When something is as close to the perfect version of that film, remake or not, it’s best not to mess with it. This is clearly gonna flop cause it just can’t compete with the love the other ones generates in the hearts of the audience. What a waste of money that could be spend developing originality somewhere else in the industry.

Wasn’t expecting to like this, but it actually looks really good. Not a total remake of the Steve Martin one (which is also a remake btw)-but a totally new storyline.

It reminds me of movies “the birdcage” and “guess who’s coming to dinner”. Happy it’s not a remake of the original remake of “father of the bride”. Looks good. Happy to see Gloria E. acting as the mom.

Hate this movie already and will not watch it because of the lunacy. How about highlight the good in Cuban culture like family and non divorce and old traditions. This is movie is injecting hollywood liberal BS in it. The producers and writers should be fired and not work anymore.

So according to this trailer, Isabela Merced has a minor supporting role as the sister of the bride, she doesn't have a line in the trailer, but her name is first in the title of the trailer, in front of Andy Garcia, one of the lead roles? And Isabela is the one in the thumbnail? O....K?

for anybody interested in this one, I would also highly recommend watching the original!! Not the Steve Martin one, but the 1950 version starring Spencer Tracey and Elizabeth Taylor--still holds up well 72 years later :)

father of the bride with steve martin is a classic and one of my all time fave movies. that being said, i wasn't sure how to feel about this when i went to watch the trailer, but it really doesn't look bad. i feel like the premise of the movie is the same.. hence "traditional parents" and that "father/daughter connection" but with a more modernized vibe. i feel like when watching this movie, to enjoy it, you have to go in with a clear mindset that you're watching something totally new and not a remake of an older movie.

Yeah, I see where you are going with it. However, I don't like how woke this movie is. It is taking a cuban family and saying here is all of the woke liberal Hollywood crap like divorce, feminism, etc. and injecting it into a cuban culture. The producers and writers should be fired for this poor execution. I would be offended if I am Cuban, just saying. I am excited for this remake and for its efforts, if successful, to portray additional cultural aspects than a cos white family unit. I would love to see a version of this movie reflecting a familial blending like Pryanka Chopra-Jonas and Nick Jonas’ wedding weekend. When information about their wedding weekend came out, I found myself fascinated by Ms, Cholera’s religious and cultural celebrations. I would love to see the beautiful Indian traditions and rituals accurately portrayed in film and their real-life story would make for an amazing movie while educating the American public about another culture.

I am a huge fan of the Steve Martin version so at first I wasn’t sure if I was gonna be looking forward to this but I have to say it looks fabulous! I love the twists in the story and I’m very excited to see it!

I absolutely loved the remake with Steve Martin as a kid and I'm not gonna lie when I first saw this was coming out I was like "why?" But I feel like this is a kinda fresh retake on the movie and it's giving off a 90's movie vibe, which I miss, so I'll give it a chance.

As a remake they have a great opportunity to reboot. An injection of Cuban culture is just what I'm wanting to see. Folks have been snuggling up too cozily to the seven deadly sins for my taste.

I like how it seems like the movie isn't going to go the usual "disapproving parent tries to break up the marriage" route. The dad is clearly off-put by the guy his daughter is marrying, but the trailer doesn't seem to indicate that he'll be actively hostile towards him...

This was something I was never expecting. Yet for some reason I'm slightly intrigued. It has some similar aspects to the original Steve Martin one, but also has its unique differences...the fact that the parents are in the process of getting a divorce while their daughter is getting married was something I did not see coming...but could be funny if done right. ill be looking forward to seeing this film.

This looks good but hard to tell from a trailer. Glad its not an exact remake of the 2 previous versions I have seen which were themselves pretty similar. Gloria Estefan looks so good still.

Just what we needed - another remake of an old movie. Because it's not like anyone can come up with new stories anymore. Whether it's any good or not isn't the issue, just that some people no longer seem to have any imagination.

Sorry, but the classic father of the bride and the Steve Martin remake will always have first place in my heart. (and why can't we come up with new stories instead of remake after remake after remake???)
