I thought it was Greek too because it's served at Greek restaurants. Most people are walking around with word origin knowledge for their entire vocabulary. Actually after doing some research it turns out that baklava's origin is up for debate so there was no need for your correction.

I always thought it was Turkish, but I was told it's of Greek origin, but more popular in Turkish restaurants in Europe. Also popular in the Balkan countries as well.

Turkey I think invented it but Greece has a variation of it as well. As do most middle eastern countries. It's a common dessert in central asia. Brian is not wrong.

Technically right, it's modern origins are Turkey, Greece and the middle east. But medieval its traced through Turkey. All styles are extremely similar.
